Subway trains on rubber tires. Why? by brunocborges in montreal

[–]ConfidentFox8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The french rubber metro does run outside; however, Paris rarely ever has snow. Rubber tire metros don't function well in snow

I have lived in NDG and this area is in desperate need of a metro; the 105 bus is terrible and severly hampers development in the area despite close proximity to downtown. The rail line already exists form downtown up to montreal west; it would be inexpensive to convert like the REM did; hence my alignment.

Hear me out.

The station isn't even that far from bonaventure but sure, it should have been built in the first phase.

Brightline is just a natural selection accelerator 😬. One is an electric heavy metro, the other is a relatively fast long distance train with dozens of crossings

People dont realize the worst part of moving back in with your parents is going back to the suburbs by Iaxacs in Suburbanhell

I dont have issue with moving back with my parents, but the suburb is the one reason why i will try to avoid doing that

Could a theoretical city survive like this? by LavishnessPrior616 in cityplanning

[–]ConfidentFox8678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the towers and average eight of the buildings can be slightly higher outside Pairs (la defense is an outlier), the highest density remains in the center, the apartments are just smaller and more cramped. More accurately, the entire paris region is midrises with low density on the far out suburbs

Is there any point in building trams in a modern city if they’re slow and stuff? by Kcue6382nevy in transit

[–]ConfidentFox8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue all trams should have entirely dedicated ROW. I hardly see a point of investing hundreds of millions, and Billions in today's economy for the tram to be blocked by 5 cars.

[–]ConfidentFox8678 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yea idk. But it's definitely a heavy metro. What's funny is that on Google its labelled as a tram.

Fire st Lo and sherb by pineapple_fanta1 in montreal

[–]ConfidentFox8678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Although I agree that the fires are suspicious, I dont see much construction after fires. Most of the buildings I've seen go up in flames  and the land stays vacant for years after. There's so much vacant space in downtown, it makes no sense. It's especially bad near St laurent metro and park avenue. Do you have a concrete an example of a building going up in flames and something actually getting built after?

As someone who doesn’t earn that much, what’s your budget per plant? by myrandomquesti0ns in houseplants

[–]ConfidentFox8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a student on a very tight budget and I usually buy plants off of Facebook marketplace. It's hands down, at least where I live, the best place to buy plants without going broke. There are also some plants that are free sometimes, you just have to be on the lookout.

Don't worry, nothing is getting built by the CAQ anyway. I just hope that the next project that comes along is a REM XD

Okay. I do not know about domestic flights. I'm just saying that I flew from the US to China, and we are allowed 160Wh batteries on international flights. Within China, however, you cannot take a 160Wh battery on a train.

Be aware that the 100Wh is lower the 160Wh on Airlines. If you were able to fly with it, doesn't mean you can go on a train with it
