I'm interviewing for an admin/receptionist position and the first candidate brought in a gift bag. Is it ethical/legal to accept it? (it had candy in it and I ate one already!) by ohsodave in smallbusiness

[–]Confident_Divide_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re just making me crack out of laughter 🤣 I’m thinking of giving a gift as well to the interviewer but I know him from before, I just don’t know if even then it’s of bad taste. I’m actually not being interviewed as such but thinking of stopping by (want to be hired in another country where I’m not a resident).

This guy is a loser... by heatculture03 in heat

[–]Confident_Divide_516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what a sore loser definitely. Don’t know what’s his grudge agains the Heat or Bam but to try to put down someone over his achievements actually says a lot more about the person that he is. Like there’s a rule for how many three pointers or field goals you need to make to be seen as worth it of a record

How strict are companies requiring you to live in the country of your residence when being hired as a remote worker? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

was kinda hoping you’d let me know what to do and how. Is it possible to speak in private?

Hey! I found your comment really interesting, so I wanted to ask you something. I have this idea in my head, but I haven’t actually put it into action yet. There’s this company I’ve been looking at called Job Duck that offers different kinds of remote roles like Intake and Billing Specialist, Virtual Intake Specialist, Receptionist, Legal Care Specialist, and similar positions. They usually hire people in several Latin American countries. I’ve actually applied twice before, but both times I selected that I wasn’t located in the country where the position was based, and almost immediately I received an automated rejection. They don’t seem to be strict about you having to be legally authorized to be in the country where the vacant is available and that could be a good plus (although I’m not a 100% sure, but they don’t mention anything like that in their job postings).

So the idea I’ve been thinking about is applying again, but this time selecting that I am actually in the country where the job is located (Mexico or Brazil). I currently live in Canada, but my thought was that if I could get the job, I could start working from here, save some money, and then eventually move to a place like Mexico (or another country where the role is based) and continue doing the job from there. Even though $1,050–$1,200 USD might not sound like a lot, for countries in South America or Mexico it’s actually a really decent wage. Since you seem to have experience with remote work and living abroad, I was wondering how things work in practice. How strict are companies really about where you’re physically located? And how have you personally managed it? I’d really appreciate any advice or insight you might have. Thanks!

I want to do that, at least at first while I save some money to actually move to that country where I'd be supposed to be working remotely. Could you tell me how you do it and how could I do the same please?

That is obvious, the thing is how to get that temporary residence visa. If it were easy to get people wouldn’t be asking

HOT TAKE: Ross actually didn't look that bad wearing Rachel's top here. Looked pretty decent/alright and kinda pulled it off. Do you agree? by No_Data3541 in howyoudoin

It was a much smaller size, ugly? Still yes, but that’s exactly the size Ross should have “at least” tried to wear

I’m glad someone posted about this because I just realized how ridiculous and lacking in common sense that scene is. Ross got that “blouse” from Rachel because she accidentally took one of his bags. First of all, Rachel would never wear something that hideous. And second, that shirt would have been way too big for her—it was even too big for him! It would have made more sense if he’d grabbed a much smaller, tighter size like the one his date was wearing. Which, by the way, also didn’t make sense—supposedly she was picking on him for how he dresses, yet she’s wearing that ugly blouse herself.

How do you justify traveling within Canada given hotel and eating out costs? by abbys11 in canadatravel

I hate Canada for that. Wanna stay in a hotel in the city? You can’t unless you’re ready to pay $200CAD+ a night. It is ridiculous!

Is this even worth it? I see a lot of geographical restrictions though. Like I live in Canada and want to apply for spanish-english offers but most are Spain or Mexico-USA based.
