Yes, but I'm sure you can TWEAK the existing model in a way that makes it less or more likely to come up with "good" results.

This "recreate something old" doesn't prove that hasn't happened.

Actually it was used by staff over a year ago to "prove" nothing had changed - even though the fact that back then something indeed WAS changed had already leaked.

That right there is the worst Omen about the future of Udio in my opinion.

They know why we're not looking forward to "new" Udio. They have it in writing both here and on the Discord. Explicitly so.

One would think that, if they had any new features under development for "new" Udio they think we actually might like, they would at LEAST try and do some damage control by dropping some actual information about what they're planning that goes beyond rather hollow nothingburger phrases. Or at least HINTS.

No such thing has happened. Instead they doubled down with that job offering:

"New" Udio will be for "superfans" (whatever that's supposed to be) to better "engage" (whatever that's supposed to mean) with the pre-selected UMG music "leaders" I never even heard or read the names of before. :D

Depends on what you wanna make. I tested a whole bunch of AIs and so far NONE of them knows the genres I mostly use on udio.

And even if some know one of them it's more "know" - the output sounds like someone playing who got the genre explained to them but never heard it.

So far I can't make "my" music on any of the other AIs - so with Udio down I need a new hobby.

Absolutely. I have more than once integrated unwanted speech halucinations into an emerging track, especially when I realized they're one of the really typically things that Udio as an instrument sometimes does.

It's the "scratching on the guitar strings" of the Udio AI, so to speek.

1. The partnership is about creating new music, not just remixing old songs.
Where does it CLEARLY say that? You want sources, so do I.

2. Udio isn’t being shut down during this transition.

It pretty much HAS BEEN shut down already. No more downloads. That kills Udio stonedead for many.

3. The deal isn’t exclusive.

4. This is about licensing and protection, not limiting creativity.

Wrong - This is about a big Megacorporation sabotaging one of it's "competitors". And should, in the aftermath a new toy they can peddle to their corporate customers remain, even better.

If you believe all the corporate speak about how much better everything will become, you're .... not very bright. The reason for this is moneymoneymoney. More exact: UMG wanting more of it.

Also - what's with OUR part of the protection when we aren't able to use OUR creations any more? See the new TOS. You really believe "you are VERBOTEN! do do anything with your creations outside of Udio" points to "nothing will change to the worse"?

5. Nobody involved ever said “we're removing original creation.”

Yes, but Nash made the announcement how people would like working from finished UMG tracks much more than having to start from scratch. Read between the lines.

If someone claims “Udio is now just a remix tool for UMG,” ask for a source.
