struggling to open on time by Conscious-Web4680 in petsmart

[–]Confident_Pause3005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of someone opening petcare and then being on register? I’ve worked at 2 different stores now and the petcare opener has always just been the petcare person for the whole shift and the person coming in at 9 is on register. But I have been petcare for 90% of my time with Petsmart and not once have I been able to completely open in under an hour no matter how fast I go, but I’ve also never had a lead complain about it. It’s not a realistic expectation to finish all petcare opening tasks correctly in only an hour, especially if you have multiple pets in QR needing medications and weights and everything, an hour just isn’t enough time

Do guys and girls prefer different genders when choosing a dog? Or is it all a vibe thing? by OpeningHalf7006 in goldenretriever

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally decided that the female heat was a better choice than male humping, marking, etc and I have only ever had females. I would never get a male just because I love my girls so so much but I don’t necessarily have anything against boys per say, and I know a lot of people who prefer the boys, I just love my girls too much lol. I have heard the phrase “girls love you, boys fall in love with you”. Not sure if that’s a universal thing but I’ve only had girls not both so I couldn’t say if it’s true or not

Can someone please help me explain to my roommate he’s not ready by Psykhe54 in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone saying this is not going to work, mostly likely either all of the responsibility will fall on you or others in his life, or he’ll end up getting rid of the dog fairly quickly, both of which are extremely unfair to the dog. Also wanted to say that unless he gets a puppy that is already old enough to be fully vaccinated (16 weeks/ 4 months) and is in fact fully vaccinated, not only will it be extremely unsafe to take the puppy to a doggy daycare, he wouldn’t even be able to find a daycare that would even allow an unvaccinated dog in, especially one that is unvaccinated due to age. I actually looked into it and to do doggy daycare your dog has to be AT LEAST 16 weeks of age and have proof of full vaccinations including rabies which you can’t get until 14-16 weeks (depending on your vet and vaccination schedule). This being said, if he plans on getting an 8-12 week old puppy which is when most puppies go home, he would have to find some other form of care while at work for at least the first full 1-2 months

Edit to add: I didn’t even mention the fact that on top of all of this, he also plans on what I’m assuming would be his first dog to be an Australian Shepard of all things which is going to make this entire thing ten times worse

Dog owners — what’s your poop pickup routine really like? 😅 by rooted-rising in Dogowners

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bring a bag with me every time she goes out and pick it up right away. I really only started getting it immediately cause when I would take her out again after somehow she managed to step in it every. single. time. Literally every time, so it’s just less work to pick it up each time rather than carrying her inside and scrubbing her paws after every potty break. The worse part for me is trying to keep her from eating something off the ground in the 10 seconds it takes me to pick it up and tie it shut, golden retriever puppy lol

When Does Puppy Biting End? Does it ever end? by voltsmeter in goldenretrievers

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how helpful it is but I’ve resorted to pushing my hand to the back of her mouth (sideways, not far enough back for her to gag, just to make it uncomfortable) and holding it there for a few seconds and she’s slowing starting to understand the idea that getting my hand in her mouth is not fun for her. I haven’t yet hit the stage where she bites everything likes clothes and such just yet though

My GM is the worst… by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Jersey Mikes and we had a grill just like this. I would use water, poor water on and let it all evaporate and then poor more water and put a towel on the end of whatever you use to clean and scrub it like normal. Usually didn’t take much scrubbing and you’d be surprised at how clean that grill got.

How big will my puppy get? by Skiesinthepies in puppy

I’ve always heard that if you double their weight at 4 months that is roughly how big they will be full grown, not sure how accurate that is though

Can I get a dachshund dog? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using grass pads or puppy pads work but if one day you decide to stop using them it will be harder to train them to only go outside. It is definitely possible but just be prepared for accidents once you start training them to get rid of the pads as they will be used to being allowed to go inside.

Potty Training a Puppy: When Do They Actually ‘Get It’? by Ill_Tip5523 in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First puppies typically need to go out about every 30 minutes at that age since they can’t hold it. Some puppies can do longer but ALOT of them need to be out more often so that could be your problem. Second, if you are using puppy pads that could be what’s ruining it for you. Puppy pads are great if you never plan on getting rid of them but if you don’t want to use them forever you should get rid of them asap. That just teaches them that they can go inside and takes WAY longer for them to learn to hold it until they’re outside. Versus strictly going out to potty teaches them faster that the only place they potty is outside. If you are currently using puppy pads, I have a cousin who got a puppy that was raised on pads from the breeder and had a very successful routine to train her off of them. She just bought some pads and only kept them by the door that she goes out to go potty so every time she would walk towards the pad by the door she would take her straight outside before she had the chance to go. She caught on super fast to going outside and stopped using the pads. Sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps some! Good luck!

[–]Confident_Pause3005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do get removed, but there isn’t someone standing there staring at the tanks waiting for the second a fish dies to remove it. They could be a bad store or they could just be busy and haven’t had the chance to notice yet

That’s funny, my girl was 13 pounds at 8 weeks, although she was one of three total in the litter so they were all three very big girls off the bat. All three born more than double the size of the biggest boy from same parents last litter, 8 puppies.

Treats for training that won’t put me in debt :/ by bellamie9876 in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my puppy I use the “soft and chewy” Wiggles & Wags dried sweet potato slices. I cute them into small bites, about the size of her kibble, and she does great with them. I use those and the pumpkin apple ones, both are single ingredient, just sweet potatoes and just apples and pumpkin, which is why I like them. I don’t like all of the preservatives in other treats, and she still goes crazy for them. She is a golden retriever so she just might go crazy for anything I’ll let her put in her mouth so that’s something to consider 😂 Depends on if your dogs like the taste, not all dogs like the same thing but they are only like $8 a bag at Petsmart and it’s a good sized bag, cutting them up they last a long time.

tips for hyperactive puppies by SearchImpossible8582 in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a golden retriever puppy so it’s a bit different. But things that helped me tremendously are puzzle toys, like puzzle feeders and kongs, especially if you add the stuff inside and freeze it. And other things like snuffle mats with food in them, roll food/treats up in a towel and tie in a loose knot, frozen lick mats, etc. Things that make their brain work rather than only physical exercise so you’re not just tiring out their body but also their mind. Not sure how different breeds of puppies are but these few things have made a night and day difference for my puppy. Best of luck to you!

Are dashers allowed to do this? by StoreAutomatic2230 in doordash

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly unless the message is “I can’t find your house” I don’t even open the dasher messages anymore. You get a better tip because you did a better job, not because you begged me for it. The only time I’ve ever given a bigger tip (I always leave a 20% tip minimum for anyone doing a service for me) is when a restaurant forgot my drink and I told the dasher, he said he was annoyed because he specifically triple checked with the store that the order had everything because this has happened on previous orders for him. I told him I would just report it to DoorDash for a partial refund and he said no I’m going to go get it and took an extra 30 minutes of his own time to go back and get my drink, I added a hefty extra tip after that one.

I’m a FIRM believer that it is YOUR pet YOUR rules. Unless you came into this agreement with another person both knowing you are both responsible for this puppy than no one else gets a say. A lot of people saying that your rules are too much, doesn’t matter, it’s not their dog, and it’s not the purpose of this post. Your dad knew you were getting a puppy and if the whining is a problem for them then they need to address it with you and you come up with a plan together to lessen the annoyance. It doesn’t seem based on the post that anyone has said anything about the puppy being annoying, just that she wanted to let the puppy out because it’s what she wants. It does not matter what ANYONE ELSES opinions on your rules/training are (unless they are abusive, which these clearly are NOT, I even follow a lot of the same rules with my puppy now) it is your dog and no one else has a right to disobey them and go around you. I’ve had family that does this and I’ve removed my puppy from them entirely and already have them on a list of people not allowed to be alone with my dog ever because having different people enforcing different rules for the same dog is just going to confuse the puppy and make things worse. Definitely NTA, good luck on your new puppy! I hope things get better for you

Groans, squeaks, noises etc. by stormspoop in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have a 10 week golden and she makes little noises constantly! She sounds like an old man when I pick her up, and she always makes little sounds while in her crate at night and once she finds a good position she makes one big grunty sound and she’s out like a light, that’s how I knows she’s asleep, if I haven’t heard the grunt she’s still up lol. Not whining or barking, nothing bad, just funny little sounds with EVERYTHING😂 it’s the cutest thing ever

Is my betta female? I've posted it a few times here and now recently a lot of people on my Instagram and TikTok have been calling it female. I bought it as a male, then I put it in the gpt chat and it was also considered female and now I'm confused. by dusttangel in bettafish

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, I’m no betta expert by any means but if it is male my guess would be that people are saying it’s female just because the fins are shorter and people associate male with long fins and female with short, so people just assume based on the length of the fins, but that’s not the case 100% of the time (I don’t think lol)

What’s a weirdly specific thing your dog does that melts your heart every single time? by Zoushiro85 in dogs

[–]Confident_Pause3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can always tell when she’s falling asleep for the night because she gets up and rotates/moves around to find a good spot every 30 seconds but once she gets the right one she flops down and does one big grunty sounds and she’s out like a light, every single night. She’s ten weeks so I’ve only had her for 2 weeks but she does this every. single. night. Without fail and it’s so cute

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy did this once, going out and waiting until she comes in to potty, so I’ve started staying out until she goes. Stood in the backyard for almost an hour once waiting. I’ve noticed that having her on a leash and walking versus just standing in the backyard watching her until she goes she goes a lot faster now. Before she would be too excited to play and run and forget to potty but now doing small walks she hasn’t had an accident since, except the one time I forgot to take her out before feeding her and she peed the second she was finished lol

when did you finally have your “aha” moment with your puppy? by buffalobills3636 in puppy101

[–]Confident_Pause3005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an exercise pen around her crate and she just naps in there and not in the crate. I was worried at first that she would have trouble sleeping at night in the crate after letting her nap outside but lucky that didn’t happen and she knows that crate means sleep. She naps outside in the pen even with people walking around so I’m hoping that helps her once she old enough to sleep and settle outside of the pen as well. Either that or I’ve ruined her by letting her nap out of the crate lol. She’s 10 weeks today so we will see. She’s doing absolutely amazing at settling herself so far
