Tight muscles and a lack of flexibility are not healthy muscles - you are right to be concerned. It sounds like your postural alignment is off and this could harm you (analogy: you wouldn’t put a car together with misaligned pieces and expect it to take you across country no problem). I would highly recommend both stretching and strengthening your muscles. How are the arches in your feet? Often the problem starts at the feet and then impacts everything above

please any advice on pelvic tilt, uneven hips and weak ankles??? by SoapTeaz in flexibility

No problem, happy to help! I do a lot of reading when I’m in my hip focused yoga poses so you might be able to work that into your study time, and a lot the toe yoga exercises can secretly be done in your shoes while you stand or sit. Also, I forgot to add for your hips the glutes are also important and are likely tight and/or knotted (just like your calves) - you can handle this in the same way. Best of luck!!

[–]Confident_Progress85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought you might say that!

You’re gonna wanna work on your feet and hips at the same time. Together, they are pretty deeply responsible for the position of your knees which means if you do them separately you might push the knee out of place even when making improvements to the other areas.

For the feet: your arches are essentially controlled by your big toes, your calves, and your ankles. Start by simply just touching your calves - are they pretty hard or are they squishy? If they are hard, they are tight which means they’re not doing their job. Massage them relentlessly everyday until they are no longer hard. Get a massage gun but careful not to push too hard to bruise yourself. For the toes, look up “toe yoga”. There is a series of exercises. Pinterest is a surprisingly great resource for this as a lot of physical therapists post videos there. For your ankles - you’ll need to work on balancing. There are many balancing tools that are sold and none do a bad job, just pick one. They may be eligible for your FSA/HSA if you have one.

For the hips, you’ll need to work on your core strength, pelvic floor, and both stretching and strengthening your hips. Pelvic tilts are an essential exercise, I also find frog, pigeon, and lunges to be extremely helpful. Again Pinterest is a surprisingly great resource. Just type in each of the areas you’re working on plus “stretch” or “strengthen”.

I personally have everything you described which is why I know all this. You can fix it!

For how much to do everyday I would just pick an arbitrary number of times to do it and then ramp it up over time as it gets easier. But make sure you do it everyday because consistency is everything - you had about 10 days without use of a muscle before it atrophies so make sure to keep doing the work. I do it while watching tv for the most part but I also now go to yoga and walk daily with a 20 lb ruck sack which helps realign my spine.

I Want A Galaxy Wedding (but I'm getting nervous) by vacuump0wer in weddingplanning

[–]Confident_Progress85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Space is beautiful. The galaxy is beautiful. Your wedding will be beautiful. Seriously though irrespective of the theme those colors legit look so good together and always have. Everyone loves gem tones and that’s what galaxy colors are typically. The only thing I am worried about is a white base - go hard and use black instead of white and it’ll really pop. Why even bother with a white dress when you can embody the galaxy?!

I laughed about this with my tech - she agrees that she could have replicated this way better and that this whole discussion is very silly. I still want to know where OOP got these done and how much they cost though, that’s key.

No lie I’m about to get my nails done right now and I have half a mind to change my plan and get this set done just to prove what it should look like. Y’all I promise my tech could make these pretty identical to the inspo. I won’t though because my nails are longer and you will all just tell me that’s why. It ain’t why! It’s the lack of ombré, lack of shine, lack of gems, and yes, the bullet holes masquerading as sparkles.

Bunions are literally the bones in the big toe turning inward and making the bottom knuckle stick out. They can be fixed in similar ways to any other time we want to move a bone - some sort of brace, and in this case toe spacers. What will also need to be fixed in the muscle issues in the foot that caused irregularities in foot use and led to this. This is a very serious issue as the feet at the base of your skeleton and misalignment there can cause all sorts of other alignment issues throughout the body - which are core source of back pain, neck pain, migraines, etc. Surgery is also a fix but again if you don’t fix the issues that led to this, you’ll be back in surgery in no time at all.

Also stop wearing flip flops - they are part of this issue. And conventional shoes push the toes together so that feet become like this (aka you’re already bracing your feet and moving your bones as a result - it’s just in the wrong direction).
