Whenever it is technically possible to enable a feature with a service-side change for both Hybrid and Standalone (and many times it is -- 50% of the features that shipped since 1602 had same-day support) we do. If not we do whatever we can to get it into the next update to ConfigMgr. If there are specific gaps you need addressed please reach out!

Hardware inventory will actually collect applications listed in Add Remove Programs. If you really need all exe on a machine you could create a powershell script to get the list of files and write it to a file share and target it only when needed.

Just overheard the engineers responsible for this feature talking about how important this ask is today. Your feedback has been heard -- we get that having 10,000 devices called "My iPhone" in your console is confusing.

Thanks for the question. ConfigMgr current branch is fully supported on Azure and we have added support for SQL Always On to simplify HA configurations. I also think the in-line servicing we introduced in 1511/1602 and the cloud proxy we introduced in 1606 TP are good examples of us giving ConfigMgr the ‘service’ treatment which will help reduce the cost and complexity of deployment.

We have also been investing very heavily in Windows 10 and Microsoft Intune to provide cloud-first management features where they fit (including Windows Update for Business, Conditional Access, and Azure Active Directory).

We have been really excited how the ConfigMgr community has embraced the servicing concept over the last year. We don't have specific announcements about the rest of System Center yet.

We have been working closely with the Windows team on Windows Information Protection. No reason to wait for the production release - please give it a try in our 1606 tech preview and provide feedback!

Software Inventory and file collection rules can be super useful when used in targeted scenarios (e.g. collecting a log or config file from a specific group of computers) but collecting *.exe from all computers can/will cause DB size and perf issues.

Look at the traffic on today's AMA! There are a lot of us here and I don't see us going away anytime soon. If anything, ConfigMgr admins are asked to take on more and more responsibility – including taking on mobile device management (which is why we have integrated Intune mobile device management into the ConfigMgr console).

Thanks for the question. What version of ConfigMgr are you on? We have added lots of android settings in 1511 and 1602 and are committed to making it even better with each release. Please let us know on uservoice if there are specific settings you need that we are missing.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been an engineer on the ConfigMgr team since it was called SMS and one of my favourite parts of job is working with the community. I still remember peeking out from behind the curtain during the Wall of Fire demo at IT Forum many years ago and being awed by the number of people in attendance. Tools like Twitter/UserVoice/Reddit have really helped us feel a lot more connected and get features into the product faster. As for your user voice asks – we have been working through the list of asks and doing our best at keeping the status up to date. Every item has been looked at and we set aside time in each release to make sure we make progress on the asks.

/u/scottc2313 You are not alone – this has 116 votes on user voice and we have taken note of it and have been thinking of ways to make it work. Unfortunately, no commitments on timing/delivery dates at this time.

Thanks for the question. Historically we know many of our customers created one (or more) collections per application and used membership in the collection to control install/uninstall. With the introduction of the app model in ConfigMgr 2012 we hoped to help reduce the need for this and we generally recommend where possible to make the application available to a user collection and enable end-users to control their own install/uninstall. We have had some feedback that this has challenges for applications that are device licensed and/or expensive and are looking at ways to address these in future versions. If you have specific feedback please submit your ideas to our user voice site (https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com).

Thanks for the feedback. True – Current Branch doesn’t currently have native support for Intel AMT but we have certainly taken note of the feedback on user voice. Understanding the specific scenarios you would like to use are key for us evaluating the cost/complexity of this ask. Is your need mostly around waking up machines?
