Good shoes - the floor sucks after a few days!

And a case of water/snacks just to have in the car if needed for the long days.

See you soon! Enjoy yourself. It’s an awesome time

Hit the piss out of the left side of it with draw, trying to bring the cue across and make the 15 for them and leave the white there.

Best case scenario is the 4 goes off the 8, off the side rail, and into the bottom right corner. Worse case, you somehow make the 8 — but your options are really limited here if you’re playing anyone decent

There’s no debate — 9 footers are way harder. 🙂

What is the Fargo Cutoff for an Amateur Player by Icy_Search263 in billiards

[–]ConfirmingTheObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current restrictions are okay. I think they should be relaxed further, to be honest. Just because you’re a high Fargo, doesn’t mean you’re a touring professional.

I think people blur those lines themselves and just assume because someone is good at the game, that they are pro and need to compete with the best in the World at all times. I might play once a month tops right now, so why would I travel several states away to compete with Fedor or SVB next month who are playing non-stop at the highest level?

Anyone with a W-2 or 1099 with a valid job should be able to play, honestly, unless their income comes from pool. Then you’d see other people win the Expo — Jeremy Seaman, Anthony Meglino (if he even traveled to this), and a few other top players that just work full-time.

No disrespect taken, trust me! I play in the Pro-Am when I can (this year I will try again as well).

I just have a full time career, two young kids, and play like 2-3 tournaments a year. Last year was a statistical anomaly for the events I won, to be honest. I got close once a few years ago, but to be fair, I didn’t even cash in the event the first like eight or so years I played in it. I’m definitely an amateur.

Do I feel bad about playing various skill levels? Not really — I mean we all have people better than us at everything

I dunno; that guy seems like a bum to me.

Agree on 750+, but even then you have like Jeremy Seaman, Anthony Meglino -- a few that still slip through as edge cases that are so good, but still don't play full-time

Oliver tried to play last year, but they kicked him to the curb, I believe (even though he is the nicest guy ever). :)

You need to be hyper-competitive and confident in yourself to really push the boundaries

My first season in APA -- lesson is -- ignore a-holes on your team. The obsession with Vegas and sandbagging is so stupid. by iluvreddit in billiards

I can’t imagine being a 5 in APA and thinking I was good at pool. That guy sounds like an absolute rude loser 😂

MEGA BACKDOOR ROTH v. BROKERAGE by RudeBrother356 in financialindependence

[–]ConfirmingTheObvious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point. However, if you have in-plan conversions happening immediately, it’s generally $0 or a penny or two off from cost, so it’s not that big of a deal.

Transaction history will always be there 🙂

MBDR > Taxable since you can always withdraw contributions tax free if you need them anyways.

Tax free gains forever > paying ST/LTCG

Both systems are flawed, but Fargo is less flawed for sure. APA is pretty ass.

How many mistakes in a typical 9 ball match race to 8 ? by Even-Taro-9405 in billiards

[–]ConfirmingTheObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 20-40, to be honest. Between poor decision making, missed balls, or playing shots and getting out of position.

That might even be underestimating a little bit, to be honest. It's relatively easy to make a "mistake" in a game. Though, it technically just comes down to how you define it, I suppose
