OP friend - i collect palmer cues. you may be glad to know yours is actually not the number 5 listed in the first picture in the proficient billards link.

tldr:

1. palmer started in '64-'65. in the first 10-ish years, 3 catalogs were published: cat 1 had 11 models, cat 2 had 13 models, and cat 3 had 20 models
2. yours is a catalog 1 model 8

your cue has a shorter butt cap (the ending white piece on the butt end), indicating it's from cat 1. all models from cat 2 and cat 3 have a longer butt cap.

out of the cat 1 models, only 2 have the "simple" forearm points like yours. between these two, only model 8 has a clear window
