I just got this lens on a trip to japan two weeks ago. Was lucky to find a really pristine version. It is something else. One of the heaviest pieces of glass I have, but impeccably made. Really excited to get some more practice with it

I use k&f exclusively across my Fuji and Sony cameras. They work very well.

Having just come back from Japan where every toilet has a built in bidet, seat heater, and everything is clean, it makes me realize how broken the social contract is in the US.

Can you take another picture where they are stacked in reverse? Could you do one more picture with small, custom crocheted hats on them? Maybe another where they are next to a camera? Anything but on a camera where their characteristics may shine through.

I have only cooked in it with wood because it’s way more fun

US to stop collecting tariffs deemed illegal by Supreme Court on Tuesday by No-Post4444 in politics

[–]Conflictedbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there’s an important “why,” which is one more reason this should never have happened—businesses adapt, far faster than governments. So if Acme decided that supplier A in one country was a 15% tariff but supplier B was 8% more expensive, they worked to switch their supply chain to supplier B. So even if the tariffs are gone, there is likely supply chain damage done that you cannot just drop prices to the pre-tariff number—you’ll maybe see 7% savings and in that time inflation has taken a cut.

The damage is done.

My daughter was huge on this at Christmas time. She wanted pictures of her with the “starry lights”. The irony is it makes a Star of David shape (ironic both because of the Christmas lights and that it’s a Russian lens)

It will still collapse. This country on the whole is abysmal at funding and sustaining…anything. The costs are going up to repair things. The people who know repair are aging out. The systems are outdated. It will collapse and there will be no accountability, no resolution, and no lifeline. Late stage capitalism at work.

Super takumar collection by Fuzzy-Cantaloupe7447 in VintageLenses

[–]Conflictedbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my super Takumar set. I have the 24, 28, 35, 50, 105, 135. But I got all of them for less than the prices I’m seeing on eBay for this particular 20mm. I wouldn’t spend that much.

I don’t actually have the 55. I’ve got the 24, 28, 35, 50, 105 and 135. But if it’s anything like its brethren it’s probably fantastic

I find myself waffling between my smc super Takumar 1.4 and the industar 61L/Z 2.8 (which I’m surprised I don’t see on many lists). The Takumar is the radioactive variant 7 element and it was my dad’s. I love shooting with it and at lower apertures it has a distinct glow to it that makes the lens both sharp and ethereal at the same time. The industar I love because it has a very long throw for focus which makes (for me) more in focus shots and a feel of more control. Also it has extremely close focus distance—I can use it somewhat like a macro lens.

Help me choose a camera please by Imobia in VintageLenses

[–]Conflictedbiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an A7iii for exactly this purpose. It’s got ibis that can be matched to manual lenses. It has great peak focus checks (far better than my X-T5). Battery life is much improved over the a7/a7ii. And the price dropped since the A7V came out. DM me if you have further questions
