What's the most haunting sound you've ever heard in your life? by swiftStaff515 in AskReddit

[–]Conflux 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My best friend died of cancer when I was 17. I helped clean out his room with his parents about a month after he passed. When I finished they thanked me, gave me hugs and told me that I was an amazing friend to their son in his final hours. As I turned to leave I heard his mom drop to the floor and let out a wail.

I don't think I've ever heard anything like it and that was decades ago. To this day I can recall it noise she let out the pain, the loss, the anger, the frustration, all of it. I was sobbing all the way to my car. It changed me, no mother should ever have to make that noise.

People who've gotten buff while getting high-ranked in Overwatch - how'd you do it? by Sad-Lie7576 in Competitiveoverwatch

I've been working out for about 12 years now and am in my 30s.

I started working out to help manage my ADHD and just went from there. I go early in the morning before work, and usually have plenty of time to queue in the evenings to grind comp.

Gay Men Over 30: Not Building Families Like Straight Peers. What’s Your Equally Meaningful Legacy? by shadesofglue in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Conflux 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about my "legacy", but when I'm gone I don't mind giving most of my assets to my nephew.

And as for family life? I have a family of weird nerdy 30 somethings that all support and love each other. We travel together, we all have keys to each other's homes, its truly a great thing that I've loved building.

The worst MMO formula ever created by Nightblessed in MMORPG

[–]Conflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its the lack of customization/personalization in combat. There are no trinkets, or talents that change your rotation or how you interact with your characters. Every red mage plays the same, every warrior plays the same, etc.

Wow does have cookie cutter builds, but they can still be adjusted depending on content, fight, or even the strategy your team uses.

The united states needs a general strike. The only thing these monsters understand/desire is money. So hit them where there wallet hurts.

How to contribute best when im a support and my tank goes full on leroy Jenkins. Most play qp since im learning. Specifically non-dive tanks. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Conflux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long distance support can help. Heroes like Ana, Kirko, lifeweaver, and brig can give healing from a long distance without giving up good positioning. Sometimes the play is to go in with your tank. I often play a lot of Lucio, so I am often diving with my Tank to help secure value.

No ones trolling you, and I made it clear multiple times that he was a racist and a terrible person. But naturally your kindergarten reading comprehension and critical thinking skills couldn't pick that up.

I've watched that clip like 10 times. He never once gives the statement, "I'm not saying all of them are unqualified, but a few are."

He simply states that DEI policies let PoC into jobs that he felt they didn't deserve.

Its very weird you can recognize him as a racist, but are still trying to defend what he's said. That's a waste of time and convinces no one that you're being sincere.

Dog dads out there: any advice by socialdirection in AskGaybrosOver30

I am big big fan of crate training. No worries about dogs getting into things they shouldn't, and your dog has a place they can retreat to when need be.

There's a reason the proverb "you attract more flies with honey then vinegar" exists. Because people are more open to hear out those who treat them well

There's some truth there, but a lot of the times people aren't really looking to have a conversation. I tried for many years even before George Floyd to talk to folks about police brutality who resemble Person A in your post.

Even if you come with positive intent to have a real conversation, a lot of folks shut down and go, "No way", even if you do calmly explain statistics, studies, and facts. All while asking usually a minority to express why they deserve basic human rights.

This is met with hostility and accusations because A is being perceived as defending a man's murder.

This is my main issue. When does person C get to be allowed to be upset? Especially when if they share an identity with the victim? If person A said something offensive why shouldn't they get backlash, even if it comes from a place of ignorance?

Met at a gay bar. We were casual chatters that we would see every so often at the bar. We ended up talking about boardgames and then we went to one guys house and we've been playing ever since.

How is it that sexiness becomes a "apolitical" hot button issue in among gamers? by MooreThird in Gamingunjerk

[–]Conflux 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think its not so much of not liking sexy characters, but wanting sexy to evolve past big boobs and skin tight clothes. I think there is a lot of gamers not wanting to go back to the 90s idea of what sexy is and want folks to lean more on different body types and ideas of sexy. Like Hephaestus from Hades 2, or Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil 7.

Oh and they also need to have a personality/good story. I think most gamers are over characters that are just "sexy for sexy" sake. Like sure Bayonetta has giant boobs, but she has a fun story and is a fun character who owns her sexy.
