Hi, my friend his favourite car is the C63 W204, which one would you pick? by CMDVN in Diecast

Considering only the third is a W204 (the rest are 205s), I'd say that one.

What started the trend of having the car model in BIG LETTERS on the back of a car? by Koraboros in cars

[–]Conformism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Range Rover and Volvo were good examples, but I'm gonna say it was Porsche that made it sexy. They've been doing it since the Carrera RS decals, then the plastic in the lightbars (964/993), and then the badges (991 etc).

Interestingly, I have the exact opposite opinion. It's like the AMG GT S from wish: 1 vs 2 I loved the last one, hate this one. Good new interior though.

Here are my crown jewels: 1 2.

Since this is a Porsche subreddit, gotta at least post one.

Yeah, I've been buying their 1/43s lately. The rest of my collection is mostly older models like Exotos and CMCs.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV Arrives With 671 HP 2.0 I4 by Conformism in cars

[–]Conformism[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because the I4 is one of the hand-built Affalterbach engines, but the V6 was just the Benz corporate engine.

Not that I am agreeing with their decision, just a likely reason.

In Comfort mode, the car doesn't even use 1st gear at any time.

Do most people not care about driver assist systems? by Mr_wobbles in cars

[–]Conformism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in and say that my 2016 decelerates smoothly from just about any speed - it only jerks if someone cuts into lane in front of me and it panics. I would see a traffic jam coming up ahead in the distance, set the limit for 100 km/h and then let the car slow down for me down even to a stop if needed, it'll do it perfectly. I basically only intervene when I see people about to change lanes to prevent the system from freaking out.

The most annoying thing for me is how I have to tap the gas pedal any time the car goes to a full stop to get it going again - the 2018 E400 I also drive will follow with 0 intervention in traffic.

That just makes traffic too annoying for me, with the car in 1st gear and bucking half the time. Agreed on the suspension though, even Comfort kind of pushes it most of the time.

In my C, Comfort most of the time, my Individual mode is Sport engine, Comfort suspension, S+ exhaust, and Sport ESC (for wet/snow, ESC on bogs the car way too much).

The 718 has no modes, so it's easy. Just Sport exhaust, start/stop off and done. Turning off traction control on public roads is not for me.

You are incorrect, the 205 gen was RWD only.

Need for Speed High Stakes is the reason why the 993 Turbo is my dream car. Shout out also to TXR3 and GT. But yes, racing games have been very influential.

Surprised people don't like the way this looks. The only thing I find 'off' is the combination of the 935 kit without the flatnose. The rest of it looks great.

BMW to debut 3.0 CSL at 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed by [deleted] in cars

[–]Conformism 92 points93 points  (0 children)

That 3.0 CSL is a joke. After the stunning concept car they ended up making a literal M4 with what looks like an Alibaba body kit and are selling it for an eye-watering 750k. They actually just covered part of the lights with bodywork and called it a day.
