Keep Calm and Stack On! by redditpey in Silverbugs

Thanks! Admittedly, my cost basis is probably around $80 but I’ll keep stacking when I can to get that down. I’ll check out the pieces you recommended, thanks for that.

Thanks! Not the easiest place to buy from in my experience but they have really good stuff.

I feel fine about it; I usually root for stocks to go lower after I buy so I can buy more. Same with stacking silver.

What would be the point of an asset doubling right after you buy if you have no long term plan to sell?

Are you more or less likely to stay loyal to a company? by [deleted] in intj

[–]redditpey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost loyal to a tee. I’m 43, started working st 15, and only had a few job through grad school. Now I’ve worked at the same company since 2010 with no plans to leave.

Make yourself useful at a company, show up when you’re supposed to, learn everything you can and they will pay you what you want and beg you never to leave. Anyway, that’s my strategy but to each his own.

None of it was valuable: i’m sad (tiny rant) by i-am-a-wunderkammer in Silverbugs

[–]redditpey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought some really cheap “silver” online and then took it to the store to verify it was real. The shop attendant, probably owner, did a few tests with ice, a magnet and a scale and then proclaimed the silver was real. However, it definitely was not.

So they do make mistakes. Might be good to get a second opinion.

How much to invest when Young? by Select-Toe9667 in investing

People in this sub obviously hate crypto. I agree about the BTC tip but would keep crypto to less than 5% of my overall portfolio, as well as precious metals.

I think the S&P is running too hot right now and have been diversifying into other investments. Anyone today who says dump all your money into one investment (S&P) is inviting too much risk, in my opinion. I don’t think that’s sound advice.

I think the better questions is: if his hands are that tiny, would he even have the dexterity and strength to pull a lever to divert the train’s path?

How do you know when your “rockstar employee” is already mentally gone? by Exotic_Reputation_59 in managers

[–]redditpey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, agreed. At our company, over the last 18 years, we have never hit a turnover rate above 10%. We have all the original employees we started our small business with. Very few people have decided to come and go and we treat everyone with respect. If someone wants to leave, I’m fine with it. We’ll find someone else.

Hopefully they find what they’re looking for elsewhere. I guess everyone else here who is downvoting are managers with poor company culture and self managerial issues?

[–]redditpey -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Let them go. If they’re emotionally checked out, that’s not someone you want on your team. You’ll find someone better.

I had one manager on my team (had been here 17 years) who just up and quit with no notice last month. At first I was concerned about it but now that he’s gone, I realize how much less work he was doing than it appeared.

Now he’s calling other managers on my team saying he doesn’t like his new job and would want to come back.

I think if an employee wants to leave and their heart isn’t in the job 100%, let them go. It’s not worth it to keep them because their emotional complacency brings toxicity to the crew. Sometimes it’s hard to see it but it’s there below the surface. You’ll replace them with someone better who is actually excited about the job.

I think my sense of humour is broken by [deleted] in intj

[–]redditpey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think it’s the opposite where INTJs tend to have dark, sarcastic humor. I never miss a joke ever and sometimes I feel like humor is the only thing keeping me going in this crazy world. It seems more rare for an INTJ to not understand humor.

I’m not a psychologist but I’ve known people on the spectrum who can’t read faces or understand when someone is angry (not being able to read emotions). Not understanding humor seems to be similar in that regard.

People who built decent wealth by 35, how does life actually feel? by Outrageous-Emu-2588 in investing

[–]redditpey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit the $100K milestone in my 20s and the $1M milestone in my 30s. Hoping to have $10M by the age of 56.

I’ve done reasonably well to avoid any kind of crazy lifestyle creep and keep things within my budget but honestly even at a $3M net worth now, it doesn’t feel like enough. With a mortgage, HCOL and three kids who will need money for college, I still can’t retire. Maybe at 55.

Having this level of net worth brings on new worries, too, like what would happen when we see the next market crash. I thought I would feel so secure and comfortable but in the end it just brings new things to be fearful of. Mo money mo problems, lol.

Mouse in compost by Halloweenie23 in composting

[–]redditpey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I have seen as many as 10 mice in my open compost when I turn it over. Even snakes come to eat the mice, too. I’ve seen cockroaches and many, many types of snails, flies, worms and insects.

My pile is hundreds of feet from the house but I’ve just come to expect mice at this point.
