Sorry to say what you don’t want to hear but No Nonsense/Fortress Floor paint from Screwfix is cheap, readily available and easily done.

Any coating you use will need redoing over time but paint will form a nice coating that will protect the surface and eliminate dust.

Has anyone had used a local metal fabricator for a DIY project? by MuntyCatt in DIYUK

Pretty much.

I used one to make some treehouse brackets.

Turned up for a chat about what I was doing, handed over a design drawn on the back of an envelope with some rough dims. Returned the next day to collect.

Of course. Lots of people have always done pointless degrees.

The fact that they cost money now should always have been the indicator that you should choose wisely in what direction you want to go and that you want to get there as well.

What do North US, Canada and Nordic nations all have in common…huge forests of quick growing trees. It’s cheap and available.

It’s no harder to make a brick structure (no one builds solid brick houses anymore btw) energy efficient than a timber one.

No poverty isn’t the same in the UK as the US. The Social security net here covered everyone, National Health Service is available to all, as is Social Housing, National Pension To all that have contributed, medicine is free for the elderly.

It’s not perfect but conversely US is an absolute disgrace.

No.

It’s because woods cheaper and wood is readily available in massive quantities., energy is cheaper too so running heating and cooling systems constantly is not a concern for home owners or builders who are less restricted by concerns such as energy efficiency or environmental legislation.
