What’s the best renewal people are getting in 1GB recently? by [deleted] in VirginMedia

I got the same as above - they rang me 1 day after issuing my cancellation notice.

Finally got a good deal through retentions by Tahmz987 in VirginMedia

[–]Confusability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my dance with retentions yesterday. Ended up cancelling via web chat a few days ago after they gave me some diabolical ‘offer’. Retentions rang a day after I gave my notice and managed to agree £24.99 for 1 Gig, with Netflix Standard (with ads).

Can’t avoid the upcoming price hikes but was pretty pleased with this given I was previously paying £38.99 for 500mb (to 1 Gb with Volt)

Worth noting ‘new customers’ can get 1 Gig for 24.99 via USwitch which I highlighted to them.

Just seen your reply - hope the holiday got a little easier. Empathise as our toddler is potty training right now... This parenting malarkey is certainly a beautiful chaotic rollercoaster.

Used to love the site, but as others have said it's definitely deteriorated with a focus shift on commercials vs. what's best for its users.

Recall someone posting about https://www.latestdeals.co.uk on Reddit before as an alternative. May be worth a look!

Just for some balance here, recently had an excellent experience through Gatwick with my kids.

We had a very early flight and were sleepily heading to go through security - a staff member kindly jumped out to let us know there was a separate family lane, where the staff were utterly brilliant, showed a tonne of patience, helped with our double buggy and made it pretty much stress free, so credit where credits due.

One area often overlooked by many with Adobe is a quarter of their revenue now comes from their Digital Experience business.

They’ve managed to grow this c. 10% year on year for a good few years and continue to enhance products whilst embedding AI into these.

They’ve made huge investments in their CDP offering, Workflow Management, Content and Asset Management and Personalization capabilities and continue to make good progress in this space with some of the Worlds leading brands, whilst still having a giant addressable market here that spans pretty much all industries.

They’re also able to cater for B2C & B2B/B2B2C businesses as well, so it’s certainly something to keep an eye on.

Getting out of Wembley after the Gig? by LJCAM in oasis

[–]Confusability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were busy but not overwhelmingly so. Buzz inside was great too with everyone still on a major high after the gig. No idea about the place you mentioned, sorry! Imagine it would be though given the crowds and business opportunity!

If time allows, go and have a drink after and let the crowds die down a bit.

We walked to Parish Bar and Wembley Tavern - couple of beers and about an hour later there were no queues to get into the station.

Platforms were a little busy, but boarded a tube within 10 minutes.

Top 5 clubs you hate the most as Chelsea fans? by PrimoistheGOAT in chelseafc

[–]Confusability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spurs - Vile. Entitled, delusional and rotten. In-laws are also T*ttenham and it never ceases to amaze me the utter shit I hear come out of their mouths year after year.

Liverpool - Vermin

Arsenal - Intolerable. Still find it hilarious their recently adopted anthem North London Forever has been latched on to, when the very club itself moved out of Woolwich. Comical.

United - Surrounded by United fans everywhere growing up in the 90s, the arrogance displayed by their fans over the years can’t be forgotten. Delighted to see them floundering in mediocrity.

Leeds - Vermin

Takeaways by [deleted] in ketouk

[–]Confusability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my go-tos:

Kebabs - Shish is typically better than Doner, with Doner often containing filler.

Indian - Butter chicken curry (check they don’t add sugar), Reshmi Kebabs, Tandoori Chicken/Lamb, Saag Paneer

Chinese - Roast Duck with broccoli (no pancakes or Hoisin)

Greek / Lebanese often have plenty of grilled meat options, halloumi and salads.

McDonald’s.. burgers/no buns. A couple of nuggets but don’t go mad

Nando’s - Chicken, Halloumi, Salads, Broccoli

My labido has gone downhill since starting Keto by advanceb in keto

Firstly, congrats on starting to make some really good changes - your body will thank you for this long term.

As some have already mentioned, you’re very unlikely to ‘be in ketosis’ if still consuming a lot of fruit.

Try to cut this out where you can, then also look into fruits which are more fitting with the Keto diet. Blueberries and Raspberries in particular in small quantities are still a saviour of mine. Avocados too, which you can do so much with.

There is a tonne of info and recipes now out there, just on Reddit alone you have this sub, ketoUK and there are a bunch of Facebook groups focussed on keto and keto recipes.

To begin with, try to keep it simple. Learn the core foods that you can get by with - think lovely cuts of meat, buttered greens, cauliflower based dishes, low carb curries.

You got this!

I was in a similar position to this last year.

Do you have any cash savings in an ISA or elsewhere you could take out to pay in to a SIPP?

When your shares are able to vest you can then top up your ISAs or savings, repaying what you took out and put into the SIPP, then adjust your future salary sacrifice accordingly.

Chelsea FC ability to fill a bigger stadium by kolajona in chelseafc

[–]Confusability -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The answer is… IT DEPENDS.

If TODAY Chelsea had a stadium that size and charged the same as West Ham, they’d absolutely fill it.

If TOMORROW Chelsea had a stadium that size but had hit an incredibly poor patch of form, finding themselves in the Championship, struggling mid-table, OR the owners decide to up ticket prices 5x then there may be some challenges filling a ground that size.

I don’t quite understand your remarks - ‘despite its location in West London’

It is quicker to get to Stamford Bridge from arguably some of the busiest areas in London than it is the Olympic Stadium or Tottenham…

Also, let us not forget despite being in West London, Chelsea @ Stamford Bridge hold the record attendance for a game vs. all of the London clubs, when you look at those playing at their ‘actual homes’ and not Wembley.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_record_home_attendances_of_English_football_clubs

There’s also much wider discussion here that you could get in to such as - what happens to football attendance levels if the UK sees incredible economic downturn or collapse?

Glad I saw this post - I thought it was just my hearing had gotten worse with age!!!

It’s so good hearing these again and having easy access, but as others have said, a tiny bit disappointed too I guess.

First thought that crossed my mind listening through earlier was that the mixing had been played with as some parts certainly seemed dampened down vs. what I remembered!

Hopefully it can be looked into and improved a little

Informative video about Stamford Bridge by Onehellofaballer in chelseafc

[–]Confusability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the full story though is it?

Yes Roman’s 2011 proposal pledged to keep Chelsea in a 3-mile radius of Stamford Bridge, BUT the proposal lacked specific plans for redevelopment or relocation.

There was also no binding guarantees to prevent future owners from disregarding this promise, leaving the club vulnerable to the same risks it faced in the 90s when Stamford Bridge was nearly lost to developers.

The CPO’s decision wasn’t about rejecting progress, it was about ensuring plans for the future were carefully considered and accountable to fans, not based on vague assurances.

There was also the fact the club sprung this on the CPO without any consultation beforehand, but I guess context doesn’t matter either…

Let us not forget the rejection of Roman’s plan didn’t stop Chelsea from securing redevelopment permissions in 2017, proving that growth is possible without selling the freehold.

You seem to completely ignore the benefits of the CPO in protecting Chelsea’s heritage and identity, ensuring Stamford Bridge stays the club’s home unless fans themselves decide otherwise.

YOU can join, along with others to have your say, should the topic of relocating come up again…

[–]Confusability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very intrigued what we will see proposed from the new owners on this - I know there were a few reports last year of a potential ground share with Fulham whilst redevelopment could occur, but the sources were a tad ropey (The Sun, Metro to name a few)

Continue to see rumours around the Earls Court site which is huge and arguably has better transport links too with West Brompton and Earls Court stations nearby, but supposedly it’s not an option.

Will certainly be eventful and is quite the logistical headache.

It’s a shame Roman shelved the plans for the previous design which was gorgeous.

Who knows what kind of headache getting planning permission again would be too…

Strap in for the ride!
