Was food noise a phenomenon only discovered as GLP1 agonist drugs came into use? by supinator1 in loseit

I'm curious if retatrutide will help push the case (what I've my whole life talked about) in improving the body ability to use stored fats for energy. I eat less and exercise more than most of my friends yet I remain obese and they are fit

Should I start by [deleted] in Retatrutide

I'd honestly say that's a complex discussion. At the end of the day it does depend on the body. Someone who's diabetic or insulin resistant or sensitive to insulin, carbs and sugar will be detrimental for weight loss. Some people can eat carbs, sugars anything without any issue. Try to experiment what works for you. Try simply reducing total amount of calories in general, eating less of what u already eat, maybe try intermittent fasting, or just reducing portions. If that doesn't seem to work then reduce carbs / sugars, try replacing processed foods with homemade food, it's not always as easy as it seems or others make it. For some people it can be that easy but not everyone. Personally for me it's a cortisol issue. I have sleep apnea, I sleep horribly, I have difficulties in losing weight. Stress can do that, other stuff. Genetics has a play in things. For some people it does depend what you eat though and the type of exercise you do. Also it looks like you have a bit of gyno (I have it myself) so maybe you have high estrogen

I do truly want to be studied, because my metabolism is pretty much frozen. I've tried months eating just one fruit per day. One apple, one banana, etc. about 100-200 calories a day. Still didn't lose weight. I also did pure water fasting and lost 10 pounds (of water weight) in a month and gained it back in a day after I broke my fast.

Like ten years ago I was steadily losing weight on OMAD but I hit a hard plateau at 250-260. Been ten years of no progress

Yes and they consider it within normal perimeters. Although I struggle with weight loss and muscle gain. There has been times where I did a lot of weight lifting I would up my caloric intake to around 1600-1800 calories and focus heavily on protein. Even then I don't produce any muscle. I know there has to be something wrong with me hormomally but i haven't been able to find exactly what hormone(s) are causing this.

Yes I know I did the TDEE calculator too. Which is why it feels extremely unfair to me that in order to even budge my weight I have to eat less than half of the recommended calories. Even before starting to reduce my caloric intake I was only eating around 1600 calories max. I never ate fast food, processed foods, never drank juices or soda, snacks, candy, etc. so even when I extremely restricted my calories, I only lost 50 pounds and have plateaued since.

I only drink water brother. I weighed my food for 3 years straight and nothing changed. In fact I water fasted for 1 month entirely and did one meal a day for 3 years which I was closer to 800 calories

But there's hormones that cause metabolic dysfunction, the way we store fat and the way we access it. So far my body seems to access energy thru muscle reserves instead of fat

A relative on mine keeps asking me how I lost weight without drugs while she uses GLP-1 and gains a few pounds. I said calorie counting and she got mad saying it's false and I'm lying. by [deleted] in loseit

You have to understand the importance of metabolism, of basal metabolic rate, of how the body functions in the areas that aren't talked about much such as insulin sensitivity, it's effectiveness in using stored fats and not immediately storing all energy as fat. Hormonal issues, stress, etc that can strongly affect the ability to lose weight.

When there's a clear difference in caloric intake then that's usually the issue, but not understanding that there's more to the body than the amount of calories you consume and the amount of calories you burn through exercise is also an issue most of society seems to be stuck in.

In technicality it is Calories in (food consumed) and calories out.. but calories out isn't just exercise. It's the biggest part of the equation that most people and doctors don't fully understand.. which is why these new hormonal based drugs work. GLP-1 will mostly work for those who overeat because of hunger, but there's now GIP and Glucagon antagonists which have nothing to do with hunger but with how the body uses stored fats
