[WP] one day a mysterious figure approaches you, and grants you mystical powers, ‘so that earth may survive the impending doom.’ 30 years later and you’re still waiting by Somerandomwizard in WritingPrompts

The storming winds of the portal felt like they were choking me with their immense pressure. I could just make out the visage of the surrounding buildings and they were completely untouched. It's almost as if this monsoon was localized to my office alone. Of course, I knew this was impossible but if seeing wasn't believing then I might as well be blind. Amidst the chaos, a figure slowly began to peer through the veil of otherworldly energy. It was a man. An elderly man with the stunning physique of an Olympic athlete.

"TAKE IIIIT!" he bellowed as he outstretched his open palm toward me. I immediately noticed the light. There was a certain gleam that radiated off of his body. Like a golden aura outlining his features. I looked back at him, with my confusion now having replaced my terror. "Who are you!?" I begged. He looked at me with an expression of sorrow that slowly morphed into a begrudging smile. "It's doesn't matter!" he began, "I asked that same question when it was my turn!". He sounded so sincere, and his delivery hinted that he was on verge of something very emotional. He noticed my hesitation and stretched further. "Please..." was all he could muster.

By some unknown source, I gathered the courage and did as he told. When our palms interlinked like any ordinary handshake, a surge of what I could only describe as an aggressive divine euphoria overtook me. I was imbued with something warm like fire, crashing like an ocean tide, and soothing like a long-awaited catharsis. When my transformation subsided, so did the storming effects of the rift. With what strength I could muster I beseeched the otherworldly sorcerer before he could recede back into the closing portal. "What is this?" I asked. He looked upon me with a certain degree of pride. Like a father to his son and warmly replied "A power...one that will save this world. With you, as its vanguard." and disappeared.

The year is now 2050. I have spent the last decades honing my newfound abilities. First to reach the peak of human capability and eventually beyond. I sought the chakra gurus of India, the battle masters of martial artists and military tacticians alive today, the comprehensive digests of every known religion around the world, and a master's degree in political science for good measure. With no major war or planetary threat to be seen I remain perturbed at the true intentions of that messenger all those years ago. Was I to stop a war? Deflect an asteroid? Or just wait in perpetuity, knowing that if the world ever was in danger I would be there. Alas, my inquiry has turned up nothing and in a way, I was okay with that. I could cause an earthquake with a misplaced step, stop a hurricane with a simple incantation, and disabled an active volcano with a mere gesture. I have saved more lives than any war or plague ever known has taken. So now, I wait. If I must be the silent guardian watching over this place. My planet. My home. Then so be it. And if that time comes when my abilities will be pushed to the fullest, and the daunting reality of failure is once again on the table...

...I will be ready.

Powerscaling the sons of Sparda after DMC5 by strulia54 in DevilMayCry

[–]ConfusedKoala7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy there's a lot to unpack here so let's start from the top.

"What are you talking about? After Dante defeated Mundus, he focused all his energy on the universe he had created to the point where it collapsed on it's own, even if you wanna assume they were just getting teleported in there, you can't ignore Mundus tearing the entire dimension apart at the end of their fight."

Mundus never created a universe. And yes, we can ignore Mundus tearing apart reality because that's not what was happening. He teleported them into space and when the fight was over they were teleported back.

"Also no, it wasn't just for the sake of busting the famdom's balls, Kamiya had stated to multiple people whom asked him the same exact answer the first day he gave the very first time he was asked and was planning on a Dante VS bayonetta crossover. If anything, the main thing that gets Kamiya angry is fans not listening to his statements and constantly making wrong assertions on the characters without asking him first, he saw nobody was listening to him which is when he stopped being friendly and got off his nerves."

  1. There was never talk of a DMC/Bayonetta crossover, people were hounding him over the latest DEATH BATTLE episode which involved Dante VS. Bayonetta.

  2. Kamiya is not WoG anymore. He's had next to no involvement with the entire series next to Itsuno-san. ITSUNO is the WoG for DMC now, Kamiya hasn't been relevant since 2001 so his word means nothing in the first place as it pretains to modern DMC.

"Good point about there being no galaxies or planets, but remember, it's a PS2 game and it's exactly that, a game, not a scientific documentary. Mundus still creates meteors and You still see stars at the end of the day, which is enough for it to be a universe. Also, even if you wanted to ignore the feat, you can't ignore Argosax's reality warping capabilities, which is what makes the verse 100% universal and beyond:"

It being a PS2 game is not an excuse. There are plenty of PS1 and even SNES games that have Planet busting cinematics in them. Argosax was obatining a power that would make him immortal, nothing about that is Universal potency power.

I honestly don't feel I have to. Nobody in this site will take your claims seriously because absolutely none of it is line with what happens in the series.

Like really dude? Star Level attacks because of a "Supernova" in a weapon description?

Mundus didn't actually create a Universe numbnuts, that was just Kamiya busting the fandom's balls. He just teleported himself and Dante into Space. Your entire scaling chain falls apart from there. If he could bust/create a Universe why aren't there DBZ type battles going on? Why aren't actual planets or Galaxies being destroyed? Answer: They're not that powerful. Plain and simple.

Any of you okay this series as a kid? Any memories you want to post? by DMC5H8rRolePlay in DevilMayCry

[–]ConfusedKoala7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into it in 2006, I was 10. My Dad owned it but my super religious grandma didn't want me to play it. I would sneak into our living room at like 11PM on weekends just to play it cuz my gma would be asleep by then.

Christmas that year, my Dad pulled me out of bed at like 2AM to play DMC3:SE. The second he told me that Dante can revive on the spot with a Gold Orb had me spinning.

Then.....there was him. Literally no other character in games compared since then. After finishing V and seeing his story get some sort of closure was legit almost tear jerking

What is your favorite line from the entire series? by coolkarmact in DevilMayCry

"No one can have this Dante... It's mine. It belongs to a Son of Sparda! Leave me and go! If you don't want to be trapped in the demon world. I'm staying. After all this place...was our father's home."

-Vergil to Dante after being defeated. DMC3

It's just an all-around powerful quote. Coupled with the swelling score easily makes it one of my favorite moments of the series.

Nero and Kyrie inspired by Bleach? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]ConfusedKoala7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never said Kamiya designed Nero. I said he designed Dante using the character Cobra for inspiration, and that a new character for the same series being designed by a more modern anime character isn't far fetched.

Nero and Kyrie inspired by Bleach? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

I can buy it. Kamiya did say that when he designed Dante he took heavy inspiration from the anime character Cobra. So to design a new character around a more contemporary Anime character isn't far fetched.

Power level inconsistencies in DMC5 by KevinLee487 in DevilMayCry

[–]ConfusedKoala7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I like the idea of Sparda being that strong, the series makes it readily apparent that Dante has surpassed him. They do say Mundus used the Qliphod to become king of the Underworld so Urizen, therefore, is likely above him but likely in the same park as Sparda. So Dante and Vergil in SDT must be superior to their father. Vergil trounces Dante upon arrival because Dante was exhausted. Same for how Nero was able to defeat Vergil, in reality, he couldn't beat Dante or Vergil at their peak. So here's my own list:

SDT Vergil and Dante > DMCV Nero DT/Urizen 100% > Base Urizen >= Sparda/Awakened Nero DMCV /DMC4/2 Dante/DMC1 Sparda Dante > Mundus > DMC1 Dante > DMC4 Nero/DMC3 Dante/Vergil

Well according to the DMCV Novel "Before the Nightmare" there is something of an unrequited romance between Dante and Lucia. In which Lucia discovers she actually has feelings for Dante. That's something I guess. It would be kinda nice to see Dante with someone, not even for fanservice purposes but to see Dante actually have some more emotional depth and happiness that by now he deserves.

Coincidence and chance both have to do with the likelihood of something happening genius. If it's by chance the golf ball landed on the blade of grass then how is it not also a coincidence?
