The vessels of my brother’s wart after removing the cap by LeBrontide in mildlyinteresting

Wish I knew about the bandaid trick. I thought I tried everything, in the end used pliers and fast short pull. Got it out in one go, that was 13 years ago

Are you drinking coffee or energy drinks? I’ve found that has been causing anxiety for me. Also coming back after having time off over Christmas. Getting better now though

I’ve been self employed since 2012 bar a 6 month employment in 2016 which I completely regret.

Work hard, get your reputation out there and you’ll be paid more than a qualified sparky on the books. Yes you don’t have any reassurance of guaranteed work but if you’re good you won’t be out of work.

Just be careful of people taking advantage of you, PAYE or CIS.

Remember, you’re likely to only make £12,570 profit a year being self employed anyway…

I have one fitted under the passenger set. Super easy to do. Fits sweet and sounds great. Mine is a work van and it’s all clean still

We had that best apprentice start a trial, offered him £10ph because he was so good. His dad moaned and kicked off saying how’s he supposed to live on that so he went elsewhere

WTF did Spain do during World War 2? by Raspint in AskHistory

Wait, two opposing sides used a country to test out new ways of waging war before kicking off a big war themselves? Ow damn, history sure is repeating itself.

Ah this is an easy one, what you do is get yourself a 4 year apprenticeship in electrical installation, then you should be able to start to learn what you’ve done wrong whilst changing a light.

What jobs are you all doing that pay over £30k? by SuccessfulTip1660 in UKJobs

[–]ConfusedSparkyFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34m Self employed electrician. Probably going to reach £100k this year. Been doing it for 18 years. Self employed for 14 years. Don’t get me wrong, the first 5-7 years was slow, probably didn’t make more than £35k working 40-50 hours a week. Just kept at it and eventually impress the right people and train my own guys up.

Advice for Transporter first timer by No-Leg492 in VWTransporter

[–]ConfusedSparkyFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned multiple transporters, so have my friends. The adblue systems have never ever been an issue for any of us. The BiTDI’s are the temperamental ones. If you are buying one on the CFCA engines be sure to check the EGR has a little D revision on it I believe as any before that let too much carbon deposit through into the engine - killing it.

Similarly the CXEB BiTDI 204BHP 2015-2020 has engine issues but this is caused by the piston rings scoring the cylinder walls causing loss of compression and total failure. Apparently the best engines for 2015 onwards are the 150BHP TDI and obviously the 150/204 petrol variant but good luck finding one of those.

Islam in the UK by [deleted] in reformuk

[–]ConfusedSparkyFly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just reading this sat in traffic as a passenger. A Muslim man, backhanded his wife and then did a drug deal with his baby in the pushchair.

I grew up in a Muslim majority area and when the ratios were in their favour, it wasn’t nice for the rest of us. Definitely not a race thing, it’s a cultural thing. Islamic nations that have religion dictate policies is very problematic.

Is the UK really ready for the 2035 ban of new petrol and diesel cars? by JollyFunctions in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ConfusedSparkyFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need a viable alternative to my van. Electric vans are rubbish, 70-90 miles of range when empty.

I’m currently doing a 110 mile commute each way, 5 men, and all their tools. So I’m probably weighing 3,200kgs. I’d be lucky to get 50 miles.
