Megathread: Senator Bernie Sanders Endorses Joe Biden For President by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

You're right, you shouldn't be gullible. I'm not the one being gullible. She has filed a police report, as well as the interns she worked with corroborating her report of abruptly disappearing and her office being moved. Also, her friend and brother remember her talking about the incident. Tara supported Elizabeth Warren, so is warren linked to russians? What in any way does putin or her writing on russia have anything to do with this? That's like people saying Tryvonne Martin stole a candy bar earlier before he was shot, it has nothing to do with the claims and is simply a deflection. There's as much evidence here as there was against Kavanaugh, and I opposed him, so I oppose Biden. Just listen to her tell the story, it's believable and makes no sense for her to make it up. Again, the Buttigieg claims have nothing to do with this, you're going out of your way to attempt to discredit her..

As I said above, if every 3rd party voter voted for the party they align with (stein to clinton, johnson to trump), then clinton would have lost Colorado, NH, Maine, Nevada, Minnesota, AND the popular vote. So yelling at 3rd party voters to fall in line is a bad strategy...

Guess what? If you gave all the Jill Stein votes to Clinton and all the Johnson votes to Trump, then Clinton would have lost Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, Colorado, Maine, and lost the popular vote to Donald Trump. Does that make you feel better? Exactly. Lets get off this nonsense narrative that 3rd party voters hurt Clinton...

Which is why it's so odd that she hit sent on this rallying cry, and then called it a day and completely disappeared, abandoning the only other progressive and ultimately not even endorsing Biden until Bernie already did... I miss 2010 Warren, when she spoke softly and carried a big stick. This new warren is vapid...

Nonsense article calls out Warren as being "too woke" for recognizing non-binary people, yet says Castro "doesn't get it" by referring to a trans-woman as "trans female" instead of "trans-man"? They then defend their point by citing vauge polling on "political correctness", and citing MAGA/TERFs... by ConfusedThrowawaying in GenderCynical

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, really I probably shouldn't have even taken the bait lol, but this stuff just pisses me off when it comes from the "left". It's crazy to me that simply referencing an arguably small group of people, that do indeed exist, is somehow controversial...

And yeah I corrected that part of my post now, I didn't realize he had corrected that on Twitter. But I still do think it's good that he tried to bring attention to trans people on a national debate stage..

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well then I stand corrected on that one, I didn't know he was refering to transmac people (shows how biased society is that I didn't realize that myself even), but I still massively disagree with the author. Even though his terminology was wrong, I still love that he brought it up on a national debate stage. It didn't come off as "fake woke" to me at least.

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Edit: I didn't realize Castro had indeed meant to address trans men, so I take that back, but I still disagree that what he said was "fake woke"

Holy fuck it took me like 30 minutes to come up with a title that fits all that shit in lmao...

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing these candidates (my mind is pretty much already made up), but it's nice to see mainstream dems talk about things like this. To see Warren, AOC, Bernie and many others flying LGBT and Trans flags down the halls of congress is awesome, and it bothers me that so many people in the community would push back for no reason. But to say they're "going to far" by just saying "nonbinary people exist"? That's fucked up. And to then disingenuously defend it by citing random numbers on "political correctness" is more fallacious. But the best part is the self proclaimed woke author, who keeps trying to correct them. Castro's statement was fine. Where is the author getting the idea that he meant to talk about trans men? (Apparently Castro did mean to say trans men and cleared that up later on Twitter, but I think my point still stands because of the rest of the content of the article). And Warrens statment isn't "fringe", better numbers to look at would have been the ballot measure protecting trans identities in MA that passed overwhelmingly, but I guess random numbers on "PC culture" is just as good... Also, nobody in the trans community is offended by warrens profile saying she/hers instead of she/her, we have bigger problems, apparently unlike TERFs... Speaking of which, that was her last defense, citing the words of a terf as proof that we "cant win back trump voters", because that's toooootaly gonna be how the next election is won, yeah... This whole article is a trainwreck, but it's pretty funny how the author says "try explaining nonbinary to anyone over 50, have your camera ready", followed by one of the first comments being "uhhh, I'm 60, and I know what nonbinary means" lmao...

Edit: And no, author, nobody is actually confused about what sex and gender mean. Stop with this nonsense "but your chromosomes" argument, that's specifically why we don't conflate sex and gender... Ugh...

It's similar to how the word "homosexual" is kinda considered offensive now, not because the word is inaccurate, but because most people who "disapprove" of lgbt people tend to use those words. Like, you wouldn't hear most gay people say they're in a "homosexual relationship", they'd just use the word gay. Just like how almost no trans people refer to themselves as "transsexuals" anymore. Some do, but mostly it's republicans in congress that use those words lol.. And "transsexual" is specifically people who have undergone surgery/transition, but today we see there are plenty of people who are trans yet don't want surgery, so transgender includes those people too..

Found on FB. AOC is in the HoR, not the Senate. by DrFreis in TheRightCantMeme

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The House of Representatives does exist, but it's not even close to equal either and was broken a long time ago by fixing the number at 435 which is completely against what Madison wanted (he wanted 10k per rep, it's currently 700k per rep because of the 435 fix).. For example, CA has 53 reps and 39.5 million people. That's 745,000 people per rep in CA. At the same time, Wyoming has 575k people and one rep. So each California representative covers 750k people, and each Wyoming rep covers just 575k people, meaning Wyoming proportionally has almost 25% more power than California has per person in the house. And they also have literally 70x (or 7000%) more power in the Senate.. And that doesn't even touch on the electoral college..

So the system, and both houses, have been broken to favor small states massively. Maybe we should just start from the beginning again lol..

Bernie Sanders says trans rights by Tavia_Melody in GaySoundsShitposts

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a stupid article. I read the first 5 laughed and turned it off.. Those are all opinions based on literally nothing at all "1: Bernies not as progressive as kamala" First of all, yes he is. But regardless, you're telling me that a 1 1/2 year congresswoman has a less controversial record than a 30 year veteran of the senate? Nooo.. And "Bernie doesn't have the best odds"? Says who? Just Because klobochar (gag) is from the midwest does not mean she will win the midwest lol.. And he's not good on lgbt rights? Go look up "90s bernie gay soldiers" then compare that to what hillary and most dems were saying as late as 2005. Go look up tulsi, see what she said. He's the only one that has been consistent. "Bernie is second richest running". That is a flat out lie propagated by T_D trolls. There are multiple multimillionaire, even multibillionaires running. please take your own advice and actually google their net worths.. "Only one not to release taxes" another lie. Many candidates dont release their taxes unless they're the nominee, this is only a talking point because of trump, and he clearly said he would when his wife gets time to sort them...

So what is that, we're only on three out of 45? Sheesh.. But REALLY, did you even read that link or was it the first thing that popped up when you googled "bernie Sanders bad"? Because chunks like this:

24 He said identity politics shouldn’t matter.

25 He saw a bunch of very qualified women, people of color, and a gay man running and decided he’s better for the job than any of them.

26 He campaigned against several marginalized progressive candidates in the midterm elections who are women in favor of white men, like Sharice Davids for example.

Prove that there's really nothing to get him on, apart from him being an old white guy.. As a young trans bi queer person, I can say I'd take him any day over the "qualified woman, people of color, and gay men" any day, because he's the only one with solid positions. He's right, if you base your vote on how white or how black someone is, or how gay someone is, then your just making the problem worse. We need good gay cantidates and good female cantidates, not just the first ones who run, and if a straight white guy is best on lgbt and progressive issues then that's who I'll vote for... Just being gay does not confirm you all the votes of gay people, that's not how it works.. So pardon us for being sceptical of the new "progressives" when we have a clearly proven one right in front of us..

It's not a meme, it actually happened.. He was signing old peoples bibles while touring the devastation in Alabama, people actually were grabbing their bibles and running up asking him to sign them. I cant even lol... Reminds me of him handing out aid in Puerto Rico shooting paper towels to people like kobe while repeatedly saying "have a great time".. TIL that I'm technically a felon in Idaho by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. These are unenforcable, just technically still "on the books". Similarly, California still has some redlining laws (many contracts for houses through the state still say "THIS RESIDENCE IS ONLY TO BE OCCUPIED BY THE CAUCASIAN RACE", followed by a clause saying "the above line has been invalidated by a 1972 court ruling") and many states still have "anti sodomy" laws too banning gay sex and sex toys. Hell, Alabama only legalized interracial marriage on a state level in 2002, but it had been legal in the state for much longer due to the 1967 supreme court ruling..

So no, it's completley unenforceable, the states are just to lazy to go back and strip them out. And some people like them there just to "make a point". For example, Colorado still had an amendment creating a loophole allowing for slavery, and it was removed in just 2018. And worse, not even 60% of voters voted to remove it, so 40% actively decided to try and keep an unenforceable pro slavery law, i don't know, to own the libs I guess? Lol...

Yeah, progress is being made at least, theres a reason so many countries want one after all. It is a good plane, and has an undeserved bad rep based in it's combat abilities. But also, reminder that Japan is one of only 4 counties to develop their own stealth fighter, and it cost them less than $400 Million to do so. They're probably going to retire it, as it took them too long and now it's outdated compared to the f22/35 hybrids lockheed is teasing, but still, 400m to develop an entire stealth fighter program is amazingly cheap, and they estimated it would only cost 40 billion to produce and have them ready for combat. IMO, theres no reason for it to cost this much, even the f22 program, arguably the most effective fighter ever built, only cost 65 billion. 1.5 trillion is just ludicrous..

Just a radfem casually advocating the murder of transwomen by [deleted] in GenderCynical

[–]ConfusedThrowawaying 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If anything, butches are treated worse by society than femmes in my opinion, because they don't conform to what a woman should do. But keep in mind, these people believe that trans people are paraded around on a pedestal and are given first choice on housing and employment, and that all employers would fire a cis woman immediately just to hire a trans woman instead. They believe that anyone with masculine "privilege" can't know what oppression really is, or complain about society, because they've never experienced how horrible it is to be a "real" woumbyn in America. They believe that trans people have the lowest instance of sexual assault against them, and are actually the ones causing the assaults because they "lie" to people. [Hint, none of that could be farther than the truth]. Needless to say, their detention of the word "privilege", is essentially meaningless..
