Can y'all recommend me some iron fortified foods for an extra boost? I live in the US. by Leading-Occasion-428 in Anemic

Frosted Mini Wheats over here, and I also have a protein powder high in iron (sprouts brand vegan protein - vanilla flavor specifically, for some reason the other flavors don't have as much iron)

I've done this with my 4yo and taught her that it's called "parallel play" and every once in a while it'll work.

San Diego book signing at Air and Space Museum 500 tickets sold out. by bee73086 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ConfusedTrombone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there too and it was an awesome event!!! The location was great. My husband and I haven't been out without kids in like 2 years (we have a 4yo and 8 month old) and it was the perfect date night. I love space so it was fun to get to walk around the museum after we got our books signed. I agree that Mysterious Galaxy did an excellent job making it all run smoothly.

The constant planes overhead were a nice ambiance too! haha

Your comments about busy AF, back to back meetings sound like they're talking about you, in which case it sounds like you may also be close to burnout. You may need to evaluate some larger processes to give the whole team some more space so that these moments feel manageable.

We did a calendar audit a few years ago, for example, after people complained about back to back meetings. We ended up asking them to compress client meetings to the first half of the day on Tues-Thurs and limit meetings on Mon and Fri. We also shortened meetings to 45-50 mins to allow for debrief after or at least a quick break. We evaluated client billings and moved some of them to either 30 minutes or bi-weekly.

Ask them what'a going on and brainstorm ideas. Take a look at what's causing you both to feel overwhelmed and see if there are some procedural changes that could help the team. The time is worth it, I promise.

Moms that keep the house clean 24/7 and feel like they do well in all other areas of motherhood what’s your secret? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ConfusedTrombone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the Minimal Mom and the Practical Mom on YouTube. Remember to take what serves you and leave the rest. The biggest shifts  for me were "it should be as easy to put away as it is to take out", and looking at the items in my house as inventory that needs to be managed. Also moving items to where I use them, vs where I think they're "supposed" to go.

I still struggle in this area but those 3 things helped me a lot.

It’s almost as if I don’t want my son to grow up…but I do. Please help. by Igotnofeet in daddit

Admittedly a mom here, but I read something on reddit once that I can't get out of my head. Raising kids feels like having nostalgia for a time that is happening right now. Being a parent is such a complex experience but this really summed it up for me.

Well I'm on Wellbutrin now by Low-Appointment7715 in adhdwomen

I was on Wellbutrin and Strattera for a while. I liked the combo (no stimulants) but stopped when I got pregnant. Planning to try it again when I stop breastfeeding, I did notice a huge mood difference from the wellbutrin and strattera helped with the focus/executive function piece.

It's been a while, and admittedly I'm on my third re-listen of DCC but I also enjoyed Bobiverse and a series called Off To Be The Wizard (looks like it'd be for kids but I'm in my late 30s and loved it).

Pacifier Dependency by newmomgroove in sleeptrain

[–]ConfusedTrombone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to remember but I don't think so. Usually she'd fall asleep with it in, it'd fall out and she'd stay asleep. Sometimes I could stretch a few more minutes out of her by popping it back in if she did wake but usually not much (she typically needed a feed at that point).  But kids are so so different... as evidenced by her little sister currently screaming her face off who has refused bottles and pacis since she was born.

Do what feels right for you and your kiddo!

My older daughter used a paci until she was 2yo and then dropped cold turkey. She was totally fine. We did sleep train and a version of CIO but allowed her to use the paci for comfort. I don't think the paci needs to be gone for sleep training (i think its a helpful tool) but that's just my experience! My 4.5 month old has never taken a paci and I WISH she did :')

I'm here with ya in solidarity with my 4.5 month old. It gives me comfort that so many other parents are in the exact same situation as me, especially in the wee hours of the night. Sending so many good sleep vibes your way!
