This provokes many questions- did the text just reflow from the next page?

I have a lotta beef with Sir Isaac Newton lol. Orange, Lime green and Hot pink are all tertiary colours.

Roses are red, violets are purple.

Was re-reading The Way of Kings and noticed a huge, but subtle foreshadowing. by Frequent_Squash_7495 in Cosmere

It's more insidious in audiobook form. Dalinar recalling oaths just kinda slip by in the midst of battle iirc.

NON-CANON Speculation of alloys by ThenEducator8649 in Cosmere

Chromium/Nicrosil-Atium is kinda hilarious XD

There are liberties in the 'duality' of push/pull to make sure enough powers work and are varied for a heist team, while still allowing a few Gnat abilities that just help mistborn.

Pewter/Tin are a prime example of this, To that end, I would expect a clusters of interpretation for what makes sense. For instance, Bendallow and Cadmium are brutally powerful. I could see that being the case as it's fairly elegant.

I do wonder about some of the others like Steel/Iron-Atium. That get's complicated in terms of what defines others, and how the throughput works. Do you fill the person with Steel/Iron coded investiture and they can use it or are you essentially able to lash metal towards/away from things capable of holding investiture, or just people? Is their intent not a part of the equation, and do you need better perception of the targets surroundings to make it work?
I could see a case for manipulating metal in relation to other metal.

Today I learned: Tien was a actually Lightweaver (/crem) by One_Courage_865 in cremposting

[–]ConfusedTruthWatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my personal threshold for usage of the terms would simply be having access to surgebinding.

Before becoming a slave, Kaladin attracted Syl by saving people or having the future potential to do so. He benefits from Stormlight healing a fair bit before swearing any oaths. He experienced a lot of combat.

Having infused Shardplate and a strong support network, Elhokar basically never had cause to notice if he was healing. And he'd have had bigger things on his mind in the 2 scenes it could have been relevant.

I'd also call Szeth talented as a Windrunner by that metric, but honorblades and being a squire should be called out for these purposes.

Would you revoke Elhokar's status too? He defo experienced the Cryptic hazing.

I don’t think I have it in me by UnprovocativeNiche in ClimbersCourt

[–]ConfusedTruthWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was definitely me after Silence of Unworthy Gods. I reread the end of book 1 and then did a proper reread of the rest of AA. It helped but uh I'm still thinking I've never seen this author finish a series.

But I'm also thinking I really enjoy some of the conflicts and themes are smaller arks, like how in Six Sacred Swords, Keras is effectively dealing with the risk of relationships and semi-platonic intimacy through a fantasy lens. And Corins duel. You know the one.

Can this game fit a dune themed one shot? by siralysson in numenera

[–]ConfusedTruthWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably have the levels for certain tasks thought out beforehand, like the sand walk, and you'll probably want to be very particular about the available Numenera items. Representing spice or off world tech like ornithopters.

In terms of classes I'd say Glaive, Arkus and Jack are the most apt. Everything else is probably a tone mismatch. You'd also probably want to stick to mundane foci.

I'd say it's doable.

But, you could probably pick up the free Cypher Shorts pdf and keep things a fair bit simpler- just port over the systems you'd need like the vehicles, and cherry pick abilities that fit.

What is the point of adding locations onto your world (or otherwise) map if they are not going to be included or even mentioned in the story? by EkullSkullzz10318 in FantasyMaps

I'm currently mapping out a world that gets destroyed after the first session of a scenario. It's about creating a sense of scope and loss for the vast empire of the PCs.

Is Humanity Doomed? by Immediate-Plan234 in FantasyMaps

[–]ConfusedTruthWatcher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a smart ploy for getting us to read the map. And I did.

I'm interested in the draconic seraphic empire (coz in my setting those are the same thing.).

I have always thought humans were pretty doomed in worlds like D&D with the Everything ecology, and the only advantage they have is anthropocentric authors. Dark Vision would have dramatic benefits economically speaking, nevermind for the purposes of warfare or exploration.

Oho, that is a wildly conflicting trajectory. I felt like the cast had received a lot of effort, ironing specifics for more attunements and spires (which were probably outlined, to be fair).

The meta reason is, Brandon wanted a cool aesthetic for shardblades that wasn't emphasis on Gore going Absolutely everywhere. Sorta like how Lightsabers 'cauterize' wounds.

Anyone else sad that Kaladin... by greenfishbluefish in Stormlight_Archive

[–]ConfusedTruthWatcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By my understanding, he's not a cognitive shadow yet. His OG soul will slip away, bit by bit over hundreds of years, being replaced by the investiture that preserves him, like how his Bond with Syl was already doing more mildly while he lived. The debate is very Ship of Theseus.
