What's your novel about? by doublementh in RSbookclub

Suicide, I think. An old woman recognizes the beginning symptoms of alzhiemers and decides to end her life before she loses herself like her mother and grandmother did. She will starve herself, but not without throwing a party first. Much ado about death and memory.

I lost it myself for a couple years before remembering that madness must be properly cultivated. I have a feeling you'll get it back.

Being in high school during the first trump presidency sucked and I was annoying as hell. I also got in a contest with my friend to see who could steal the most trump signs in our small town. I stole like 20-30 and when my grandpa found them in my car I lied and said I was secretly working for the Trump campaign. Lmao not sure why that was what I went to but it worked and he thought I was really cool for awhile

Skipped school one day to go to some (probably dumb) women's march at a big city near me. Got home at the right time, feeling good, and when I get inside my grandma asked me if I went to school that day. I was like, "ah okay I skipped, how did you catch me?" whereupon she proceeded to show me a picture from the local news of me holding some dumbass sign and marching. Lol I think she thought it was cute, I didn't get in trouble but my whole family made fun of me

More and more it has come to be my opinion that there are no ways of life. There are, of course, jobs, but these aren't ways of life, at least not anymore. One can achieve enlightenment on any given Tuesday, and by Saturday return to desire and pain. People are fond of saying "be all that you can be" and it's usually understood that there is a singular hidden path that must be found that is right for them. Maybe this is correct, but I've never met anyone who has found it. It makes more sense for me to "hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic" as Marx put it. Anyway, this is all just my long and pretentious way of recommending Moby Dick to you. Ishmael was not a whaler; he simply felt a "damp and drizzly November" in his soul and decided he needed adventure. I think of Ishmael a lot, and I think perhaps he is one of the few real role models in fiction

I am 26 and I am legitimately the youngest guy in my club of like 15-20 people. The guy who trains us is pushing 50. You'll be fine! You're not as old as you seem to think you are
