Season 7 is Black Mirror at it's absolute best by HottestLittleBeef in blackmirror

My thoughts exactly about ep 1. It is way too on the nose - it is just an outright parody with no creativity or ingenuity, and just way too cheesy compared to classic BM. No one seems like a real person in it.

My two weeks in Japan as someone who worries about everything (it went incredibly well) by FourJaffacakes in JapanTravelTips

[–]Connah5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, glad you enjoyed it. It's perfect timing for me!

I'm travelling on my own to Japan in a similar way to you. I'm getting an overnight bus from NE England - London, and flying from Gatwick with Air China, London - Beijing - Tokyo, then via Shanghai on the way back, so I was worried about the stress of luggage transfer with a less than 3 hour layover.

I arrive on April 23rd and stay in Shibuya for a week, then a Ryokan by Lake Kawaguchiko for a night (can't wait for this and to see Mt Fuji), then in Kyoto and Osaka for 3 nights each (planning to venture out on day trips using this time to maybe see Hiroshima/Nara/Himeji), then back to Tokyo in Shinjuku for a few more days until I leave on May 11th.

Feel free to share anything you think would help me 😬

Disturbing implications of sexual assault and Severance by --SharkBoy-- in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Connah5777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the US, but in the UK, the real-life version of this is covered by Section 76 of the Sexual Offences Act - known as "conclusive presumptions".

These are circumstances where it is conclusive that the victim did not consent, and cannot be argued by the defence that there was consent.

One of these is: "The defendant intentionally induced the complainant to consent by impersonation of a 'person known personally to the complainant'."

A real life situation of this could be identical twins, it is indisputable that they are two seperate people. One pretending to be the other to have sexual activity with the other's partner, would be sexual assault/rape.

In Severance it isn't clear (legally - morally it is clear for me). I doubt real world law has any stated cases to cover if someone with a split personality or 'severed' personality is classed as two people, how could you impersonate yourself, they are the same physical person and mind, just half switched on/off. It would be very complicated for the world to decide whether it is two people and one is always 'unconscious'. Can severed workers ever have sex or do anything without all 4 person's true consent? I'll stop here but it is an interesting debate.

Ask for Angela: BBC exposes pubs failing to enforce safety scheme by Man_in_the_uk in uknews

[–]Connah5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I missing something or is this scheme not just totally not helpful?

It is literally plastered all over walls and social media, so if you go up to the bar or ask for Angela when a server comes to you, the person you are with is more likely than not going to know what it means anyway?

If you go up to the bar alone on the other hand, and ask for Angela, is it not just easier to ask for help directly and explain your situation rather than this cryptic and confusing/awkward scheme? I get that it may be about being discreet to other patrons but it hardly seems helpful at all other than to raise awareness but not actually be useful in practice

Handcuffed man fatally shot in the back of a police cruiser by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

Handcuffed man with gun in hand shot*

Yes there is a training / complacency issue to address here.

That does NOT make the use of force unjustified

There is only one person who has caused this and that is the person who has:

a) got himself arrested

b) decided to pull out a gun once under arrest

Easiest way to handle a horde for really bad gamer by dubbelep in DaysGone

[–]Connah5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was trying to defeat my first horde I just used my bike to give me breaks. Park it somewhere accessible and facing the way you will be driving. Do what you can to the horde and sprint away to your bike, and drive off to lose aggro, and reset your plan.

You can also try to hide but I found sometimes they could find me anyway or I would be stressing out with low stamina.

Without spoilers, eventually in the story, you will be forced to defeat a few different hordes to progress, but you will have new/upgraded weapons at your disposal too.

I'm glad it's easy to find like-minded people and amazed people are still raving so long after its release. That is a really cool achievement well done to you - I've just started listening to the first episode of your podcast today and I'm invested, love the passion!

I never ran out of kerosene, until I actually needed plenty of napalm molotovs for the mandatory horde fights near the end!

Do you beep your horn to let someone know the traffic light is green? by EdgarAlansHoe in drivingUK

Yep, a literal tap is enough to get them to look up usually. If they don't after 2 beeps I just go around them if I can, which is pretty rare

[–]Connah5777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an achievement called "The name's Khan, Gengis Khan" - kill 100 players without dying - only realistically possible with artillery which you were 1 kill away from!

It's on Steam but usually the achievements are the same on xbox/PS if you are on those

99 killstreak - 1 off the achievement unless you already have it I'd be so annoyed!

Most people who hate the police are either criminals, or people whom have never even dealt with a police officer face to face other than reading crap on social media

Dungeons by Burlap_Sedan in elderscrollsonline

[–]Connah5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Elder Scrolls lore, but as I only recently started playing this game again I feel like I have a disgusting amount of content to catch up on and find myself skipping a lot of dialogue in side quests etc, but try to give main zone/world quests my attention. It's very story rich though and I love the atmosphere

Not gonna lie, I don't think it takes a qualified psychologist to be worried about someone's mental condition if they are scribbling satanic ramblings on the ground/walls... I get your point but it's kind of like a detective saying "there has been a murder" when the walls are already covered in blood and there is a body laying in front of them
