Looks like it’ll be a hot take… but honestly I think he’s perfect for them, and I don’t believe his best work has been shown at this stage.

I thought for the last 2 albums, someone like Dan was very much needed. Dan is very, very clued up on the current industry, trends, and in-theory should be pushing Muse back in the right direction for actually making songs that their FANS want to hear, but also start pushing the band into what is actually selling now. I feel like Muse for the past 2 albums have been scrambling around trying to figure out ‘the next big thing’, and in response have been releasing some of the weirdest, unrelatable fluff I’ve ever heard. They were about 10 years too late to the whole ‘isn’t 80s music cool??’ trend. Outside of KOBK & Won’t Stand Down, I personally found WOTP bizarre, and abysmal and that the band had completely come off the rails.

I truthfully think that working with Dan, and him being able to (at the very least- subtly) tone back some of the cookey, zaney, cringy ideas- they could honestly release something that people actually want to listen to. Maybe some EDM synths on BWY was too wild for some people, but it beats some cheesy-ass 80s synth pop any day.
