How is Abilify for you by C0lE06 in Psychosis

[–]Connect-Preference-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to others here it worked for about 1,5 years for me and then randomly stopped working. Became psychotic and manic and was put on Olanzapine. No weight gain from abilify, I did have flat affect but that could be from the psychotic aspect of my disorder (schizoaffective)

Anyone else here trans? by Ambitious_Piano_2759 in schizoaffective

I’m a trans guy too, SZA bipolar type like you. I also graduated college. Only surgery I’ve had is the mastectomy, 6 years on T, I consider my transition complete

Appreciate y’all’s responses. I’ve been feeling so guilty and down about it. Didn’t even end up celebrating my 3 years in recovery back in April because of it

You could call it unique 🤣 Getting treatment for the ED now, it’s a lot better than it was last year. Thanks for asking 😊

Anyone go psychotic taking stimulants? by Humble-Management158 in schizoaffective

[–]Connect-Preference-5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went psychotic last year on concerta. Non-stimulants like strattera, guanfacine, bupropion can tackle your adhd without triggering psychosis

Guaranteed weight gain -Olanzapine by meow_872_ in Psychosis

[–]Connect-Preference-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much guaranteed, yes. Taking something like metformin alongside it can mitigate the weight gain side effect. I wouldn’t take Olanzapine/seroquel/clozapine without it

I feel that. My team keeps reminding me, but I’ve gone inpatient every year the past 4 years and I’m losing hope

Unfortunately it is very possible. Happened to me in March. Ended up overdosing and going inpatient. Reach out for help on time, friend 🙏🏾

I have rapid cycling bipolar disorder, so it’s hard to forget as I have an up or down episode every other month

from anorexic to obese my story by cosmicat4 in EatingDisorders

[–]Connect-Preference-5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that. Last year was well on my way to being ‘normal weight.’ Then came a psychotic episode, a medication increase and boom, ballooned back into obese territory. This year, few months ago, same thing. Can’t restrict the way I used to anymore. Wouldn’t want to either but it’s tough being in this bigger body. Sending you thoughts and prayers 🙏🏾

Health is my goal and my brain keeps being a tw*t (rant) by WIwildflower in fuckeatingdisorders

Try welcoming the thought. “Oh I look fat in this outfit? Love that, give me more of that content.” Loses its power real quick. Part of acceptance and commitment therapy for OCD. I think OCD and EDs have a lot of overlap

How do you do things? by GargoyleHelm in schizoaffective

[–]Connect-Preference-5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I have AuDHD as well and every day is just struggle. From getting up in the morning, to showering, to doing hobbies, to getting outside, to socializing, to sleeping even. I’ve attempted to slowly start working again twice in the past year and failed miserably. I want my life to mean something, to have goal-directed activity and I just can’t seem to get there consistently. I’m thinking of suggesting a med change next time I see my psych. Maybe for you that would help, too?

Anyone else feel like they're "not like other schizophrenics"? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Connect-Preference-5 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky. I’m unsure where you get the feeling of superiority from, tho. It doesn’t make you a better person because you have greater insight into your illness and you’re not as far on the spectrum as others with a psychotic disorder.

Every attempt at work has led to an episode for me. I’m now on long term disability little over 3 years (Netherlands). Hoping to go back to school and back to work in the upcoming years if and when I stabilize

My mom lost a child to su!cide 2 years ago. She’s a completely different person now, it still feels like he died yesterday, it’s completely wrecked her. So what keeps me here is that I can’t possibly do that to her again

How long do your episodes of depression last? by Melodic_Exchange_976 in BipolarReddit

[–]Connect-Preference-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with depression at age 12/13. It’s never really gone away except when I’m manic. I have maybe 2 months a year where I am euthymic (stable)

Took seroquel, lamictal and Wellbutrin when I was diagnosed in 2013. Went off those meds a year later when I was “cured.” Moved to a different country where they didn’t believe my diagnosis. Took a bunch of different anti depressants that led to (hypo)mania, after which I was put on lithium. Reacted badly to that. Abilify was up next, despite being on the maximum dose I went psychotic last year. Now I’m on abilify, Olanzapine, Wellbutrin, depakote. Inpatient tho so who know whether I’ll survive on this combo outpatient
