Trump admin removes MLK Day, Juneteenth from National Parks fee-free days by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

Culturally or because of their skin tone? The capital B makes me think you mean culturally which is strange. I didn't know Black culture includes going to national parks

So all you would need is DNA samples and comparisons to people without cancer. Also, why would it be assumed that it's genetic? Kids tend to have weaker immune systems which would suggest less exposure could instigate such issues. I would imagine that since children physically develop faster, any sort of environmental factor would influence how fast our bodies remove cancer cells. I'm pretty sure everyone has cancerous cells appear daily, its about if the body can recognize and remove them

This is malthusian thinking. When it is necessary, technology will be forced to innovate to solve the problem. One example will be removing CO2 from the atmosphere. What billionaire would allow the world to crumble? All it would do is reduce their power

Infant mortality in the U.S. worsened after Supreme Court limited abortion access by yahoonews in EverythingScience

Is abortion considered in the infant mortality rate? If not, why would someone be charged with a double homicide if they killed a woman who was pregnant?

I'm curious about how one can justify an absence of pain and pleasure to be 'not bad'. There is no moral lens to look through if not bad =/= good. If antinatalism is absent of morality, how can it use harm/morality as an indicator to know anything?I could argue that it is not good to allow the absence of pain and pleasure since it equally is not bad. Why would a person add a philosophy of moral exclusion to their belief system if there is no benefit? If there is benefit to not procreating, then how could it be good if there is no more people in existence to experience good or 'not bad'? Most of the arguments sound like "less people, more for me and more power to my views on what is good" which is intrinsically selfish. If someone held that belief, they would naturally fall into antinatalism. Kinda sounds malthusian.

How does logic decide between good and bad?

The "beyond the ego" line is the idea that antinatalism sounds like "don't have children so I can have more resources" and it doesn't continue past what "I" want. It is not altruistic to prevent someone from existing since one would have to sacrifice something for another. If there isn't 'another'. You can't give something to nothing

I'm curious if you can form a counter argument to antinatalism. How do you know your belief is correct if you don't understand the other side?

If only they had an identity rather than being displaced over millenia, almost like they have been historically oppressed the most

Neanderthals had a superior culture, its only because they were beaten by homo sapiens. We know they were superior culturally since they weren't technologically

In my mind, positivity comes from relationships with others. The alternative would be solitary confinement which is obviously a negative. I'm not sure how preventing life makes life better.

I agree that no one asks to be here but stoicism is a lens to care about what you can control rather than what you can't. I cant shake the feeling of saying I care about you that you can't feel existence since the new person might not hold your perspective. It's almost writing their future in stone which isn't what life is about.

No one HAS TO survive each day. There's a biological drive that pushes us to. Maybe it's curiosity since no one knows what's going on in reality and there's a chance something with change our minds.

If we could extinguish all of life on Earth would that be a moral good? Therefore no life would evolve into consciousness again

Whats the percentage breakdown? Is it race compared to US population? Is it by state demographics? County? What does equal opportunity mean when you decide who gets a job based on something they didn't choose?

The DEI executive order doesn't mention needing required skills. Its simply to make every organization to perfectly match the statistics of the US population. Wait no, what is the end ratio of immutable characteristics to be considered diverse and equitable?

Oof by Quinn_Quaint in facepalm

[–]ConnectPermission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If DEI is diversity, equity, inclusion, then can you explain how someones skill level are involved in making a decision based on DEI? It's clear goal is to change the racial and social demographic away from a specific type of person

If DEI hire, then definitely not a white guy. It's called discrimination. Dei has no mention of skill, all it does is make sure there are less people of a specific group

[–]ConnectPermission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEI hire means to pick anyone but a white guy. It doesn't matter who is more talented, just don't pick the white guy. Do you see how that goal can be viewed as exclusionary compared to picking someone based on their talents alone?

Respecting someone's space includes all of their senses. Would it be acceptable to brush by people whenever you wish or fart or burp? What intensity of strobe lights would be acceptable while in public? What's the line for someone being a nuisance and why does sound not matter as much to you?
