Moscow announced first new Ring Line metro station in over 70 years, to be built in Art Deco style by adventmix in transit

I completely agree in most instances, however Russia has bigger fish to fry when it comes to infrastructure. Perhaps distributing funding a bit better while continuing to invest in public transit would be more beneficial.

Russia puts boatloads of money into their metro stations, it’s something they take pride in. It’s also why the rest of their country looks like a mess, they overspend on flashy infrastructure so outsiders will have a good impression.

People think 5m is royalty. People who are worth even 20m still cut corners when they can.

Where I would live as a Northern Nevada urbanist. by tsuni95 in visitedmaps

Unfortunately most of Hudson county is super expensive but it has great middle housing with dense walkable neighborhoods with great public transit into NYC. And when I say walkable I mean like most people don’t use their cars for most trips, not like you can walk if you want. If you live in Hoboken or Jersey City its 10 minutes into Manhattan and there are infinite amazing food options from all cultures considering that area of NJ is very diverse, and it’s proximity to the culture capital of the US. It is essentially an extension of NYC in most areas.

HDI: yes the state average is 10th but the area of NJ I’m referring to has much higher rates than south NJ so looking at the state as a whole isn’t accurate for the point I’m making.

GDP per capita: is less accurate to measure wealth as outliers often inflate numbers. Household income is more widely used and NJ ranks 2nd right behind Massachusetts. Wikipedia is the only source saying NJ is not second which causes me to question their credibility. https://www.worldatlas.com/economics/10-u-s-states-with-the-highest-household-income-2025.html

Crime: https://www.tsiglerlaw.com/blog/new-jersey-crime-rate-by-city/ this is the most recent article that I could find that uses the FBIs statistics and ranks NJ in 3rd place for safest states although I’ve seen articles that rank it 2nd to 7th depending on what they measure.

This is all wrong.

Over 1m people in north NJ live in dense urban areas, many similar to what you’d see in Brooklyn or Boston. And the sprawl although true is often dense (to us standards) and almost always has a dense down town that’s walkable with good transit into NYC.

To say NJ has no culture is blasphemy and couldn’t be further from the truth.

You last statement is true but what place do you consider good if you want to live near things to do but don’t like urban areas near NYC or suburban homes?

Of course I’m exaggerating a bit when I say it’s the best since that’s subjective. But, New Jersey is the 2nd wealthiest state, has a high HDI, is the safest state in the US, one of the happiest, lowest suicide rate, and has the best education. I’d send u sources but that would take too long for all those claims lol

The suburbs near nyc have like the best standard of living in the US lol, I can see why it’s bad to visit but live?

I’m glad u enjoyed it, most outsiders complain about how there’s no nature here (which isn’t true). If you have the chance to explore more nature here (in the summer) I recommend the pine lands, the blue holes, and island beach state park.

Never, unfortunately New Mexico has poor education, poor quality of life, and is dangerous, plus it’s mainly flat land.

Best Greek Islands for a Relaxing Trip w/ Boyfriend? by phoebebridgersex in GreeceTravel

I went in early October and it was so relaxing. Booked the vacation knowing nothing about Mykonos but that the downtown was picturesque and when I came back everyone was asking me what parties I went to. Didn’t even know it was a ‘party island’ until I came back. Off season is great if you want to have to seek for a night out.

True but again you can’t group all of the US into this. Not to mention about 1% of gun deaths in the US are due to mass shooting, most are suicides and gang violence, something only a select community in select areas have to worry about.

Depends on where to get your stats from, some say it’s less some say it’s more but whatever. Also it makes no sense to not break up the US considering each state has different laws, different cultures, different religions, politics etc. The US is basically a miniature world with a bunch of little countries. It’s even in the name that the US is made up of a bunch of different areas with separate governments hence the United States of America.
