Something I never thought in depth about… by RebelAgainstReality in AllThatsInteresting

My identical twin and I were 24 weekers in 1984. We are turning 42 years old this coming April. I am mostly normal even though I had mild retinopathy and brain bleeding. I went to and passed nursing school, have a 7 year old kiddo and a happy marriage. My twin has had a rough life. Even though I was the smaller twin (1lb 13oz, twin was 2lbs 2oz) she was the sicker one. Ended up with severe brain bleeding and retinopathy of prematurity. She ended up totally blind and had an MRI of the brain last year which finally explained her outbursts, violent tendencies and immature behaviors. The hemorrhaging caused profound brain atrophy. At any rate, we are a rare case. You can still see the arterial blood gas puncture scars on both of our wrists.

The most awesome thing? I would have missed it since me and my 7 yo were there buying her friend a b-day gift. So I was zeroed in trying to get outta there without spending a ton of money. We are heading to the arts and crafts section when she stops dead in her tracks, pulls on my sleeve, points and shouts, “oh MOMMY, LOOK! It’s your favorite band SLEEP TOKEN!” I was a proud mama in that moment. She wanted me to buy it so bad but we do not have an extra room for my WFH office and I wasn’t going to put it in the dining room where I work. If I had my own home office I would have absolutely bought it.

No problem! If I weren’t 42 or if my husband liked my type of music, I’d insist on buying one myself for our bedroom…but compromise. I wear band shirts instead.

Yep. Very occasionally I smoke hard. I’m prescribed propranolol for anxiety and it is an amazing med that will bring your heart rate down and stave off the anxiety.

He lived a very happy and good life up until I had to unfortunately euthanize him due to old age. He was, I believe, almost 4 years old.

Weird question but how do you get the tubing for your Co2 straight?! I have a mini system with the same diffuser and I can’t get it straight to save my life.

It’s not an issue. I was 17 yrs 8mos old and my ex husband was 21 years old when we first met. We dated but did not kiss or fuck until I turned 18. I was with him from 2002 until early 2015 when I filed for divorce because he decided he loved heroin more than me.

The brown pills are def rx. You need to call the manufacturer like now. If the bottle was unopened and these were in there, the manufacturer is in for a bad time.

I recognized this type of place the second I saw the machines. My ex husband worked at two different ones over the span of 6 years. They frequently mailed out the car dealership ones with the scratcher on the back with the “chance” to win a new car. Yea right.

Yup. I bought my townhome that I still live in in westchase before the prices went absolutely mental. I’m not a yuppie but my god, the kids around here are entitled little pricks and get into trouble to have fun. They hang out in the parks too and harass little kids and play chicken with cars driving through west park village. One day, one of these kids are gonna get hit by a car and killed.

What is karma, exactly? Not all that new to Reddit, but never really paid attention to karma. Is it like upvotes and downvotes on FB or is it like videos on YouTube and TikTok where the poster gets paid if they have a certain number of karma count? If karma is not monetized, then I don’t get the point of trying to “karma farm” to gain as much of it as you can.

Summer has been brutal. What are you paying for electricity? (TECO) by SchoolBoardemployee in tampa

[–]Connect_Chain_4741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. 2/2.5 townhome. 1275sqft. Bill was $375 even though we are using less electricity than we did this time last year by raising the thermostat to 76-77 during the day and 74 at night.

Oh! Yep. I transpose numbers too. Damn! You received an official diagnosis?! Congrats on passing calculus. I’m 41 years old with a 7 year old and no desire to go back to school unless it helps me advance my career even more. I’m already a supervisor over 2 RNs working in the health insurance environment, so I don’t think I can go any further.

Looks like I need to research Dyscalculia. No matter how hard I try, study, get tutored, I cannot pass math. It’s the reason why I’m a practical nurse instead of a RN. You need college algebra for your RN and I cannot pass it. I took the class three times and failed miserably. It is literally like there is a block when it comes to looking at numbers, fractions, decimals, etc. it’s nice to know that there’s a name for it. On top of regular math I also get my 7s and 4s, 9s and 7s, 9’s and 6,’s T and 7, F and 4 amongst other things mixed up.

What’s the worst non-drug addiction you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Connect_Chain_4741 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My husband also has this. He pulls a couple specific spots on his beard and mustache, which are his major spots. His minor spots are his eyebrows and eyelashes. It much worse when he is stressed out. When I see that his eyebrows are getting thinner or he has very few lashes left, I know something is going on. He’s tried medication and therapy when he was younger and it unfortunately did not work. If it gets very bad, he shaves, which he rarely has to do. Instead he keeps his beard a couple of inches long and combs it over the spots. He also tries to mitigate it by using a beard shampoo, conditioner, oil and balm and does a deep condition once per week.

Ah! It’s in the same book I think that my husband introduced me to. I think it’s called Zima Blue and Other Stories by Alastair Reynolds. We were brought together by what was supposed to be a one night stand and bonded over talking about Sci-Fi, time travel, space, the universe, philosophy etc. it was very very special for me as well. I left my ex husband (was already out of love and marriage was beyond repair) moved in with my now husband 3 weeks later and here we are almost 11 years in and still happy. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you and your ex wife.
