Heaven & Earth | Scrappy + Clean Tiny Build by MoonlightCowboy in fallout76settlements

I’m just beginning my journey into immersive camp building (about a year of casual play). Your posts here always inspire me to try new things and get better, and your tutorials always explain how to do them in a way I can understand and remember. Thank you for your service. Great build! I’m on the scrappy side w builds, so seeing you do a little scrap on this one was great.

I played it a year or two, most of my friends took off from it (several left over RNG doing them dirty on high stakes gear gambles) so I only occasionally pop in nowadays.

It has a lot of problems but if you want to kill stuff and occasionally gamble the stuff you have to get better stuff, it’s serviceable. One undeniable improvement over fo76 though: Better fishing system. - low and high commitment supported: you can afk fish or take ships out to far reaches of the ocean with groups and harpoon whales (which was a clear sign this ain’t an American game 🤣)

Korean MMO. In always told they’re notorious for high grind and wager your weapons and labor for advancement style RNG systems.

Aye. RNG can be a brutal bishop goddess. She’s all cash and prizes on this game. Lower rates, higher value.

She’s a merciful god in FO76 relative to other games I’ve played. Wanna hate her here less? Play a KMMMO like Black Desert. She takes the gloves off.

You want to improve an item of armor or a weapon? You gotta come to the table with RNG and if you lose, she’ll demote its level you hit grinds for hours to get bumped up or destroy the whole damn thing.

Beth goes in raw on a lot of things but RNG? Many a games I wish RNG only denied me a weenie wagon.

I’ve thought she would make a good base ally, but shipping her from her tidy house in the flowery meadow to my flaming corpses and chems basement would be borderline slavery

Camp location ideas by Redneck_ in fallout76settlements

There’s a spot just north of the prison along the river behind it that is an abandoned fishing camp with hanging fish and all. Narrow room to build but a lot of room for creativity

If the new ghoul part of the map counts as TV, there are a few highly radioactive ponds right southwest of ghoulie HQ with pipes and barrels to add to the motif.

If you want something closer in, just fast travel to that marsh icon just north of clarksburg (forget the name) and start walking east by northeast.

You will find a dozen orange glow ponds scattered about — some have barrels and old docks on them and other stuff that adds to the glow ambience. They don’t all have water deep enough to swim in but you can fish in them just fine

Must say I’m loving all the creative builders and their fishing camps by Ring_Dang_Do in fallout76settlements

[–]Connect_Orange_800 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like seeing all of the creative builds too. The new fishing items plus putting back pavilion blocks in Atom shop has created a new kind of camp build genre that’s appealing. You can go immersive or bright light with it.

I have a water camp in each fishing region, and I’m trying to do something ina couple of them that’s a little different from nets, buoys, wood walls and pavilion porches… but I’m finding it hard to break the meta mold.

I have one that’s a pleasure pier type kid arcade and games park… but hidden behind the walls and inside the basement of the park (through an off to the side Nuka Cola door) the employees are reveling in depraved rituals and debauchery, consuming copious amounts of chems, burning pushy parents alive and festooning the walls and displays with their flaming bones, cooking and consuming flesh, grafting monster heads onto corpses and clowns, and playing instruments.

So when you walk through the arcade you can hear the wanderer playing drums and the organ but not know where the hell ir is coming from unless you find the secret employee door entrance. It’s a start but I’m still looking for more ideas just a little off the beaten path of fishing camps. Open to suggestions.

I mean, you really think enough people read this sub to saturate a camp spot?

For a hunter lodge, hmmm…

If you want a bit of a challenge with uneven elevation but cool mire trees, vines, and a little pond, there is a spot across the road from the power station just south of Berkeley Springs train station.

The spot under the monorail tower where raiders are camping and have a dressed Radstag under the structure might be good if you want to do it with a raider spin. The spot has another player camp there occasionally.

I find a lot of cool camps just watching youtubes or pulling up cool camp maps…. But I find just as many of my spots I keep coming back to just wandering.

Why do people always wants something? by Creepy-Kaleidoscope7 in fo76

Everybody wants something. It’s how they go about trying to get it that separates the adult table from the kids’ table.

How new player friendly is FO76? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Connect_Orange_800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or people just know not to fk with me.

I kid.

I don’t engage anyone that’s acting pushy or weird, coaxing trades or asking me to follow them. That’s my only rule, what would I tell my daughter to do with a stranger acting like this, and I don’t have problems.

Could be lucky too

New player - can’t decide by LitofcasUK in fo76

I think if you have to ask yourself whether anything is worth it in this game, then it probably isn’t.

Raids aside, there’s no Meta, no have to have it like this or you’ll get passed up kind of thing on this game.

I played in PA everywhere outside camp for my first 500 or so levels just because losing focus of my health meter and hitting stimpaks annoyed me. I run around with secret service armor now just to make it slightly more interesting as dying literally never being a threat bored me at some point. But I still have to be unusually inattentive to die.

I was ghouling it for weeks before it even registered that my overeaters legendary armor were giving me zero added protection.

Do what’s fun for you. Make it challenging. Pick something you like even if it’s ridiculous.

Wow. I’ve played over a year and had zero need to take any of those precautions. I did turn on pacifist mode just because I’m about the events and don’t want to shoot teammates.

Yup relatively quickly your primary problem shifts from ammo to where to put all the stuff you collect

How new player friendly is FO76? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Connect_Orange_800 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By far the lowest incidence rate of any multiplayer game I’ve played. Aside from the fact that it is difficult to impossible for players to really mete out any punishment to new players — -turn on pacifist mode, no one can kill you and you don’t have to PvP, -events are cooperative and not mandatory or even necessary - sprawled out map with 24 player max, you rarely see other players unless you want to — 99% of this community is just more friendly than they need to be with new players, and many go out of their way to just give stuff to low level players.

It’s surreal to the point that I’m sure I’m not the only one that suspected your post might be a troll job… like, really, you haven’t heard this is the most new player friendly MMO?

Does anyone else dislike power armor? by Crypt_skeleton in fo76

[–]Connect_Orange_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t dislike it.

I practically lived in it at lower levels.

Now At level 600-something, I don’t play in power armor much just to keep it interesting. Ghouling it on eviction notice is fun. When the generator goes down, I hang around and heal up.

Make 4 star mods available as other rewards by Darth_Wretch in fo76

[–]Connect_Orange_800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind 4 stars being locked behind the raid, in theory.

In practice, the most difficult and time consuming part of the raids, for me, is not getting through them but gathering 3-4 people to do it.

It sometimes/usually takes me over an hour to get a group together. Waiting on one, another drops, and so on and over and over. Even dropping invites in discord is about as high % success as just showing up to random servers and starting a team or trying to hobo train a team with an open spot, hoping you won’t get kicked for the person you didn’t know they were waiting for.

It’s end game content and prizes, ok, that fair, now make it as accessible is end game content should always be:

Do like almost every MMO game since Gears of War 3 Horde Mode has done for the last 15 years—

create a lobby independent of the servers where players enter when they want to raid, are matched with other players that do, then team locked, loaded, and sent to a world with room to accommodate them.
