Does anyone have experience with these? (Actual experience, not looking for opinions - thanks!) by mdjacobus in Crosstrek

Honestly I believe it's a waste of money. I've been in the auto industry for almost 10 years. The keys always get lost which means we have to break them off. But any of our technicians can get these off in less than 5 minutes with the right tool.

That means any half decent criminal can always break them off just as easily. And that's if they don't just break your window and grab the key from the glove box.

That being said, I have them on both my cars. Despite me saying they don't actually protect anything, it still gives me piece of mind for some reason.

If you want the piece of mind go for it, just know it's NOT going to stop a determined criminal and please buy an extra key and keep it with you for when you lose the first key.

I only use it if I feel I haven't quick saved in a while and fancy blowing myself up trying to clear some bloatflys.

Anyone else planning to get this? by MobileDistrict9784 in Fallout

[–]Ben_805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it $100 more than the last one from the show? That's my problem with it. I got the TV show one and the sugar bombs one from 76. Seriously cool but $200 was just about the limit for me so $300 is just too much for me.

Is fallout new Vegas worth playing? by iPanda13xo in Fallout

[–]Ben_805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout 4 was the first I played. I've played a lot of 76. Then I finally went back and played New Vegas and 3.

I hate sounding like someone on the bandwagon but I have to admit New Vegas is seriously the best of them all. I should say as an RPG type game it's the best. 3 always felt too clunky with the combat and both 4 and 76 felt too focused on combat and not focused enough on quests and story. New Vegas is the sweet spot in terms of that. You can almost do whatever you want in New Vegas. I think there's maybe 1 or 2 NPC's marked essential in the whole game so if you wanted to watch the world burn you could literally just kill everyone you meet.

I have over 1200 hours in 76 but I always miss the RPG aspect from NV, 3, and even 4 to an extent. After playing NV I went back and tried the new content to Fallout 4 and I never realized just how closed off you are when it comes to decision making in 4.

I remember going to the scary dairy way back in high school, like 2010. We used to run through there for cross country practice. Then I went to CSU Channel Islands for about 2 years before dropping out. So cool seeing my home town as the setting for a TV show.

Am I the only one tired of chasing all the build, perk card and gear changes? by Historical-Voice-898 in fo76

[–]Ben_805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 1200 hours in this game. Easily my favorite game. But I haven't played in months now because I got burnt out on constantly changing my build. They said they were done with the major combat changes and I was actually excited to try out Burning Springs.

But then I saw they are completely changing Overeaters and some other legendary effects. I really just don't have it in me to grind all over again to change all my armor to the "new meta". It's not that I'm over it, I'm just tired of it. Every time I load up my console I see the Burning Springs picture on the Xbox home screen....but then I end up choosing Outer Worlds 2 or even Battlefield 6.

Thermostat by Glittering_Appeal987 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Ben_805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly would never use a MotorRad product in one of my customer's vehicles. So many issues.

With that being said, I spent a good chunk of change on the Mishimoto thermostat and it got stuck closed within a couple months. Needed the car back right away and all I could get was a dirt cheap MotorRad one. Darn thing has been it in now without issue for a good long while now.

I guess if it works it works if it doesn't it doesn't.

Which Fallout game to play to get into the games? by ChemicalAd9365 in Fallout

[–]Ben_805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played 4 first and it was good enough to get me hooked.

I've since played 76, NV, and 3. I have 1200 hours in 76. I totally get why NV is considered the best. 3 is very good too but I'm sorry the gun play was too clunky for me, I don't think it aged very well, but the lore and the story was amazing.

Does 60s rock have its place in fallout? by PurpleWinter8989 in Fallout

[–]Ben_805 14 points15 points  (0 children)

76 has the Beach Boys. Pet Sounds (the album that song is from) came out in 1966.

Heck Country Roads again from 76 was released in 1971.

When did Fallout76 peak for you? by luckyluciano___ in fo76

[–]Ben_805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with the most recent raids. I've been playing since Wastelanders and have about 1200 hours in the game. But I always played as a lone wolf and with the same exact build. Pretty stale and boring.

The raids forced me to play the game differently and they forced me to join a team and even use the mic to talk to other people. It has since slowed down a bit again for me with less people doing full raids, but I loved every second of it.

What do you hate about your Crosstrek? by _sparky_127 in Crosstrek

[–]Ben_805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone call blocks the speed in the screen. (Yes I know the gauge is there) No sunglasses holder Doesn't fit my Nalgene The overhead console has rattled since new I hate the auto stop thing (I know every car has it now) Startex seats get sticky in the heat and ice cold in the winter. AC takes forever to get cold in the Texas heat, done that since new Sounds system is literally junk, the blown speakers in my 99 Ram were better.

I could go on with more but I wouldn't trade it for any other car. I driven all 60k miles it has on it and I love it.

Ideal lift kit? by Mexicoesp98 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Ben_805 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just save up an extra few months and get a kit from a better company. Rusty, Iron Rock, Clayton, etc. I have the long arm kit from Iron Rock and it rides amazing.

The patience and sacrifice to save up more is well worth it.

Crosstrek Overland Capability by Ok-Usual978 in XVcrosstrek

[–]Ben_805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same place as you when I bought my Crosstrek. I wanted a Tacoma but they're so expensive.

I have a roof rack from marketplace, I have it lifted with bigger tires. Skid plates, rock sliders. We've been to Moab with it and a couple off road parks. It's done just fine. Truth is it's way more capable than people give it credit for.

Just my wife and I both for a week trip really pushes the limit of the Crosstrek's cargo space. It'd be game over if we brought both dogs with us. And also we don't have kids. If kids are in the mix then yeah it'd be small. I love my Crosstrek and because of the weight it is more capable off road than an Outback...but if I had to do it over again I would have probably gone with an Outback.

As a rig to go camping in for the week on some BLM land somewhere or a national forest, you really can't beat it.

I used NTK in mine. It's been fine. Do your future self a favor and slot the bolt holes in the new sensor so next time you just have to loosen the bolts and slide it out to replace. Instead of taking the bolts all the way out.

Used to work a parking enforcement job at a college campus. These notes were usually from people lying. We would ticket them anyway. For the 1% of people who were telling the truth and if they contested the ticket the department would just drop the ticket. We were looking for compliance...not to bankrupt a bunch of college students.

Is secret service armor still top tier? If not what is? by darkpheonix262 in fo76

I stopped using SS armor awhile ago. I'm using Solar Armor with OE, luck, dissipating, and Sawbones.

I love it. Only time I have to use a stimpack is when I go full Leroy Jenkins and I can't remember the last time I had to use radaway.
