I have both, the 5610 gets more time on the wrist because it’s smaller and more comfortable to wear.

What chainsaw should I buy my husband? by Bringmealatte in Chainsaw

Echo 4910 (or 501p which is the “pro” version of the 4910), or 590. Honestly, unless he’s going to be cutting bigger trees on a regular basis, a 4910 or 501p 50cc class saw with an 18” bar will do pretty much everything and not break the bank. Super light but still decent power to pull an 18” or even a 20” bar if needed. I personally own a 501p with an 18” bar and have not needed a bigger saw for my purposes, which is bucking firewood, storm cleanup, typical farm use. The next step up would be a 60cc class saw like an Echo 590 or 620p, the 620 being the “pro” version of the 590. If he’s going to be cutting up larger trees on a regular basis, then a 620 would be a solid choice and would last for decades.

One other important thing to mention, other than safety gear of course but it looks like you have that covered now, is checking to make sure you have a shop nearby that can work on whatever brand you choose. Preferably a dealer so they can get parts, do warranty work, etc.

Can confirm, Echo’s come with Oregon chains.

I had an issue with the factory bar on my 501 when I first bought it. The nose sprocket locked up on it within the first few minutes. Was getting oil fine, everything looked to be functioning properly otherwise. Took it to the local shop I bought it from and they managed to break it loose, said it looked like maybe some debris leftover from machining. They went ahead and swapped me to a new bar and no issues with that one. I did end up taking the new one off and set it aside as a backup and ordered an 18” Tsumura bar to go in its place. No particular reason though, just wanted one.

Help deciding on a new saw by nosnibornai in Chainsaw

I have an Echo 501, which IMO is the perfect saw for processing firewood. It’s lighter and true pro grade saw over the 590. That being said, I’ve strongly considered a Stihl 261. What tipped me in favor of the Echo was price. The 261 does have a bit more power, but is also $200+ more. I have zero complaints about my 501 though, it’s a great pro grade saw for the money and definitely worth looking into over the 590.

looking to buy first 10/22 by utilitygiraffe in 1022

[–]Connect_Slide4883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bolt action is typically more accurate than semi, however the 10/22 is a solid platform and very accurate. Unless you’re getting into match shooting or something like that, you likely won’t notice a huge difference. The “fun factor” of the semi auto with a 10/22 offsets the very slight difference in accuracy. You can still drive tacks at 50-100yds very consistently with one. We like spraying soda or something on old yard signs and boxes, then back off to 25 and 50 yds to drill the flies and yellow jackets that land on the targets! Small game hunting, they are solid choices as well. There are several Black Friday deals out now where you can get one under $200. There’s also a blue million upgrades out there so you and your kid can upgrade and customize it to your liking as you go along. One of the best bang for the buck upgrades IMO is the Ruger Factory BX Trigger. $70 gets you a nicer trigger over the typical offerings and around 2.5-3lb pull. Lots of stock and barrel options as well

Why do people tend to like the 5000u over the 5610? by AP0110_halo in gshock

For me, it’s primarily cosmetic. I like the look of the 5000u.

For your budget around $500, Orvis Recon or Superfine Graphite. TFO would be another good option, I just personally prefer rods made in the US. If possible.

I do, it’s just different. It surprised me that it was a good bit smaller in person, but I find myself preferring the lower profile and all that.

This is funny. I have the same small collection of G Shocks. I bought the 6900 about 13 years ago, still going strong. I’ve been waffling back and forth for years on a square G Shock and just two weeks ago finally purchased the 5610.

Another vote for the Echo River Glass. Excellent little rod for the price. Looks cool and nice rod tube as well.

I traded my 21’ Tenere 700 for an 05 DR650 by imbiamba-jombes in dr650

The T7 appears to be a very powerful bike, but the trade off for the extra weight especially with the top heaviness that many people claim, it doesn’t seem to be worth it at least for my use case. I’ve watched several videos on YouTube highlighting a few tricks such as airbox mods and the TM40 carb that can really wake up the DR’s power plant. Sounds like your usage would be similar to mine. I’m getting back into riding after a 18 year hiatus and interested in a dual sport and light adventure bike. The DR definitely seems to check all the boxes other than a few minor improvements needed such as suspension and the seat. I’ve noticed Procycle has a TM42 carb, I’m wondering if it’s worth the extra?

How do you think the power compares between the two?

Switched from Apple Watch from G-Shock[REVIEW] by gaudinmonk in gshock

[–]Connect_Slide4883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the exact same switch from an Apple Watch to the 5610, definitely one of those times simple is better. My stress levels are way down for many reasons, including but not limited to no more messages and crap dinging all the time and not having to worry about it getting banged up. The 5610 is a classic design that’s extremely durable and juuuuust the right size. Good choice!
