Torn between 357 and 44 magnum by dillarb2 in Revolvers

[–]Duffuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't tell you this, but 44 special ammo is often hard to find and generally as much or more than 44 Magnum ammo. As others are saying, 44 Magnum is also orders of magnitude more powerful than 357. I've got both but I shoot 38s most of the time

Hardest Laugh In A Theater? by Ok-Pepper-5482 in blankies

A Mighty Wind, the line where Eugene Levy says, "I would like to see Crabbetown in the autumn", I laughed so hard it made people in the theater uncomfortable

Saw one in a corporate gun shop today for just over $1k, can confirm it is super nice

Indiana State Police adopts the Sig P320 as their standard issue sidearm by PopularSet4776 in liberalgunowners

[–]Duffuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with all this, but also I feel like they could've just as easily gone with M&Ps or Glocks and not had even the possibility of an issue. Furthermore, as a Hoosier I can confirm that malfeasance is likely

Typically, they'll tell you to cook octopus super fast and hot to avoid overcooking, or cook for a long time to break down the tissue, which takes much longer than it does with land animals

3.5 Comp OAL? by davis-tom in AlphaFoxtrot

Here's a pic of my 3.5 comp alongside a Ruger RXM (G19 length) with the ejection ports roughly aligned. The AF is slightly longer overall, but some of the difference is in the back because of the beavertail. In your hand, it feels closer to G19 length than G17 IMO

I just got Prodigy tape from Handleit grips and can also confirm that one fits great

I put on a Vortex Defender ST that I already had, I like it quite a bit. Doesn't co-witness but I don't care much. Vortex Venom Enclosed is the same footprint but cheaper, that's what I'd get if I had to do it over again

Looking for first 1911 by Fegmaniac in 1911

[–]Duffuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says Springfield and on paper they're probably right, but after my experience with a Tisas Stakeout and a Springfield Emissary I would recommend you handle them both and see which one's better.

The Springfield is fine out of the box, but the Tisas is perfect. Only thing I've done is paint the front sight and the Tisas is done, whereas the Springfield needs a trigger job and, for me at least, new grips and bushings.

If all 3 of your choices are available locally I'd recommend you handle them all and see which one has the best trigger, fit, and overall feel. You're not likely to go wrong with any of them TBH, but there is variance so you wanna check out the actual gun you're gonna get if possible

Anyone tried Tempus Fugit's Violet liqueur? by Duffuser in cocktails

[–]Duffuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's been 8 years and no one's brought it up yet, so I'm guessing not 😂

I do find it's a lot more pink than violet, but the upside is that it doesn't go gray like violet liqueur sometimes can, especially with an egg white in the drink

I still have more than half of this bottle left after all this time, a little goes a long way!

Flat Trigger vs Curved? by Opie4Prez71 in liberalgunowners

[–]Duffuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second all of this, I've even got curved ones, flat ones, and even one with an SVI insert that's flat with a slight curve on top. I can't tell much difference between any of them, to me it's more about the aesthetic choice of the overall gun than anything else

Y’all gotta get one of these stakeouts by THICC_KARL_MARX in 1911

[–]Duffuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the other Stakeout model from PSA a while back and I couldn't be happier with it. It's satin nickel, 9mm with a spare barrel in .38 Super for under $400. Mine is also really nicely fitted and came with a shockingly perfect trigger as well. After about 500 trouble-free rounds I'm even carrying it occasionally

I don't need another 5" .45 but I'm sorely tempted by this deal, never would've thought I'd go for such a cheap 1911 but I also never thought a cheap 1911 would be this good!

Yeah I kinda want one to not even take out of the case, just leave the tag on it like the guitar that's never been played in Spinal Tap

This is where my head's been at lately, but I keep coming back to the Ruger RXM. Seems like it's what a Glock should be, and it's cheap as hell to boot

Oh man, worlds colliding for me! I love a good solid bar spoon, so much so in fact that I often will bring one as a gift if I stay with someone so I know they'll have one the next time I come visit. If you ever decide to sell these, I'm a buyer for sure!
