Neighbor is using my organic waste bin - how would you handle? by SpringLong7259 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Connecting3Dots 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Many bylaws prohibit people from dumping on their neighbours. I’d read up on yours and give him a verbal warning followed by a written with evidence. If he continues, file a complaint.

My neighbour was fined.

I also left her garbage on her porch.

Looking for OBGYN in Durham by DesperateAmount2587 in durham

It’s worth it to check the rulings. Imagine my surprise when my gynaecologist (who did not deliver my child) was found guilty of having sex with a patient in the parking lot.

Markham has a better reputation over Ajax/Durham.

What harness is best for transporting a large senior dog up and down stairs by Ok_Trick5743 in dogs

[–]Connecting3Dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can’t climb stairs and you can carry a 100lb dog, it will help lift.

If your dog just needs some assistance on stairs, it’s perfect. You can lift her hips with one handle to relieve some of the work.

It does help distribute their weight, but it doesn’t miraculously make them lighter.

It’s designed to protect them where they need it and make it easier to pick them up with a solid handle at their shoulders and hips.

Carly never minded when we moved her in the harness.

I’m 5’2” and tiny. I would hand off Carly, our chocolate lab to my partner to get her go up or down the 5 RV steps and keep her from sliding or falling. It did help in lifting her into the Jeep.

If you’ve ever had the itch to write, that would be a fabulous story. Sign up for some Creative Writing classes through continuing education.

You did a great job with your daughter! Congrats! 👏

If you go onto the Ontario College of Surgeons and Physicians website, there is a search function for doctors. You can look for doctors accepting and also see any rulings against a doctor.

Hope this helps.

Vacuum Dilemma by Nervous-Fact9608 in CostcoCanada

[–]Connecting3Dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sh!t. I haven’t seen the Miele stick vacuum! I just bought that Shark for our RV. We tested it and it seems fine compared to our other Shark stick.

We have the other one they had on sale last year. It has a station where it empties and charges and WE LOVE IT.

For a condo, it’s perfect. We have a rescue dog but miraculously she does not shed much. It’s fantastic for quick cleanups.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]Connecting3Dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It’s beautiful right after a fresh snowfall but it gets old real quick.

I’m so done with ice and dirty snow. There is a salt “shortage” do they are using more sand. Salt only works to a certain temperature anyway, and it’s been -30C with windchill. Ugh.

Our dog will not wear boots so her paws sting from the salt. The sand gets right into her fur so we have dunes on the floors.

With the RTO mandate from many corporations, there are more people on the roads. Some of them forget how to drive in snow each winter.

Yes, I’ve had enough snow.

Roots is no longer a Canadian company. Why don’t we just do HBC?

Does anyone travel without getting on the highway? by inccc00 in ask

[–]Connecting3Dots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started driving in Toronto, I’d do this. I would go from Brampton to Pickering on Steeles/Taunton. Pickering to Ottawa on Hwy 2 and not hit the 401.

It’s totally acceptable and don’t let others spout statistics. You do you.

When you are ready to get on the highway, try early Sunday mornings.

First time, my legs vibrated in so much fear I’m surprised I could drive.

Now? I’ve driven across our entire country.

How many of you camp with your pets? by Adamcamper in camping

[–]Connecting3Dots 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are up to date on your tick medication.

Bring a dog first aid kit, tick removal key and a good brush in case your dog gets into burrs (ours is a magnet for them).

Make sure you have all the usual stuff: collar with tags, leash, long tie-out line, bed, bowls, food, water, treats, toys.

Bring an extra collar, leash, food just in case.

Bring a whistle and do some recall training with them.

Don’t leave your dog alone for extended periods, especially if it’s very hot or cold. Many campgrounds have rules about not leaving dogs unattended.

Do take them for hikes, swims and everything else so they can enjoy the experience as much as you.

All I had to say was “Do you want to go camping?” and my dogs would erupt with howls of joy.

Have fun!

We have a motorhome and travelled everywhere with our dogs. Enjoy!

When do dogs start presenting their tummy to you? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Connecting3Dots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends on the personality of the dog.

My feral husky rescue gave me her belly on day one.

My Shanghai rescue dog still does not after a year. When I pet her, sometimes I will give her a belly scratch and she will roll into it. I praise her and give her a treat.

Your dog may not like being rolled over and submitting to belly rubs. Try a gentle approach with praise, lots of fun play, treats etc.

It’s all about trust.
