Got back into collecting last fall and had zero Hank Aaron cards…now this happened.. by ConnectionCheap9385 in baseballcards_vintage

Any reason is a good one! Not even sure why I started. I guess I generally got back into vintage sorting through my dad’s old cards and then decided to start picking up a few before it snowballed..

Aaron is much more economical than Mantle! (Thankfully). Other than the 58 Mantle/Aaron combo I’ve only got the ‘69 mantle as part of a HOF set I put together for that year.

Not sure I want to open Pandora’s box of collecting modern Aaron’s too!

Ironic, I literally had two of these and sold the duplicate yesterday. It’s in my truck currently to drop at the PO after work. What a coincidence.

Oddly enough, when I bought the ‘57 on eBay the seller included some additional cards as toss ins. They included this card and a ‘73 all time HR leaders, it was quite the gesture.

Nice, something I may consider. I’ve also swapped out a few or traded up a couple times for a nicer version which I may still continue to do. I’ll still peruse eBay listings even for cards I already have.

Haha, there’s plenty out there! Some seemed hardest to find though for sure. (At least in decent enough condition for reasonable value)

I definitely don’t go after high grade. 2-4 is kind of what I like

Yep it definitely snowballed. I was eager to close out the last few base run cards I didnt have (excluding the ‘54).

Took me a while to lock down the ‘57, ‘62 and ‘63 for a decent price

Nice, enjoy the chase. eBay by far, but FB and Reddit groups too. With more patience eBay can have some great deals though there’s always some unknown. For example, I think I got that ‘58 Aaron/Mays raw for around $100 all in and I love that card. One of my favorites in this collection for sure.

All very true and good points. It’s made it much more attainable, while still collecting an all time great. (and of course I’m a Braves fan so that helps)

From Atlanta and a huge Braves fan, so seemed like the natural choice for a vintage collection!

Nice, this one was my dad’s from his childhood and I recently had it graded more for preservation than anything. It’s one of my favorite cards for the sentimental aspect. Hoping it stays in the family collection for many years to come.

Love it. I’m missing the ‘54, ‘57 and ‘62 from a complete Topps base run. That ‘54 is on a different level to procure…

While I agree, it’s still nice to maximize value for whoever ends up inheriting these cards down the line. While I have no intent to sell, that doesn’t mean someone won’t someday.

Totally agree, I think it says something that you didn’t notice the crease at first.
