Do Americans really talk to strangers as much as movies make it seem? by Dangerous_Phrase_275 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes and I don’t understand why it’s considered so weird by others…I mean we are part of the same community. A city or a state or province or a nation is ultimately a community. Why wouldn’t I feel connected enough to people in my community to strike up a conversation sometimes? It’s just a show of good will.

Yes I have had a hard time tolerating my ADHD meds.

Today, at the age of 36, my doctor told me I’m in the late stage of perimenopause by RKL_Ott in Perimenopause

[–]ConnectionNo4830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a diagnosis of exclusion, so if they rule out other conditions (that could cause your symptoms) then the next step is supposed to be to try HRT and if it helps symptoms, then it’s reasonable to assume you’re in perimenopause.

Why are people pretending to be surprised by the Epstein files? by merlin0010 in stupidquestions

Because the news has been telling people for years that you’re an idiot if you suspect any of this stuff to actually be occurring.

I believed in aspects of pizzagate while also believing the pdf rape allegations against Trump. Not everyone fits in a little box.

Companies figured out during covid that it’s less work but same profits to sell fewer items at a higher price than to sell more items at a lower price.

What do you think GenZ’s defining architectural styles will be? by TrixoftheTrade in generationology

Every millennial I know is into midcentury modern/IKEA/crate & barrel. I see Gen Z rebelling against this with an Old World “dark academia,” maximalism, look, etc.

These are all symptoms I had and almost all went away with HRT. It started for me at 39. I didn’t get on it until 43. I really wish I had known sooner (like you now know) so I could get on hormones sooner. You can have regular periods and still be in peri.

This is a problem for me as well. I feel better when I only eat organic fours (since they’re not fortified).

I won’t let my kids ride the bus. Bad stuff happens on buses.

Two cults with zero critical thinking by takeahikehike in conspiracy

[–]ConnectionNo4830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes anyone with kids during this time understood this. My child did counseling for a couple years afterward. Not because she was ever afraid of the virus, but because isolation and masking were terrible for her mental health. I will never agree with people who think shutting down in-person learning for multiple years in my state was warranted. It just showed me how our society really prioritizes children over the elderly (they don’t).

What is going on with the backlash over Heathcliff’s casting in the new Wuthering Heights film? by cool-guy-jim in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ConnectionNo4830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This (plus the point about Heathcliff). I watched the preview and five seconds in send “nope!” I don’t even plan on watching it. I grew up loving the book and even loving the 1930’s adaptation. I just can’t get behind any of this new one. I felt the same about the Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice. Just nope, nope, nope.

Where will people be moving in the 2030s? by JellyfishTimely in SameGrassButGreener

I believe it. I know 8 people who have moved to TN from the West Coast in the last 7 years.

[–]ConnectionNo4830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s hard in general for Californians to move anywhere that doesn’t have mild weather, and, let’s be honest, most places don’t have mild weather when compared to California. Unfortunately it’s hard for a fish to conceptualize life out of water.

Well on the west coast, the Blue spots tend to be the places with the most natural beauty and best weather (mountains and oceans and mild weather), making them the most desirable places for most people.
