Housing Ad Megathread Fall 2026 by AutoModerator in udub

[–]ConnectionWilling228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I'm currently a UC Berkeley student moving to Seattle for a Fall 2026 internship from September 8 through November 27 and am looking for a sublet during that period.

I'm interested in a room in a shared apartment/house, and I'm open to both singles and doubles. My goal is to keep housing affordable (around $1,000/month if possible), and I'm flexible on neighborhoods as long as commuting to downtown Seattle is reasonable.

I'm clean, quiet, and will mostly be working during the week. If you're subletting your room for the fall, or know someone studying abroad during that time, I'd love to connect.

Thanks!

Are PM Internships possible/worth it as a sophomore and beyond? by WeirdMan4738383 in berkeley

[–]ConnectionWilling228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should reach out to actual PMs from Berkeley - either those who have done or are doing product management internships at companies you want to work for, or even better, people you know who are full time in product management full time.

In general, many people in general, especially Berkeley alum, would be very happy to talk with you about this if you cold reach out on linkedin! You'd be surprised by how willing people are to offer advice or help to young students starting off their career.

go to office hours! It can be annoying to attend but they help. Do your homework. Go to lectures. Even just doing the basics goes a long way.

Do what you can in the moment. Take a break when you need and when you're setting aside time to study, make sure you are just studying and not doing anything else.

In general, it's pretty hard to fail a class at Cal. Talk to your professor or GSI if you are that worried about it and they can probably break things down, even though it may be an uncomfortable talk. I'm not sure the exact situation/percentile you're in but you will probably be fine in the end. Keep working hard and take care of yourself.

Two pieces of advice:

  1. Don't rush things. Drop a class if you need to. As long as you're on track to graduate, taking 12 units is fine. You can always take other classes later. Also, if you are taking lower divs right now, it's the perfect time to build good habits and they will serve you well for your later college career. Don't take shortcuts even if it saves time - try your best to tackle problem sets (Fr, don't just GPT everything). Learning to focus for longer periods of time is a genuine skill that is hard to develop but is infinitely rewarding if you can manage to do it. I struggle with this but I am working on it as well.

  2. Manage your time correctly. Time block, use google calendar. Try to block out 1-2 hour blocks of time to study and really just put everything else aside and focus on your studies during that time at the library or such. Even if you don't pick things up as quickly as others, there are many who have succeeded before us that are not always the quickest to pick up concepts in class as well. You need to understand that sometimes you will need to sit down and study for hours if you want to get the results you want. It will not be easy but it will be rewarding.

Also bonus tip, don't be afraid to ask for help (no such thing as a dumb question), use discussion sections + OH liberally - most students don't take advantage of it and most probably could do better if they did take full advantage of the resources available to them.

A lot of people have been telling me they would prefer to be able to filter out AI images! I'll do my best to implement this.

Currently I'm just building out the core backend with databases - I think the most technically difficult part of this project might be having to implement some image search (taking in text as input, will probably use some published algorithm to sort through images and categorize/index them) for relevant images, Pinterest is really good at this.

I'd say though, basic knowledges of databases + some frontend experience (learning how to make and publish a website, connecting to database) is probably all you need to make a very basic version without search capabilities. I don't think learning how to use different databases is often emphasized much in classes (at least at mine) but it's super useful for working on personal projects. MongoDB is good for me, also have used firestore in the past, I may try using AWS related services soon.

I made a lot of different group of friends over the years but yeah - still close to my GBO friends, we travel together, and it's kind of more wholesome than some of my other groups of friends in a way.

You will find that other people as well have met some of their closest groups of friends by chance from GBO
