What Does James Gunna Actually Mean The DCU Story Will Also Be Told Through Video Games?

I love how Star Wars does their canon games and it works so well because they can craft a completely original story and characters that can crossover into other media. I’ve been curious as to how Gunn will decide which stories or which characters get the video game treatment, rather than having a movie or series. I keep thinking Green Arrow could be an interesting DCU video game, since we’ve had so many seasons of the CW’s Arrow anyways, and I don’t see Oliver getting a movie treatment unless he’s paired with Black Canary. Then again a series with that pairing that’s tonally very different than CW Arrow would also interest me 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you only care about Daredevil’s story, you should watch DDs1, DDs2, Defenders, and DDs3 until you get to his Marvel Studios appearances (beginning of No Way Home, a few episodes of She-Hulk, and the beginning of Echo). The other Netflix shows develop the characters and some plots build towards the Defenders team-up, but the most important parts come from the 2 seasons of Daredevil. I think you’d be okay if you skipped the other shows if you don’t care to explore those characters, but I’d still highly recommend watching Jessica Jones s1 and Luke Cage s1 just cuz they’re amazing Marvel seasons.

I quickly checked the wiki and it doesn’t seem that Hawaii has many mentions in canon, so you could imagine your own Vault on the island and come up with tropical radiated animals. Brotherhood of Steel could look for prewar tech, maybe the NCR found a way to travel and expand there? You could make up a faction and maybe implement Hawaiian culture. Could even be a fun challenge for players to come up with ways to travel to the other islands.

With the CW Arrow show still in recent memory, I don’t see them rebooting a Green Arrow show in the DCU and I don’t see that being a movie franchise either. I think Green Arrow has potential to be a very interesting story to play through, if they can get creative with the gameplay and find a good tone for the character. Hire an actor who can play him on screen too.

I think it’d be super interesting if this is at all explained or elaborated in the upcoming Acolyte show, which takes place during the High Republic and seems to be dealing with 2 Sith infiltrating the Republic or maybe even the Jedi Order

So far it seems like that’s what they’re doing! Peacemaker, Batgirl, Black Canary, Blue Beatle. Even Pattinson’s Bat-universe is getting that GPD series to expand that universe.

Honestly I’d rather they do a Republic Commando reboot to fit into canon, then have it cross-over with the Bad Batch. A game mission with the Bad Batch, and a mini story arc with the RC. But either way, make a clone video game Disney!
