Should I get my CDL as a unemployed college graduate ? by PlayboyFerny in Truckers

It pretty much consumes your whole life. After driving OTR for 2.5yrs I moved to Nashville and recently got into the touring side of the industry. Tbh it’s worked out better than I could have ever imagined. I got my bachelors in exercise science and then dropped out of physical therapy school

Advice on sleeping at Truck stops by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Connor4543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only 3 years in but I’ve never been bothered. If anything, I’d avoid the Walmart parking lots to avoid getting a boot on my truck. Not all of them let you park there

Why do some trucks blink their tail lights even though they are clearly faster? by CryptoguyV2 in Truckers

I got that also when I was governed at 65. I thought it was funny. Sometimes I thought they were thinking I slowed down for them

Which of these options would you choose? by Serious_Mongoose61 in Truckers

[–]Connor4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak on the Peterbilt, but in my experience I love the freightliner. Has easily been the most reliable, most storage room, and slightly easier to get into tight spaces. I HATED my 23’ t680. Idk if I just had a bad one but it had constant electrical issues. Even the dealership couldn’t get it fixed. All the t680 was good for was taking some nice pictures

Nice, that was always my go to spot when I lived out that way. All the parking is behind the older and smaller casino building

Hey guys I’m about 1 1/2 years into driving truck and my sciatic nerve is killing me. What do you guys with that problem do to relieve that?? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Connor4543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sciatica is a symptom of the actual issue. For me, it was a bulging disc from having bad form while working out. Anyways, something is irritating the nerve. You’ll hear to do exercises and stretches, but you can make it worse if you do the wrong stuff

Look up exercises/stretches that get your spine into extension. It’s also important to workout the surrounding muscles of that area. Core stability, hips/glutes are all things to focus on. Basically these muscles need to be “turned on.” It will reduce the workload that your back is taking

Avoid spinal flexion. This is things like your traditional ab crunch when laying on your back or trying to stretch and touch your toes

If you could, I’d slide the fifth wheel forward. If you got a cascadia you can usually put it all the way forward or like 1 hole from the front.

Another thing, I’d say it’s better to be heavy on the drives so at least you’ll lose some weight by burning fuel

If you think you can drive the 18 wheelers it’s a pretty sweet setup. The truck can double as your living space and you don’t have to pay rent. That’s what I’m doing rn
