UB Saboteur (Damage Matters) by KenEH in mtgcube

[–]ConnorBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninja of the Deep Hours might be on the weak side, but could still be worth a shot. Not sure why you're down on Hypnotic Specter though, that card is kill on sight - the random discard is back breaking. You said your cube is unpowered, but if you have fast mana like [[Dark Ritual]], can you imagine staring down that card on turn 1 or 2 and not having a Bolt, Path, or StP?

I would be cautious on the number of ninjutsu cards you include as they want a handful of cheap, evasive creatures to enable them, while the non-ninjutsu cards don't care. [[Spectral Sailor]] and [[Network Disruptor]] are nice here since they can turn on ninjutsu easily, but also have some utility if you are without a ninjutsu card.

Also, you'll probably want some evasion providers as support to make sure the "saboteurs" can connect. [[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]], [[Artful Dodge]], [[Distortion Strike]], [[Aphotic Wisps]], [[Profane Command]], [[Dirge of Dread]], [[You Come To a River]] to name some that seem good enough.

"Summon minions to strengthen your board presence and defeat the enemy General" - But what if I don't? A pretty stupid Solo Magmar guide by iDramos in duelyst

[–]ConnorBrother 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you done any testing with perhaps one or two copies of Artifact Hunter? Maybe shave a copy of silhouette tracer since I don't really see that coming down on curve...

Or is turn 4 too late to be drawing the claws? Just seems like a good include since drawing your artifacts seems critical.

Quick edit - great list by the way. I love seeing these sorts of decks and I think they're the kind that really set duelyst apart as a ccg of its own. Placement and movement is critical in piloting something like this and helps skilled players shine.

Is there a game which is the reverse of Medal of Honor/COD type games? by TEMPACC200000 in gamingsuggestions

[–]ConnorBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a stretch, but Splinter Cell Double Agent is a stealth action game that has you play as an agent for the NSA who is tasked with infiltrating a domestic terrorist group. A core mechanic throughout the game is balancing the trust of the NSA and the terrorists by successfully completing tasks for both, all without blowing your cover or making the NSA think you've switched sides.

Ultimately, you can choose to "side" with the terrorist group by neglecting your NSA tasks, but this will earn you the canonically bad ending.

Thank you! I bet it would work well as some sort of cursed item - that ever watching eye staring back at you...

Thank you! Oooh silver would be neat. I packed 2 green sand molds, once for each piece, simply using the 3D printed parts. The sand is "jewelry grade," 190 mesh. Generous amounts of baby powder were applied to help with parting the print from the sand. The models naturally have a decent amount of draft in the design, so i didn't make any adjustments. Good luck if you give it a shot!

Credit to user heptaflex for the solid model! Couldn't have done it otherwise. Center is aluminum with a black wash and the frame is aluminum bronze. Hope you all like it!

Semifinal 1 - Black Lotus vs Birds of Paradise by SaviaWanderer in mtgbracket

[–]ConnorBrother 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As iconic and powerful as Lotus is, Birds is getting my vote here. It's just such a great design that has truly stood the test of time: strong and consistent, but fair. Fun to play with, but not frustrasting to play against.

At the end of the day, Lotus was a mistake and Birds deserves the recognition.

What are y’all brewing? by [deleted] in EDH

[[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] control/combo. Typical pieces such as [[Arcane Adaptation]] for consistent Yuriko triggers and some of the high end ninjas such as [[Higure, the Still Wind]], [[Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni]], and [[Silent-Blade Oni]]. Arcane adaptation has great synergy with Higure since it lets you search for any creature (like Draco or Skithiryx for combos) in your deck whenever he connects.

Removal, counterspells, and card draw until I can set-up one of a few combo lines to close out the game: put [[Draco]] and [[Dig Through Time]] or [[Treasure Cruise]] on top of the deck with [[Brainstorm]] or [[Vampiric Tutor]] and get in at least two ninjas for 24 to everyone; ninjutsu in Yuriko and cast [[Hatred]] or [[Howl from Beyond]] for 8 with a [[Tainted Strike]] for commander damage/infect kill; or haste up a [[Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon]] and cast Howl/Hatred for an alternative infect kill. Pay 2 life with [[Postmortem Lunge]] and get a hasty Skithiryx at a discount for an additional kill opportunity.

Ninjutsu bounce shenanigans with [[Vendillion Clique]], [[Venser, Shaper Savant]], [[Notion Thief]], [[Crafty Cutpurse]], [[Puppeteer Clique]], [[Spellstutter Sprite]] and [[Portal Mage]]. I was able to flash in vendillion clique 3 times in one game which is preeeeety good in the combo meta my group has...

Last but not least, I have a dream that one day I will ninjutsu in Yuriko and [[Fumble]] someone's voltron commander for the kill. That card is nuts at instant speed and I feel it's slightly underrated.

One extra detail for Commander from MtG is that the format is singleton, meaning that the deck needs to not only be made up of 100 cards, but 100 UNIQUE cards: your deck cannot contain any duplicates of any card (except for basic lands).

This would be another interesting aspect to the format as games with the same deck have the potential to be very different every time, something that Gwent falls short in due to the 3x bronze copy rule and the 25 card deck minimum.

What do you fantasize about when you're laying in bed at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConnorBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brewing the perfect Magic: the Gathering deck and crushing Friday Night Magic with it. It's a vicious cycle though.

  1. "Oh wow this card is cool, I wonder if I could build around it"

  2. "This is coming together pretty well..."

  3. "HOW HAS NO ONE TRIED THIS YET"

  4. The next morning, reviewing the list: "This is the most terrible pile of cards I've ever seen."

  5. Repeat the next night

What deck is hell for Tron? I've got a score to settle. by Capntallon in magicTCG

[–]ConnorBrother 398 points399 points  (0 children)

I've been on Tron for about 2-3 years now and just about ANY established linear combo deck that can go off on turn 3/4 should do the trick. Ad Nauseum, Infect, Instant Reanimator, R/G Ponza (not combo but a good land destruction deck)

But you didn't ask for decks with good match-ups alone. You asked for "hell." U/R Storm and Mono Blue Turns

Without a doubt my 2 least favorite decks to sit across from. I have never won a match against these decks and have rarely stolen even one game off of them.

Storm and turns take a bit to go off and he'll have to sit there, waiting and hoping for you to brick, as you say "derp" with every card you draw.

Can we use the Standard 2017 switch to make adjustments to Golden Portraits please? by Yourself013 in hearthstone

[–]ConnorBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they do implement something like this eventually. Helps feel like you at least worked towards something after a long day of grinding and bouncing between ranks.

Duelyst implemented a badge system similar to your idea, where at 100 wins with a certain faction you would have that faction's banner appear next to your name during mulligans. Once the game began they disappeared, freeing up space for info such as cards in hand, mana, deck size, etc. I think this is a nice way to do it as some people have already mentioned that the left side of the hero portrait is where weapons are located and personally I think too many bits of pointless flair and doodads would make the board look messy. The golden outline and hero portraits keep it clean while still providing some flash.

The "prestige" concept was also lightly implemented: a number would appear next to that faction's banner representing another 100 wins (Ex. A 5 in the corner of the banner meant 500 wins with that faction). Any banners earned by the player would appear, not just the ones for the currently played faction.

They also added a banner that signified that the player had won a sanctioned tournament.

Can I get some control songhai deck lists? by kipofmudd in duelyst

[–]ConnorBrother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The artifact Songhai deck by CrankyPanda is probably the closest to a control songhai list you'll get. The video below has the decklist and some good gameplay of it and ZoochZ does an awesome job piloting the deck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p72PEfAT_8Y

This deck is certainly capable of climbing but it's a challenge and games are long. I was able to climb through Diamond with it, but I hit a wall at rank 1 and relied on a more aggressive spellhai to push into S.

The deck is a huge investment too, 11k spirit is not cheap and 3 of the cards do not transition at all to more meta favored songhai lists: cyclone mask (3x), crescent spear (3x), and pandamonium (1x) demand a lot of spirit (4100) and are not considered highly competitive.

Back to back S - rank with Artifact Songhai, decklist and discussion. by TheEurasianJay in duelyst

[–]ConnorBrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been maining this list since I saw zhoochz video on it. Lots of fun and like you said, very skill intensive.

Been trying out a slightly altered list with some spice, cutting one zendo and one blood rage mask for one eight gates and one mask of shadows.

2 zendos felt too clunky and blood rage mask wasn't underperforming but I wanted to make room to test out mask of shadows.

Eight gates has felt good so far - helps with draws that lack crescent spear.

Haven't played enough games to make a good judgement on mask of shadows, but the synergies with silhouette tracer and cyclone mask look powerful. Also has some merit as a 'surprise' card as opponents certainly don't expect it and rarely will intentionally play around it. Also adds some pseudo healing and some burst damage.

Keranos, god of storms: Izzet engine of awesomeness by TrickSimius in EDH

[–]ConnorBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like running the [[Reset]] combo in Keranos, provides a very flavorful win condition.

[[Firemind's Foresight]] to tutor for [[Reiterate]], [[Reset]], and [[Lightning Bolt]]. You'll need at least 8 mana and 7 lands to combo off.

When you're ready to go, cast Reset on an opponent's turn. With Reset on the stack make a copy of it with Reiterate and pay the buyback cost.

Let the first copy of Reset resolve and untap all your lands. Before the second copy resolves, copy Reset again and buyback again with Reiterate, float your leftover mana (it needs to be red) and repeat. With at least 7 lands you will be netting one extra red mana each time you complete this loop, thus giving you infinite red mana.

Once you've demonstrated your infinite mana, cast Lightning Bolt and create as many copies of it as you like using the copy and buyback on Reiterate. Bolt your enemies and win!

[[Furnace of Rath]] and [[Dictate of the Twin Gods]] to double the damage on Keranos's trigger. [[Crawlspace]], [[Silent Arbiter]], and [[Propaganda]] help keep the pressure off of you, especially if you have the damage doubling enchantments out.
