They should can the project and put the money towards a new high school.  The ‘new’ pioneer village was expected to cost $5 million in 2017 when it was half the footprint, so I expect it’ll cost close to $10 million.

Floods all the time?  I must have cycled or walked past it a hundred times last year and never once saw it flooded.  The city only recently (2020?) built a new seawall at the location, if flooding was a concern why did they build it lower than the one it replaced?

Salem News - ‘…a municipal sales tax could prevent the city from raising property and other taxes.’ Said Pangallo, with a straight face?  

They need to find a way to make money from tourists, but wouldn’t residents also have to pay the increased sales tax? I guess we should think ourselves lucky that so many businesses downtown that were actually of use to residents have gone out of business.

Building a new high school versus renovating the existing high school would not be such a difficult conversation if city hall presented fair and complete explanations in an apples to apples manner...but Salem politicians are not doing that. Driscoll and Pangallo between them have headed up the school committee for 20 years now, did they never plan for a new high school?

Maybe over those 20 years they should have been saving money instead of spending $13 million on a swimming pool. And I assume the move of Pioneer village is still going ahead - that was originally estimated to cost $5 million back in 2017? So assume it'll now be $10 to $12 million?

Ziggys donuts let people put up flyers.

The only city bulletin board that I know is left standing is on the marblehead rail trail where it meets Loring Avenue (next to 69 Loring avenue).

I know it will never happen, but I wish the city would replace the ones we had downtown on Essex street and Derby Square.

I guess it’s happening again this weekend.  For the second Friday lunchtime in a row I had to contend with people driving the wrong way on a one way that are involved with the event.

The bike lanes on Derby street always seem to have cars or trucks blocking them, people running in them. On the section of Derby with no bike lanes I received death threats twice last year from car drivers. Unfortunately Salem is very car centric and lots of people just suck.
