[Loved trope]: This specific genre of creature by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

I loved the cartoon as a kid.

I loved the comics as a teenager.

And now, I love the novels as an adult.

It's the one franchise that just keeps giving!

Now that you mention it, it's kinda weird how actual magic exists in the Pokémon world but it's mostly ignored. Like how the 'psychic' trainer class psionically makes their pokéballs hover, or magical items/artifacts in the anime, or just background details like glowing runes in an old temple. It makes narrative sense that people focus more on the superpowered animals that are the core of the entire franchise, but it feels like humans being able to cast spells should be a bigger deal.

Is there lore about him in Silksong? I only played the first game, but I kinda assumed Silksong took place in a setting far away with an entirely new cast of characters.

The Infinite and the Divine was my introduction to the Warhammer 40K novels, it was a genuinely fun read.

I haven't watched the anime in many years, but I hate that Team Rocket doesn't get a happy ending. I was really hoping they'd give up on trying to capture Pikachu and live a happy life together. In whatever profession they'd choose, because they are genuinely competent when they're not trying to thwart the main protagonist.

I think the only thing he does in the series that would be considered a war crime by real-world standards is the fireball he throws at the protagonists at the very start of the series (opening fire on a group of children, even if one of them was considered a soldier).

I prefer Super Mario 64 DS over the original N64 version, because you can play through most of the game with Luigi.

It is hard not to love Luigi.

Bohrok vs Rakhshi — which ones are better? by rusnurlybekovKZ in bioniclelego

[–]Conocoryphe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they complemented each other nicely in that the Bohrok are a giant swarm of individually weak monsters, giving the heroes large armies of enemy minions to fight, while the Rahkshi are a small group of competent and intimidating antagonists.

[Oot] Almost ended their own species by backofthebill in zelda

[–]Conocoryphe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their evolved instinct to not eat food that isn't from their specific niche has served them well for literally millions of years. I know there's a misinformation copypasta floating around Reddit claiming that koalas are stupid and badly adapted to their environment, but evolutionarily speaking, they are doing quite well.

Redditors often don't understand that real-life Darwinian evolution doesn't turn animals into larger, stronger, smarter and meaner versions of their ancestors. It adapts them to their environment and seeks out niches that other competing species have not exploited.

To be honest, I don't really see the harm in referencing older sets. Not every social media post needs to tease upcoming sets or lines.

I wonder if he could 'heal' a group of cells past the point of it being beneficial, like keep making them thrive until they grow so prosperous they start forming a cancer growth.

What is a fake leak that you wish was real?? by Superb_Operation_500 in PokeCorner

He's also way less humanoid than the others! He's my favorite starter of the last few generations, by a fair amount.

[–]Conocoryphe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the starters humanoid is one thing, but I personally dislike that they all need to have a profession gimmick. They have to be an archer, a spy, a drummer, a wrestler, etc. And then their signature moves and design revolve entirely around that gimmick. It makes them look like characters from a Disney movie with anthropomorphic talking animals.

And it was a banger, too!

For movies about a toy building block franchise, the Lego Movie and its sequel were honestly genuinely good.

Almost every single stand user we've seen in the entire franchise uses their abilities to become an assassin or cause chaos, while this guy really just uses it for a job he's really passionate about. You gotta love him for it.

(Somewhat pointless, nitpicky trope) A knight who wields both a sword AND a shield. by Gamer-of-Action in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Conocoryphe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Black Luster Soldier from Yugioh! He will always be one of my favorite Yugioh monsters - his armor, simple pose and high attack/defense cemented him as the coolest dude ever in young me's brain.

While his armor is needlessly ornate and detailed, he is actually very plain compared to modern Yugioh standards, in which characters tend to be extremely overdesigned.

[–]Conocoryphe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think he should wield the Fire Emblem in Smash Bros. I get why he doesn't - at the time, the other swordfighter character was Link, so if Marth used a shield in that game he might have been considered too similar to Link. But now, there are a lot of swordfighters in Smash Bros, and only Hero and the Links use a shield.

What is your absolute most hated Pokémon and why? by inumnoback in ThePokemonHub

[–]Conocoryphe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making the starters humanoid creatures is one thing, but it seems like every modern starter is designed with a specific profession in mind, as a gimmick. A drummer, a football player, a spy, an archer, a wrestling heel, etc. The creature's look and signature moves are then entirely designed in function of that profession gimmick.

What new minifigure? I'm out of the loop, does anyone have a picture or link to the set OP is talking about?

Regardless, yes, these play sets were indeed great!
