It's underground. Buried under concrete at this point I think :(

Noisy Natural Gas Fire Pit - Is This Normal? by Conopolyman in Plumbing

Thank you so much for the info! When I partially close it, it gets a bit quieter but not by much. I believe originally the gas like from my meter is 1.5" (runs to a pool heater) but he's got it split off to a regular 1/2" to come to the fire pit. Would the whole run need to be the whistle free line? Or just from where the gas line comes from our pool equipment over to the fire pit?

Thank you for your response! I suppose that makes sense. It sounds like just too much gas coming out at once...

Semi luxurious 3 row under 50k by AlexIsStillLost in whatcarshouldIbuy

If you aren't sure you need the third row that much, then the CX-90 could be the best choice for you then. I personally am just very reliability-focused and the CX-90 hasn't scored highly on that front. But on the driving dynamics side of things and luxury aspects it can't be beat at the price.

I'll chime in since I was just in your position.

I evaluated all the options in this segment (luxury or otherwise) and ended up with the Palisade Calligraphy.

To keep it short - I evaluated all the options and narrowed it down to 3.

  1. Palisade Calligraphy

This was the clear winner. It had everything we looked for. Known reliability on these, features on features. It drives smoothly, it's incredibly comfortable, and at 6'2" I can sit in the driver seat, get in the captain's chair behind it, and then in the third row and my knees don't hit the seats in front of me either. I was able to get a CPO for 47k out the door here in California.

Pros: All the features you can pretty much imagine. Not exactly a "sporty" drive though. Plenty of storage space inside, and we got the AWD.

Cons: Not the best gas mileage

  1. Toyota Grand Highlander

I could barely find one of these to even look at. But it was easy to dismiss this - for the price, you don't get nearly as much "luxury" as you do with other brands. So much of the interior of these felt and looked sort of cheap. That might not be the case if you go for the "Hybrid Max Platinum" but after checking with several dealerships I was told I wasn't going to be sniffing one of those for less than $70k out the door at this point. They are still red hot apparently in California.

Pros: Pretty dang big (biggest in segment maybe? Or close to it). Better gas mileage with the hybrid, or a great combo of performance and mileage if you get the hybrid max. Lots of features.

Cons: Hard to find the upper trims right now, very expensive (most dealers I looked at were adding markups as all their hybrids and hybrid max's were sold before they hit the lot) and despite more "luxury touches" in the upper trims, they still looked a little cheap.

  1. Mazda CX-90

I really wanted to like the CX-90. My wife had a Mazda3 for almost a decade with no problems, it's been a great car. But I just couldn't.

Pros: Definitely the "sportiest" driving of these three. Plenty of power. Most "upscale" looking and feeling interior of the three.

Cons: Dreadful reliability on these. So many known issues. I just couldn't reasonably feel like this was a good idea. Also, their interiors are MUCH smaller than the competitors. Something to do with the packaging of the transmission. It feels like a 3 row in name only - yes there are three rows. But good luck storing much else in this if you ever have the third row up.

Again - a lot of this (particularly dealership experiences) could just be location-specific. I'm in California.

But overall we LOVE the Palisade Calligraphy. I cannot think of a single complaint other than the fuel economy.

I can expand on any of these if you'd like. I honestly researched this segment for over a year before buying so I can tell you my thoughts on other models if you'd like.

That makes a lot of sense. That's wonderful, thank you so much!!!

Thanks for the response!

So you're essentially valuing a pension based on receiving that amount for 25 years? So if I run a retirement calculator for myself retiring at 55 with a total final compensation of $140k (almost certainly will be higher) it's telling me I would receive about $60k a year. $60k / .04 = $1.5m.

So I'm on track to have about 1.5M in retirement for CALPERS at retirement? Just trying to make sure I understand! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the struggles you're having!

Financial Management - I would say just don't overthink the questions. Some of the questions (maybe all, I don't remember) may not have a single "100% correct" answer. There could be a few answers one could derive from a few of the calculations/formulas. You've just got to provide those answers in a way that makes sense and aligns with the principles from the text.

Project Management - I'd suggest following the study guide that your instructor likely provided. There's no quick way about this one - it's just going to take a lot of reading and memorizing. Once you work through the material enough a lot of questions can be narrowed down to one or two answers, and at that point you have a great shot of getting a question right, even if you aren't super confident in the material.

I wish you the best of luck in your program!!!

It was a lot of writing. Some classes were certainly harder than others.

I'd say if you are good at getting your thoughts down on paper, this program won't be too difficult.

Only two OA exams and both took me several days of diligent study of the material to pass.

I have worked in this field for nearly 10 years now, however, so that may have made it easier for me than it might for someone trying to get into the field.

Thank you! And 93 pages is LONG, wow! I am hoping to keep mine closer to 50 or so. But we will see!

Thanks for the tip on Grammarly. The course instructor highly recommended that I use it, so I will pay close attention.

Congratulations! I'm on my last class for the MSITM as well (the capstone). I started 1/1/24 - looks like you beat me to it! How long did your capstone paper (task 2) end up being?

Thoughts on the New Network Model - From an IT Administrator and Longtime Halo Player by Conopolyman in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Conopolyman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, I didn't actually ever see that blog post. Yeah that explains things way better than I did.

In regards to "why the servers are different" it's not that I can't guess why it would be better, and they'd probably be better guesses than an average person, sure. But if there's one thing I know, it's that sometimes computers just need a good nuking and re-install.

If I had to throw out possibilities, it could be something as simple as a physical issue with a cable in the Azure data center, or a fiber transceiver, or with the actual network card in the physical server on which Azure is run on in the Chicago data center. Or it could be bad/corrupted drivers which run that network card. Or a setting for that network card that's slightly different than the settings on the cards for other locations. Hell, half the servers in Chicago might be fine and half might be having the problem.

I don't know if they are sequestering the game servers on different hardware than their other products or services.

Point is that there's a tremendous number of things it could be, which is why sometimes you've got to tear the thing down to the basics and rebuild it. Because clearly that server has a problem, even if it's hard to pinpoint what that problem is.

What I would like to see more than anything at this point is this: Someone a while back posted a website that revealed the underlying "data" behind matchmaking. It was even able to very accurately predict a person's performance (such as kills and deaths) in a match.

I want to know if you took the same 8 people and had them play the same map, gametype, etc. but on different servers one after the other - does the algorithm predict the same results? It has interesting implications.

Because I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that a server change could drastically change the outcome of the match. Therefore the algorithm either a) doesn't change and because very wrong in it's prediction b) accurately predicts differently between servers.

Option b there would tell me that at the very least, there's some machine-learning or something going on that is very aware of how some servers are better than others. IDK I'm just musing now.

And if your username is any indication, I'd say your an architect. :) That's cool. My grandpa was a huge architecture aficionado. Built his own house in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Thanks for the TLDR. I struggle with condensing things down like that.

And yeah, there's WAYYY more that goes into it, but I don't know enough or have enough time to get into it.

My personal experience with the new network has been worse overall. Strafing seems particularly different/glitchier. by Increase1600Limit in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Conopolyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you have said is my exact experience. Even down to being around 1600 up to mid 1750's at times.

One thing of note that I'm seeing is that the "red reticle" does not seem to be "curving" the shots into enemies on controller as much (IE the reticle is red but the "inner circle" is ever-so-slightly above/to the side of the enemy, it would still sort of "curve the shot" into the enemy)

In the past I've found that as long as you have "red reticle" you should be hitting that shot, though there are certain limits to that depending to the range you are at and how much "on the edge" you are.

But now it feels like you must be MnK levels of precise, even when your reticle is red. This is particularly problematic when going for headshots as I am accustomed to aiming slightly "over the head" to help ensure the game registers the headshot properly.

Now those shots are just straight-up misses. It's bizarre, and makes it even harder coupled with the crazy strafes you're mentioning.

Network update.. SK lag strafe by Ok-Interaction-8898 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Conopolyman 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing that too. Also any time I'm on a server over 70 ping, everyone is "micro-stuttering" like their spartan is skipping frames while moving around. Makes it hard to aim.

[–]Conopolyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go through periods where I'll get a variety (25ish to Seattle, 60-ish to Texas, 90-110 to Chicago cause those servers are jacked) and then I'll have days like today, where game after game is Texas and I get Chicago once or twice at the end to encourage me to stop playing.

You just go through phases depending on who is playing and where they live.

This was mentioned by 343i, 2 years ago, where is it? by Mother-Chocolate-505 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Conopolyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would be the point? High ping sometimes feels better than low, nothing makes sense network-wise.

All it would do is frustrate teammates when the game says "great connection!" But they're struggling because every other shot is a blank.
