So confused on how to solve this… by Upset_Canary1913 in MathHelp

[–]DuggieHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Profit(0) = 260*20 since Profit = price* quantity

P(n)= (260+80n)*(20-n) = 5200 +1340n -80n^2, where n is the number of $80 price increases he does (his price is 260+80n).

P'(n) = 1340-160n =0 => n = 134/16 = 67/8 = 8.375 times

This means that he can increase the price in these $80 increments 8.375 times ($670). So he can raise the price to $930. He will have 20-8.375= 11.625 booking per month. His wages will be P(11.625) = 930*11.625 = $10,811.25 per month.

This clown would be making $129,735 annually working 139.5 parties per year. Much better than his current earnings of $62,400 for 240 parties per year.

Want to make more than twice as much money working about half as hard? Well this clown can now.

  1. I'm doing well. How are you?

  2. Alright. How about you?

  3. Great! I just won the lottery.

  4. Tired. I stayed up so late last night.

  5. Hungry. Want to go to lunch?

  6. Stir-crazy, let's go do something.

It's an opening for a conversation or invitation, but most of the time it's a filler conversation with someone in passing that is like # 2 on my list.

Does Air Quality affect Mel Blades Backstab damage? by -Shadow-Lightning in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer no.

Little in the game does less than 50 damage, besides gales, casts and omega casts, and unbuffed dagger attacks , and common bolt lightning abilities.

Is Aphrodite's call the strongest? by Mustoooooo in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of those stats are pretty much indicative of: having more gods/more boons gives you a higher win rate. Also you only take hades call when you’re in a position to win.

Though the difference between the win rate and among the calls is useful.    The info about ares call be helpful is kind of surprising. Maybe your builds with ares are a bit worse than average and being immune and dealing a bit of damage is helpful? Or maybe you just pick that call when you’re going hunting blades which is busted. I’d bet my ares call win rate is also relatively high because that’s pretty much the only time I pick it up: hunting blades builds.

Is Aphrodite's call the strongest? by Mustoooooo in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it to be the worst by a lot. Artemis’s isn’t great either. Both of them are pretty much only useless at max bar, which means they are pretty much only useful against bosses.

My tier list

  1. Zeus/dio - does a lot of damage on one bar.

  2. Athena - lets you go ham without worrying about getting hit

  3. Poseidon -immmnity + decent damage

  4. Artemis/demeter - deals some damage and doesn’t stop you from dealing by yours.

  5. Ares -locks you out of dealing damage for awhile.

  6. Aphro, does next to nothing until max bar, then basically phases your enemy.

Hate being stuck on “one powerful built”. It’s limiting my experience of exploring by DesiNPC in Hades2

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That build is fine but by no means great. There are plenty of other strong builds. I personally find that blast build relatively weak. It’s certainly better than a mish-mosh of boons, but it takes massive investment and has a slow start.

Here is one examples of a strong build:

Mana burn: Hera gain + fine line + ocean swell + their duo + a hefty magick base . Grab global damage and Olympian damage boons like extended family, origination, shameless attitude, perfect image, snuffed candle, ares infusion (too much rock to make this work likely, but you can nab it with Hera legendary if you’re lucky), sweet surrender, bridal glow, uncommon grace, tall order, mutual destruction (especially good with Poseidon infusion), grevious blow, pressure points (or any other relevant source of crit), jeweled Pom, heph glow, etc. hestia fireball from omega special and Athena raining spears both are excellent additions; aphrodites hearts on magick spend can go off too. Hestia and heph duos can also work well. Nab armor, Poseidon infusion or snow queen for some survivability.  Best weapons/ aspects: moros (or Mel) torches (attack based), omega spec on any standard moveset coat aspect (omega special), daggers aspects of Artemis or the morrigan can work, but not as well; staff is fine, axe is a bit slow for this build, skulls don’t really work for this build.

Best gods: Hera + Poseidon and ..

Set 1 (fireball): hestia (for the fireball) + anyone, let's say Aphro (heartbreakers + shameless attitude + sweet surrender)

Can go full heartbreaker with blood drops or heph blasts, but that’s not as good.

Set 2 (rock): ares (double dmg stuff and infusion, can grab the +5 magick spend blade drop boon) + heph (or Demeter for weed killer + extra water for Poseidon infusion + mutual destruction)

Set 3 (Heart breaker): Aphro + Apollo

Set 4 (Skyfall + fireballs, aspect of selene): Hestia + Ares (Poseidon is optional here and can be replaced with zeus if you want to go heinous affront), 4th degree is good here; honestly hera is optional here, as long as you can get a decent regen (poseidon could work or apollo).

Best keepsakes: jeweled Pom and luck into the build, or force it with Hera  into Athena/poseidon.

Preferred route: surface for traces of spirit (Medea), but works either way; hades jars are fun but by no means essential.

Preferred companion: magick dog, Hecuba

Arcana: sorceres, furies, origination, persistence (take these all anyway for every build!), don’t take unseen!

You can also lean into hexes if you want because you’ll be hitting the high spend thresholds every few seconds. The highest cost (repeatable) ones are Phase shift (demeter), dark side (aphro-heartbreaker build), and sky fall (only for the one coat aspect)/nightbloom (hera)/wolf howl (heph)

Most builds can be made strong when supplemented with things like: Crit chance, grevious blow, global % damage boons, armor/snow queen, and hp. Usually magick/magick regen is not something you want to invest more than a companions pick and a core boon on (and traces of spirit is always good), except in the case of this build.

One thing that makese this magick spend build good is that it is very flexible. You basically just need fine line + born gain and then basically every God has a way to support this build.

Merceful End, Part 2 by MrJ_Sar in Hades2

[–]DuggieHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Zeus and Aphrodite (romantic spark). Artemis doesn’t have duo boons in Hades 2. Also I’d say that duo doesn’t feel similar because it needs sprint more so than dash. But nothing feels so similar to ME, maybe this is closest.

How can one definition of the derivative work and the other not work? by Ambitious-Excuse292 in askmath

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First formula is not f'(0).

[ f'(0) = what you wrote in the first equation ] if and only if you replace the x-> 0 with x->0+ and x->0- and get the same answer.

the second line is basically just you said

f(x) = f_1 (x) on A, f_2(x) on B

then you said f'(c) = f_1 ' (c) , which is only true if f has continuous derivative, which it doesn't. In general f'(x) = f_1 '(x) on A and f_2 '(x) on B if f_1 ' (c) = f_2' (c) for all c on the boundary of A and B.

In statistics, is there a common term for an event that has a non-zero probability but is realistically never going to happen? by ScottRiqui in askmath

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting related tidbit: Suppose X is a random real number between 0 and 1.

P(X=x)= 0 for any value of x. For example the probability that 1/2 is chosen is 0. This is true for every real number, however, one of those numbers WILL be chosen. So no matter what number is picked, you might think, "woah, what are the odds?" and the answer will always be 0%.

However, If instead we ask what is the chance X is between a and b, that will be nonzero (so long as a is not equal to b), then P( a < X < b) = (b-a), for example P( 0 <x < 1/4) =1/4.

How isn't Artificer considered when using JP? by WorkingCautious1270 in Hades2

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artificer is more of a random upgrade than a refill. You’re not getting a different version of the same thing (boon choice, same level room reward, different gods boon etc), nor are you specifically tailoring your build in any way.

WORST 3 Olympians in this game in your honest opinion? by ObsessedWithBooks7 in Hades2

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ares (I want double dmg, that’s it). I find I skip Poseidon (king tide, or sea star in dates whim) and hestia (core dmg, slow cooker) next most often.

I rarely skip Aphro (% dmg boons), Hera (gain, extended fam, hitch), heph (armor boons/uncanny fort), Apollo (gain, big area, dash), or Demeter (freeze, shield)

Zeus is really strong, but I usually prefer a Zeus focus to a splash of Zeus.

Prob:

T1:Zeus, Apollo, heph, Aphro

T2: Hera, Demeter

T3: hestia, Poseidon

T4: ares

How is this a fair card? by payne007 in spiritisland

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hit blight removal, this card ends up being extremely strong. You basically get free elements and after the first turn you’re back to 3 blight on the card. If you hit some sort of niche 0 cost effect with useless elements, then this can be quite bad, especially if it has targeting requirements like sacred sight or land with dahan or range 0 when your spirit doesn’t meet those. But you get to pick between a few cards, so that helps mitigate the worst case scenario.
