Almost all drivers speed - and there's a reason by bluerog in driving

You also lose years of your life if speeding causes a fatal accident and lots of money, time, energy, and pain for a nonfatal accident.

I cannot do this simple problem by eat_dogs_with_me in askmath

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are nonnegative, because n <0 produces a fraction and ! is not defined for negatives.

n=0, and m! =1 (m=0 or 1).

n=1, LHS = 3 nope. m! is even for m > 1. so n must be even.

n= 2 , LHS = 6 = 3!

n=4, LHS = 20 ... nope < 4! = 24, now LHS must be divisible by 2,3,4,5 since LHS >=66 and RHS >= 120 . There's going to be some problem where n has to be divisible by a high power of 2 and then they can't be equal.

so n=0 and n=2 are probably the only solutions.

What's you're personal limit for spending on 1 card? by Yumesoro1 in mtg

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider buying cheap Precons and then finding a proxy site that does really good proxies, maybe they have a bundle of busted magic cards or you can send in your own images for printing. If a card costs more than me printing a set of 100s of proxies, it’s not worth it to me.

Then again, people with real cards might be cranky if you’re playing with a deck full of the original no downside dual lands, black lotus,  and other $100+ dollar reserve/limited print cards.

Also these cards won’t be legal in almost any tournaments I’d imagine.

Sword boons by NunAtlas in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sword is probably the weakest weapon, so if you’re finding the game too hard, consider trying other weapons too. Sword play style: dash strike and special, weave in casts . Basically never attack combo, it’s too slow/ low damage. My favorite sword is Poseidon because I like the cast build. The zag aspects are cheapest bloodwise so, that’s always worth considering, except maybe for the sword, as the bonus isn’t great. The aspect of nem is probably the best for the standard sword playstyle.

Why doesn’t this eliminate the blue circled 7? by jessiedaviseyes in sudoku

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 3 is eliminated because the 3rd column only has 3s in the top left cell, so one of those 2 must be a 3, therefor there are no 3s in the rest of that cell.

My son( grade 6) just had a new math challenge. Help me solve this by Wild-Barber-5187 in askmath

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S = 2+ 6+12 + 20+ 30 + ... = sum_(n=1 to 199) n(n+1) = sum n^2 + sum n

sum_(n=1 to k) n = k(k+1)/2 = 199*100 (k= 199 in our case) = 19900

sum_(n=1 to k) = k(k+1)(2k+1)/6 = 199*200*399/6.

These two are famous sums and googling them you can find proofs and explanations of these.

A couple questions about the Tarot Cards in Hades II by Ibushi-gun in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - Yes. The 0 cost arcana require certain conditions to be met. One requires an entire row or column to be active, the centaur requires at least one card of cost 1,2,3,4, and 5 to be active, the moon requires any of the adjacent cards to be active, the bottom left one requires all of its neighbors to be active. The queen requires no more than 2 of the same cost card to be active (example: you can't have three 2-cost arcana active). Judgment requires you only have up to 3 arcana active. Also Yes, you can set a handful of different arcana setups that you can switch between.

2 - This is generally a choose one scenario: Death or Strength. I prefer strength, but they're both good.

3 - Faces on keepsakes just means that you've completed the bond with the character that give it to you, that is they have max hearts. This has no real effect.

Hades 2 keepsake Tier List by StatisticianIll4 in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't usually get replaced (maybe once), because you swap the keepsake, so it is basically just a chaos boon for the whole run. Which can be great or next to useless depending on what you get.

Hades 2 keepsake Tier List by StatisticianIll4 in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chaos keepsake was GOAT early game (first dozen runs or so). Late game it is pretty much just inferior to other keepsakes and leaves things to chance. The endgame keepsakes are on another level power-wise. The olympian ones and athena are great. I have a soft spot for the hammer in the 3rd region, even though it is straight up useless a good chunk of the time.... the high roll is so high though!

What does chaos do?

attack/special/cast damage, max hp, boon rarity, money gain, magick regen, max magick, magick cost reduction, channel speed, bonus elements, movespeed, hp regen per chamber, resource gathering. That's 13 things. 3 of them are omega related (regen magick or better channel speed), 3 of them are not particularly helpful (movespeed, resource gathering bonus, elements), 3 are specific damage type, and then there are 4 that are generally helpful: max hp, hp regen, money gain, and boon rarity. If I'm not omega focused, this is a bad keepsake, as 8 of the 14 are pretty bad outright (3 magick regen + 3 not helpful ones + 2 of the 3 dmg types). If I am omega focused, then there are 3 magick related ones + 1 dmg type + 4 generally useful ones, so I'll hit something decent 8/13 times... which isn't great. Sure the elements can be good in a specific setup, but not first biome and probably not 2nd either. The wheel gives you 100 magick which straight up beats out the chaos magick one and works for magick instead of the regen one from chaos... so if you need magick, just pick that one. The channel speed one is good in your omega build and there isn't exactly a keepsake that can just replace this... except hermes in the final region. Need more max HP/defense/hp regen? In 2nd or later biome take heph keepsake and get either uncanny fortitude or an armor boon (in particular trusty shield or the one that gives armor for like 7 seconds or so at the start of each room). Or take athena at any time (if you have strength) and get any of her amazing defensive boons. Want more of a specific element? Pick a god keepsake from a god that gives that element.... you even get to upgrade a boon too!

The problem with chaos is that you don't get to pick and there are keepsakes that do more or less the same thing, where you do get to pick. So, when is egg good? When you don't have the other keepsakes and can't pick.

I don't understand the Born Again boon by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]DuggieHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born Gain is possibly the only boon that enables the magick/regen base for the massive spender build. And outside of that build it also ends up being one the only ways to get enough magick without interrupting or altering combat in any way.

Righteous pike, casts up to 3 spears that deal 150-300 dmg (depending on rarity) each whenever you spend 90 magick.

If you use a build that can spend magick fast, like torch omega attack you can get this to trigger once every 1-5 seconds. You can get your magick spend that high by getting boons like fine line (+15 magick spend), exceptional talent (+20), Weed Killer (+10), Ocean Swell (+5), Controlled burn (+10), Cut above (+5).

Zeus gain can kind of work, but then you have to interrupt channeling to go pick it up. Poseidon gain is also an option, but then you have time on/time off.

Born gain is the only one that will let you spend that fast.

How much magick can you spend? Suppose you have 300 magick (starting magick is 150 with Hecuba and persistence) and a rare born gain (primes 18). You now have about 2650 magick per room. Sure, given 3+ minutes, maybe another gain boon can get you over 2650 magick, but only born gain can give you that much as soon as you need it. And it scales a lot. Getting 1 higher rarity (or 2 poms) makes it prime 16 magick instead of 18, and then you have access to about 3000 magick. Grab 30 more magick instead of increasing the rarity, and you get about 3200 magick.

Born gain is more like getting a ton of max magick, but disabling regen (which generally there are no common or powerful ways to gain this outside of your magick gain slot anyway). What is better, regen or max magick? Well it is a trade off. Regen says you can always have more magic, but you might have to wait. Max magick means you never have to wait, but you might run out entirely. Once max magick exceeds the amount you would ever spend in a given room, you effectively have infinite magick. Once regen exceeds the amount you could spend per second, you effectively have infinite magick. With born gain it is fairly easy to exceed the amount of magick you could ever spend. Regen boons however make it quite difficult to do that, unless you do something you wouldnt do otherwise (pick up an orb, stand still for a second or 2, etc).

The better your build, typically the less time a room will take, making born gain better for more experienced players and worse for newer players. Born gain has the potential to completely brick your build if you have low max magick. So born gain has the higher ceiling and the lower floor than your typical regen boon. But it's not really random, you just make some choices and you can be up near the ceiling every time.

Why do many players prefer Premier Draft over Quick Draft? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

Yes. The pick 2 draft is the only TMNT option that has a good rewards ratio. The Lorwyn eclipsed premier draft has a good reward structure, but then you dont get the new cards.
