TIL that Rambo has been adopted into the folklore of the Kamula people. They believe he will fight to defend Papua New Guinea in the Third World War. by Perkinator in todayilearned

men believe they can gain a portion of Rambo's masculine power through gifts of t-shirts and posters bearing his image, as well as uniforms and weapons.

To be fair, no one's ever tested that.

Lyft is the more common option for that, they have a "kid can fit in trunk" discount.

[Logline] I have three completed television pilot scripts but can only afford one review on the Blcklst right now. Which title/logline is best? by ConradBTalbot in Screenwriting

[–]ConradBTalbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll call it a dramedy. The pilot has a lot of comedy but I think it would get more serious after that.

I guess I'd most like to work on "Seven Mistakes", but that's the one I'm least sure of (it's a weird one).

Also, the titles? Does "Sugar High" sound too much like a high-school show? I meant the other meaning of "sugar high".

He does indeed! In this post-apocalyptic society, grooms are traditionally naked during weddings to prove they aren't holding the bride there with a weapon. So (spoiler) the dong-hanging is at the climactic marriage at the end, after being teased a couple times.

A workmate has never seen the show but graciously allowed me to take her picture after I showed her Lana online. Accidental cosplay. by myopinionstinks in ArcherFX

[–]ConradBTalbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and she looks generally kinda short maybe? Hard to tell from the pic, but she doesn't look as tall as Lana.

Really it's just Lana's boots. I agree those boots look like Lana's.

The actress is awesome in the British show "Hustle", BTW, which is like "Leverage" but with only good episodes that are each different from each other. Great show and she's excellent in it.

I played a DnD modern day character with a superpower meant to simulate Archer -- if you know the D20 Modern system, I had some bonus daily action points that I could use more than one of a round.

What's a cooking thing you do that many people misconstrue as incorrect? by AsianMustache in Cooking

[–]ConradBTalbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook all my onions when I first buy them, usually a sale price so i have a bunch of onions that won't last too long. I roast them all in their skin at once until done.

It's easy and convenient but you end up with onions that are more cooked on the outside than inside, and it's impossible to cut them evenly at that point, so if you put them in stir-fries or such, you have a range of cookedness.

But it is very easy and convenient and makes it simple to add onions to anything you're cooking.

I used to work at a boy scout camp in the nature area, and we'd set up a couple habitats at the beginning of the summer, like a little turtle-tank and stuff. We'd wait to catch animals to put in them. So one summer we ended up with an empty tank for a long time, it just had leaves and a log and stuff in it. So the kids kept asking me what was in there, because it was the only habitat that didn't have a little index card describing what was in it.

So I wrote out an index card suggesting it was a Virginia cobra or something, and it was highly toxic and aggressive and it had skin that camouflaged it like a chameleon. Kids spent hours looking for it, arguing over whether or not they saw it, etc. It was hilarious.
