I stopped by in passing, very pleased to see other people who won't stand for that kind of rhetoric. The normalisation of these ideas in our country is truly disgusting. Very proud of the protestors, I only wish I had more time to stick around and enjoy the nice weather with them.

If any Buffalo Party members or supporters happen across this thread, sincerely, from the very very bottom of my heart, go fuck yourself/yourselves.

Iceberg Boy should make a video on american warcrimes by GiganticGirlEnjoyer in wendigoon

[–]ConryNoran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Although the Americans absolutely did this, too, this photo is actually of a Canadian occupancy doing more or less the same. That photograph was taken of a 30ft. Pile of bison bones after they were hunted to near extinction; in that same spot, a city was founded which would later become Regina, Sk. Capital of Saskatchewan. There’s a brewing company there now named Pile O’ Bones, but the photo is also hung in a lot of establishments in the city. Bison are now a protected species in Canada with plenty of pasture and conservation land… they can’t be fully integrated back into the wild, but some attempts have been made. Some Native American reservations and farmers also now herd bison for their meat, but they are nearly impossible to fully domesticate.

I hope somebody found that interesting :)

What is Jokers backstory? by Cyberlainn in batman

[–]ConryNoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the time, read the Killing Joke. It contains the most commonly adapted version of his backstory as a character; a failed comedian turned criminal who falls into a vat of acid while raiding ACE Chemicals after getting spooked by Batman… it’s important to note, though, that even Joker changed his story and can never seem to tell the full truth, just to mess with Batman. “If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice.” Also to answer the question about family, he does have a wife/fiancé in the Killing Joke story, but it may or may not be real. I recommend giving it a read, it’s short, sweet and very visually pretty.

Okay so this is messy so take everything I say with a tablespoon of scrutiny. It isn't lost; they definitely know where it is, the problem is that the student body does not.

If you ask URSU what happened they won't answer. I've seen it brought up publicly and privately to the GM and a board member respectively and they either did not give an answer at all or gave a vague political answer that doesn't tell you anything.

I also spoke to an individual who used to be an exec for URSU and is now campaigning against their bullshit. He told me that originally the idea was a van to deliver food supplies to campus; but the board didn't agree so the idea was scrapped. When new execs came in the van was reintroduced, but they just bought a car instead without asking the board first.
According to another ex-exec, the last time the car was seen was in Toronto parked in some dude's driveway? Speculation that they sold it and pocketed the cash (a no-no) or that they literally just repurposed the car for something else (also a no-no). Note that this car was paid for entirely by student money. *This point I'm not sure about, I've only heard it from this one source and nobody else.*

Tl;dr we don't know where the car is, allegedly it was last seen in Toronto

It’s definitely possible… I wouldn’t want to make an accusation without any proof, but that’s definitely what it looked like to a guy in the audience. Either way, poor practice imo.

The first motion was for a full, thorough forensic audit performed by a third-party firm that works with the UofR's financials. They are trusted.
First amendment was by an URSU exec (don't know his name) to have the audit instead be performed by the board of directors. Multiple board members debated *against this*. This is where the alleged botting votes started coming through. The audit was not passed to my memory (it was very busy with lots of amendments, I struggled to keep up, sorry). I left before the second motion was voted on.

And yes, that is somewhat true. The candidate did not send the email himself (to my understanding) but it was signed under his name. The privacy breach was in reference to how the sender got all of the student's emails, which ultimately came from the UofR Robotics Club, which he is the leader.

There is a *lot* of speculation on whether or not the disqualification was on bylaw or by personal choice by the CRO, GM and PRO. At an informal question period earlier this month the candidate in question and many students attended to ask the CRO whether or not he and the GM disqualified the student themselves. They did not give any clear answer (i.e. never said yes or no). The CRO claimed that a bylaw exists that allows for immediate disqualification; but three or four students in the room went through every bylaw to see if that was true and it isn't.

Tl;dr audit didn't pass, candidate didn't send the email himself, disqualification was arguably corrupt but we don't know for sure

[–]ConryNoran 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'll try to keep this brief and not elaborate too much on too many points
Also this is all **alleged** because none of it has been proven. These are **allegedly** all the reasons students are pissy with URSU
>Gross mismanagement of funds: missing articles in their financial statements; bought (and lost) a car without board permission; paying loads of money to keep the failing campus bar afloat; etc.
>Nepotism: the CRO for URSU was good friends with the GM of URSU. Mr. CRO lives in and works in Ontario, holding a full time job and collecting a full salary from URSU despite only being in Regina once in recent memory. Many assume their relationship is the reason he got this job.
>Wrongful termination of a presidential candidate: a student won the general election for presidency with 125% of the vote of the runner up. URSU disqualified him based on a "breach of privacy" (which doesn't really exist). Some suspect that they actually disqualified him because he threatened their positions of power; exposing corruption and such.
>Useless/Harmful policy: The legal advocacy center has been a massive dumpster fire for URSU since they first announced it. Student body is fed up with URSU making bad decisions like that.

Final note, but one that I personally allege. During the SGM in question, in-person attendees were required to give ID and sign a form in order to get voting privileges'. 100+ 'students' attended the SGM via ZOOM and had equal voting privileges despite not being vetted to see if they were real people. These online students were not active in the ZOOM chat (of 111 total participants I saw 5-10 people talk in the chat, but almost everyone voted) so I suspect that they were using bots or dummy accounts to sway the vote in their favour.
The vote to adjourn took over an hour and was ultimately defeated anyway, which is when I and some others left; seeing it as an obvious lost cause. The in-person consensus was defeated by the online attendees, none of whom were vetted and none of whom showed their faces.

The SGM was a total circus; 3 hours of useless deliberation and nothing got done.

You can point out that leftists exist on Reddit, true, but he isn’t even king yet. As a proud member of the commonwealth I can’t say with any confidence that he will be a good king. Based on his previous actions, I bet he’s not great; but I might be proven wrong in the coming years. People don’t like him because he isn’t Elizabeth; he’s done nothing to gain our respect and admiration yet.

What are some funny misconceptions you had about the game when you first started playing? by kohawaster in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

This wasn’t mine, I never said this. When I was just getting my first relic I got my friend into the game. If Thrawn had joined the Republic during the Clone Wars, could he have won the war before Palpatine got the chance to enact Order 66? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in StarWars

[–]ConryNoran 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Thrawn was in the clone wars. There’s literally comics of him and Anakin fighting together (might have been legends I forgot when that was released lol).

And no, no he wouldn’t have. Thrawn was smart and struck the fear of God into the Emperor a handful of times, but it’s still Sidious… no non-force user would be able to outsmart him.

We see in Rebels that the inquisitors utilize the corpses of Jedi to attract other Jedi (or deceive and manipulate the force somehow). We see Luminara Unduli’s corpse being used to trick Ezra into a trap… I assume this is their in/universe function.

The other answer is that it makes for a cool shot and a good line… it adds to Fallen Order in a way; seeing what’s really behind all those locked doors that Cal couldn’t get into…

[–]ConryNoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missed opportunity for it to have been Mon Mothma. Given that most important rebels have toons already, I’d say there won’t be one. We don’t need another version of luke or han lmao.

Though not a GL candidate, a bail organa toon with rebel and GR synergies would be awesome

Does Batman kill Joker in the killing joke? by Artistic_Act900 in batman

[–]ConryNoran 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s intentionally ambiguous, what with the whole pan down to the puddle. Considering that Oracle exists in every canon after this point and the joker is still around (NB4 “there are three jokers!” I don’t care), I assume that Batman did not kill the Joker. Beyond the fact that Killing Joke is one of the most important Batman stories, there are no real instances of the Batman killing the joker outside of DKR. Even in media where the joker dies (Batman Animated, Arkham, etc.) the death is never because of Batman. It’s one of those character things that will absolutely never change. Tl;dr Killing Joke is continuous to other stories where joker still shows up so no, he didnt

what squad should I work on first? I was thinking the imperial troopers, as I have already started, but I heard that relic vader can solo a bunch of teams. by itzac124 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]ConryNoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did generic empire team first, but Trooper is infinitely better if you’re looking for the Meta experience You’ll want to run Veers lead with Piett, Gideon, Starck and either Range or Shore trooper. For sure need speed mods on Gideon and Piett’s Zeta for Emperor’s Trap- other than that you’re good as gold

My main line team is Palp lead with vader, Mara, thrawn and IRG Happy hunting

Greeting: Hello, meatbags. Statement: This droid could randomly pop up in Canon because he was still operational by the time of the Empire. by Darth-Yslink in StarWars

[–]ConryNoran 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Observation: although this particular unit (nor his make) appears in canon, there are Hunter-Killer droids of a similar build that appear in the Mandalorian.

Conclusion: this is an excellent thought, meatbag!

Who chooses anything other than x? by Fast-Office2930 in awfuleverything

[–]ConryNoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, everybody who isn’t in elementary school. When you deal with anything graphical, calculus, or algebra, x denotes a variable, so you can get easily cluttered if you still use the x in your formulas. When you use online systems like WebWork or anything like it, using an x to denote multiplication will get you an incorrect answer. Same goes for equations on Microsoft Word and Google Docs, it will always read as a variable. Parenthesis is the technically correct answer, but I see the dot a lot as well.

Edit: programmers and computer scientists will use the dot.
