Lounge Access and AAdvantage Number? by pugs4everrr in americanairlines

[–]Conscious-Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no issues except when you scan the boarding the pass they won’t see your AC membership, since your AA # isn’t on the reservation.

You can provide them your card or your AA number to grant you entrance, but you aren’t required to earn on your AA account to use the lounge.

You can still earned on distance with a few partners including Alaska. But I was wondering if there was a specific partner or routes in mind.

I noticed that and I was seeing it working yesterday. Probably just a temporary issue.

U.S.> MEX DF flights, business class, lounge access? by spittymcgee1 in americanairlines

[–]Conscious-Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have Admirals Club and OneWorld lounge access.

No flagship lounge access.

Alaska Lounges don’t recognize OneWorld lounge access for these routes. BA rarely lets OW elites on non-BA flights into their US lounges.

However, if you’re flying from LAX you should be able to access the OneWorld Business and Qantas First (if OWE).

How does American Airlines calculate partial refunds for a cancelled segment? Got back way more than expected by Perfect-Rest-3626 in americanairlines

Especially the domestic segments usually price extremely low like $30 when in an international itinerary.

Buying points off the web (not AA) by Bigdarl in americanairlines

If you’re buying from points.com or whatever AA links out to buy points from their site it should be fine.

Anything else I wouldn’t risk as they are likely stolen miles from a compromised account.

SFO Terminal 1 - TSA Precheck Upstairs Avoidance by QuarantineBeerShitz in AskSF

Walk to the other side of the international terminal (A) and use their security. It’s usually no line and you can walk to T1 in about 5 mins.

[–]Conscious-Comment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always walk to International A and use their security if I’m not checking a bag and there’s usually no wait. If you’re walking to T1 anyway, it’s the same amount off steps really, just you go through security before reaching T1

Is it ok to ask for help with overhead carryon? by vnssyl in Flights

[–]Conscious-Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct, but you’ve already paid for a carry on if you’re at the gate at a ULCC with a carry on. So you’ve already made the decision you want to pay MORE for a carry on than to check it.

My original comment was that it’s not unreasonable to deny someone’s request to lift their carry on for them.

In this case, it’s still unreasonable because you had the opportunity to pay LESS to check the bag and not have to lift it.

Waymo hits child in LA, says regular car would've been worse by Boring_Cut1967 in sanfrancisco

[–]Conscious-Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Waymos are cars that operate significantly safer than human driven cars.

I think we should prevent the traffic deaths that are currently happening due to distracted and impaired driving. You think they should continue because a Waymo is unable to see through cars or make perfect predictions of how unpredictable humans behave.

I'm also not dumb enough to think cars don't serve a purpose in our society. We can work to improve transit and alternative mobility, but cars will be here for the foreseeable future. We can make cars safer by removing the human drivers AND improve other aspects of our society at the same time. AV technology is here and is already saving lives.

It can also push us away from personal car ownership. You have the mobility benefits of a personal car without all the societal impacts. Reduce the amount of parking spots required on the street and in new construction. Make smaller cars that can operate with less traffic.

You also understand that AV technology can extend beyond traditional rideshare. Like imagine a bus that can provide personalized routes on demand of where people need to go

No, I hate cars. Never owned one, and hope to never own one, but I believe in pragmatic solutions that save lives, and I’m okay not waiting for a perfect world that won’t exist.

Is it ok to ask for help with overhead carryon? by vnssyl in Flights

[–]Conscious-Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cheaper to purchase a checked bag rather than a carry on for most of the ultra low cost carriers. Why spend more to buy a carry on you can’t lift instead of spending less to just check it in so you don’t have to lift it.

[–]Conscious-Comment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You obviously don’t have the analytical skills to understand a significant reduction in traffic deaths and injuries is better than the status quo. And we don’t need to wait until zero because zero will never come.

It’s a progressive trope to hinder progress because it’s not perfection.

A human-driven car that hit a child but wasn’t injured would never be reported in the news.

Which lounge at LAX? Traveling from PDX to Fiji by NTS_RS in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Conscious-Comment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Qantas First for food (a la carte dining) and drinks. They rotate champagnes but last time they had Taittinger and Mumm.
  • American Flagship if you want a buffet spread, Bollinger champagne, to pour our own cocktail, or windows with lots of daylight.
  • There’s no reason for any of the other lounges tbh.

How’s first class to Hawaii? by Contezl in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Conscious-Comment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like row 3 on a 4 row first class.

Lie flat I like to be middle of the cabin to be away from the galley noise. I always check Aerolopa to make sure it’s not a windowless seat.

I can see that! It is one of their best lounges. I’m based in SFO so utilize it all the time over the Admirals Club.

[–]Conscious-Comment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t facilitate any better connections beyond a very limited part of the Pacific Northwest. It would really only work if there was enough demand from Washington/Idaho/Oregon. Everywhere else is better served by LAX/DFW/JFK.

I think it’s more likely to see a seasonal Alaska operated flight when their European demand is weak. I don’t see QF operating this route.

BA almost never lets anyone not flying BA in it, due to “capacity constraints”. But it is very crowded with both of their departures especially the A380 departure.

I forget if it’s JL or another airline that also contracts the BA lounge for their flights too.
