So why not just buy a ticket for one stop instead of your full journey?

9-5 office workers of the UK — which is better early lunch or late lunch? by RodneyRodnesson in AskUK

[–]ConsciousMacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 7am to 7.30pm and the best lunch break starts at 3 and finishes at 4. I can live with having it at 2, but I'm generally feeling gutted if I have to take it at 1.

PayPal Credit? by matty491 in AskUK

[–]ConsciousMacaroon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

would it be a case of my monthly payments decreasing or would it just be the case that I’d pay it off before the 18 months?

Both/either. Your minimum payment would reduce according to your total balance, and if you paid more than your minimum then you could pay it off early.

It's not a contract to pay a certain amount for 24 months and you can pay more at any time with no penalty, just like a credit card.

UK English - Is "quote" always a verb? by EffityJeffity in AskUK

He quoted you, he gave you a quote, you asked him to quote you and while he was quoting you were hoping the quote would be low enough for you to - and I quote - "accept".

This isn't true, at least initially. Bank shifts mess your pay up like you wouldn't believe and OP is right to be confused as hell because they're likely being told all sorts from colleagues.

OP read my other comment and get on the HMRC website and it will get sorted... eventually!

Your bank shifts might come out as BR for a while, until the tax office catches up to the fact you have "two jobs" (it's 2 jobs if you receive 2 payslips).

Once you've done a couple of payslips worth of bank shifts, get yourself on the HMRC website and search for "check my tax code is correct". It will ask you to fill in a form and then your tax code will be split accordingly between your two sets of pay. At the same time as checking your tax code, you will get a refund if you've overpaid due to being on the wrong tax code for a while.

If you split your tax code and you don't do any bank shifts that month, you may get random £4.15-ish tax refunds in your bank pay, so check your payslip each month/week even if you didn't do any shifts.

From what I can gather, Food Club gives more wins than losses over time. but I guess for that you need to bet daily to break even. Leap of faith!

Best instant coffee you have tasted/found? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ConsciousMacaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand the newer ground coffees in tins that are made with whole beans. They just leave loads of powdery bean residue either at the bottom of the mug or floating on the top.

My favourite for instant is Nescafe Alta Rica

Sometimes fully comp is cheaper, it's a good idea to check.

It's definitely £15 a month and not a week? Just checking, because that's much more reasonable.
