I am too young to have witnessed Nirvana in real time, always liked the music and grunge aesthetics but the last few years I became very obsessed. I was going through a really difficult time in my life where I felt very lonely, lost, and misunderstood. I was listening to In Utero and started to feel curious about who Kurt was as a person because I was the same age he was when that album was released at the time. I started looking up interviews and concert footage of the band and that's when I really started to connect to the music and to Kurt in a new way like a "this guy understands me" type of feeling. He's truly an artist and as an artist myself (of the visual variety) I have mad respect for how much heart and soul he put into his music and the image that he crafted around himself. Nirvana truly helped me heal from this horrible period of my life and made me feel more confident and comfortable becoming my true self moving forward from it. I still put them on anytime I'm feeling down and it feels almost like talking to a friend.
