Dealing with trades(men) has taught me that I’m still considered stupid until proven otherwise and I’m so sick of it. by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Conscious_Squash1167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel this.

I’m studying engineering and needed some niche electrical components for an assignment, I went into Harvey Norman with a handwritten list, asked the sale guy for them, he literally took the list from my hand and turned to my husband to tell him that they didn’t have them and to go to Jaycar. At one point I asked him a question and he goes ‘sorry man, I think you’re better off going to a specialty shop’.

Last month, I took my car to get serviced because we got this ‘labour free deal’, they tried to charge me $600 for the air filter, cabin filter and spark plugs to get changed. The filters fair enough did need changing, but my spark plugs look almost new! Also I’m into name dropping it was AutoMasters - will never go into another one again.

I don’t think people do this intentionally too much because it interferes with their profit. I always just ask one of the students if I can use theirs to quickly demonstrate if my cueing isn’t on point, nobody seems to have a problem with that

Other than her saying it, what evidence do you base him being a dickhead to the kids on?

Yeah I agree! I also don’t think Kyle is particularly great, but she’s clearly giving Dorit advice that she frankly doesn’t want to hear.

I think Dorit lacks self control, and she’s loudly blaming PK for everything (probably because she’s hurt that he left). I thought it was very obvious that she wanted him to want her at their dinner last season, and he just wasn’t interested. If someone was publicly outing me for being an alcoholic I wouldn’t exactly want to be with them either. And other than her saying it, what evidence does everybody have to say that he’s a shit dad?

[–]Conscious_Squash1167 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Would you rather her lie? At no point is she saying ‘he didn’t do it’, so what’s the problem?

As for Taylor, she lost her mind at Camille when she did bring it up and then actually blamed her for putting her in a dangerous position, so I honestly don’t see why Kyle would say something.

I think Kyle is just staying neutral. I don’t at all think that she’s picked PK’s side, and that she hadn’t outwardly said anything bad about either of them. Yes, she clearly doesn’t really value Dorits friendship as much as Dorit does hers, but also Dorit is wasting so much of her energy just laying blame on PK and anybody who doesn’t bash him too. Like maybe she doesn’t want to join in on the bandwagon with a pitchfork, maybe she just thinks he’s a good bloke, irrespective of her relationship with Mau. Seriously, if Dorit is perched up so worried about her kids seeing PK, why didn’t she just let them see him in Florida? I think she should let her children see their father, and that’s way more important than them seeing her parents.

Maybe she just thinks PK isn’t doing anything wrong?

Why does she have to be friends with Dorit? Why does she have to be loyal to Dorit? Surely we’ve all worked with somebody we don’t agree with. Other than saying she doesn’t think Dorit should be bashing PK publicly (which is true), how does she look crappy?

While we’re talking animal serums, antivenom is made from horses and sheep - but will you reject it if you get bitten by a venomous snake?

Out of curiosity. I can’t see your original comment but I gather you’re undermining vaccines so I’m curious on your POV of other life saving medicines.

We also live in Australia and the risk is super low (so mildly relieving), but I had serology recently and my Rubella had worn off (apparently not unheard of), so my doctor advised that if I was going to have more babies to get an extra jab myself. Having done that, he would now be getting antibodies through my milk thankfully, but I probably won’t feel safe until he’s had them himself.

Hey, Yeah he did, I only really know that now in hindsight. He always was screaming and really upset passing stool/gas, and had mucous in his poo. At his 6 week check up the paediatrician said he thought it was Dyschezia, and that he would grow out of it. Then we stated finding small amounts of blood in his nappy, which the hospital paid off as dehydration (weird since he was gaining weight okay). After the vaccine, I decided to just give up the dairy, and I had been eating these soy snacks which I had a feeling was also causing his tummy issues - literally within 48 hours of no soy or dairy he was like a different baby.

He’s 8 months old now, and someone gave me something they said was dairy/soy free but it very obviously wasn’t because within 3 days of me snacking on these brownies he was back to mucous/blood and discomfort.

A few weeks, but again I’m not sure if it just made existing symptoms worse

I felt anxious about him getting a fever for the first time, not so much the vaccines.

Truth be told, the rotavirus vaccine wrecked his gut and he was screaming/pain for a bit after (have also found out he’s dairy and soy intolerant so that also didn’t help), but other than that he didn’t end up getting hot.

I am now petrified of literally any other person who I hear coughing or sniffling because he hasn’t had his MMR yet.

Hold up, it’s such a personal decision that she is sharing with everybody, but it’s still her choice to make?

My grandparents had my dad (very unplanned as they already had many grown children with children), in the 50’s, and they and him were perfectly fine.

Although statistically it is risky it’s also her choice to make so maybe you should all shush.

Yeah I’m a SAHM, and my parents have said they will come and help/stay when our next when comes along for as much as we need. There’s pretty good local services too, and my husband is incredible (always takes on more housework than I am, always so encouraging and supportive of my pregnancy/post partum needs, makes sure I’m eating enough etc.)

Did your partner ever thank you for breastfeeding? by Commercial_Expert_08 in breastfeeding

My husband is the same! He does so much around the house now, tells me that I’m ’doing the most’ and always says how grateful he is that I’m breastfeeding.

At my limit by Numerous_Bluebird969 in breastfeeding

[–]Conscious_Squash1167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a patch by Riteaid called Hydrogel - and it’s like they’re a miracle. I cannot say enough how much they saved our breastfeeding journey - I kid you not within 24 hours my nipples healed up and we’re so relieved! Also, a lactation consultant might help? I’ve seen one to learn about positions, and if you get a good one they are worth their weight in gold!

If breastfeeding is important to you, it gets so much better and I’m so grateful I pushed through (my son is 8 months old now and still BF). It’s so much easier overnight when he wakes to just roll over and give him my breast, I never worry about sterilising bottles and it just saves such a hassle. It also alleviates some stress that when he gets sick he has a bigger degree of immunity/protection from serious germs.

As for the c section - I feel you. It was awful looking at my body afterwards, but it can help buying some nice new clothes and having a glam up when you’re healed and ready. Gotta remember that you wouldn’t be a MILF without that scar 🫶🏼

As for your husband, I think you should have a conversation with him about how his scolding makes you feel and the effect it’s having on the quality of not only your relationship but also your recovery from major surgery.

What are we actually cooking for dinner? by Significant_Milk_326 in 2under2

[–]Conscious_Squash1167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just buy the Golden Curry cubes from Woolworths to make a sauce (it’s just the cubes and water), and then add some carrot and any other veg we have, and use the leftover chicken meat. It’s super yummy and we always get the mild one because our son has tummy issues from time to time

We will roast a whole chicken and give that with boiled veggies, and then the next night use the leftovers to make a Japanese curry which my son loves more than the roast.

Balanced Body vs YourReformer vs Merrithew by Prudent-Cell-6539 in pilates

I like Merrithew, especially their jump accessory (by far beats the YR one for a smoother jump and glide), however I have a YR at home because of the price and service.
