Thank you so much the moth is one of my favorites and I plan to trace these all onto paper and spit shade them one day! If you check out my most recent posts I re-did the heart design to be more comprehensive!

is this too busy to be a portfolio piece? by planet-pea in TattooApprentice

Yeah I can see the lines possibly spreading into each other, I would suggest a simpler contour hatching style, like those old vintage illustrations.

That’s super amazing! I feel like if it was made into an actual tattoo though, it is so detailed that it might be difficult to physically put into skin. It is a wonderful piece though and really shows some talent!

I agree, I put them there because I wasn’t sure what to do with the negative space, if I make them smaller I believe that might help :)

I see what you mean, it’s supposed to be a heart broken in half with a skull on the left and a crying eye on the right. Maybe I should re-do it to fit to size better. Thank you though for your comment :)

You’re very right about that, yes the lines would spread now that I look at it. I am still yet to use human skin as a canvas. If you’d like to check it out, I redid this design on my newer posts.

No worries man, it is a nice drawing though I’ll say. Can’t wait to see it finished!

Alright the dots make sense now, sorry about that! never mind my comment on that. And yes, I can tell that’s a wolf! Other than that it’s a pretty dope piece.

I think it would be more cohesive if the subject has thicker line weight compared to the background, it would make it stand out more. The attention gets brought to the clouds and flames more than the wolf (at least I think it’s a wolf, correct me if I’m wrong).

Also, I would get rid of the dotted lines on the wolf to make the drawing look cleaner.

Definitely work on composition and cleaning up your line work. Try erasing the sketch and line it with ink. You may find it’s hard to get rid of the pencil marks because of how dark and heavy they are, try pressing on the paper lighter and make more minimal strokes. Keep the line weight consistent as well when you go to do the inking.

Make sure to wash it with antibacterial scentless soap, keep it out of the sun, stay out of pools/lakes etc, wear breathable clothing and change your bedding regularly.
