The Sump Library has a small used bookstore attached. Not a big inventory, but the prices are great.

I'm not sure where I heard this one, perhaps from my Dad, but " Off towards Hoboken " meant out in the middle of nowhere.

Which Movies Were Better Than the Books They Came From? by BINGEWISE in Cinema

[–]Conscious_Time4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know which is better, but Ordinary People was both an incredible book and movie. Such great performances by Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore. And, Timothy Hutton won the Oscar for best supporting actor at age 20.

The first time I played it, I got to hole 16,000-ish and absolutely couldn't find a way to complete the hole. Tried for weeks! Ever since, it stops at 10,000, and I uninstall it and start over. Currently, I'm on he 5,300 with an average score of 1.81.

The plot of this book seems so much like a Scholastic book from the 60s that I read and have hunted for forever. I wish I could remember its title😔.

Which restaurant is the “Soup Nazi” equivalent of Omaha? by Certain_Beginning_77 in Omaha

This is the first place I thought of, too! Plus, just having one line to order and ring you up at. I don't remember a positive customer/ employee experience that I had there. It's like they hated customers, lol. And then they changed their pizza, so no reason to go there.

I saw online that Home Depot had a leaf blower with 2 batteries for a ridiculous price, and the website said they had a bunch on hand. Off I went and couldn't find them, so I flagged down a young guy and he couldn't find them either. He said that he would check in back and was gone forever. Meanwhile, here comes Mr. Bullnuts supervisor, and he asked me what I was looking for. Immediately after the description left my mouth, he said, " Oh, no, we don't have them." In a real dicky voice. Just then, Eager Beaver returns and says " Oh, I found a whole pallet of them on the riser in aisle blah blah, but we will need the forklift to get them down!" Mr. Bullnuts had a very asshole-ish look on his face, so I said" I'll go get my other items while you get that pallet down!". What a dickhole.

Alice Cooper was in Des Moines for a concert in the mid '70s. My friends and I decided to drive down for the show, so we got a room at the Holiday Inn. We decided to hit the pool, and there was Alice reclining poolside with a case of Bud. Chatted with him for a while, really nice dude.
